Here's a Q&A with Jon Ritchie about Sandusky. Ritchie is a former Eagle and an ESPN analyst. He knew Sandusky since he was a kid in his teens. It sheds some light on why ppeople just couldn't believe this guy did this.

Interesting is Ritchie makes note when the rumors started in 2009 he figured it was just some disgruntled kid. He also now in hindsight says he'd praise Sandusky at charity events and the man would gush. He'd look embarassed. Ritchie now believes that is because the man felt badly about what he did to the kids.

Also it seems Sandusky didn't abuse any kids over the age of say 12 or so which made these high school kids safe perhaps? Also as usual they are going to pick out the poor kid they know they can continue to abuse without incident. A linebacker may have beat his lousey tail down if he messed with them.

Oh....they most definitely are no where near the caliber of the Penn State evil....it is just that the issues were approached with the same kind of arrogance and protect the program mentality. I certainly hope that there is NOTHING going on of the same level as the scandal at hand.

FWIW I don't think the TMZ picture was him, or at least not a recent shot of him. The TMZ guy has a lot more hair on top than Sandusky has left.

O/T Many entered the priesthood to keep from disgracing their families...Many mothers were proud of the fact their sons or daughter's chose religious life..They wouldn't have been too proud of them IF their sons and daughters had admitted they were homosexuals or lesbians...JMHO

Great piece Misizzy (thanks for posting) and I've gotta say that it touches my heart to see so many men who have been sexually abused themselves speaking out and giving words of courage and strength to other male survivors. People need to lose the whole homosexuality stigma associated with pedophilia! The sexual abuse of a child HAS NOTHING to do with homosexuality, hetersexuality, etc.

Also a Catholic and thank you so much nomoresorrow. Pedophiles are pedophiles. They like CHILDREN. The vast majority, when they do have relationships with other adults, have heterosexual ones.

Yes, I personally know gay people who entered the priesthood or became nuns (it's kind of obvious). None of them molested kids. Sadly, pedophiles also have sought the priesthood, but not as a refuge from a culture/religion/family that views homosexuality as sin, but as a means to have access to innocents. Thankfully, despite the criminal cover up by my church, those pedophiles are few in number compared to the numbers of dedicated and honorable priests and nuns out there.

ETA: I also wanted to ask, has anyone heard from this monster's poor, adopted children who are now adults? I can only imagine what they suffered.

I thought about this over the weekend and this post is making me think about it again. JS is 67. These crimes (that we know about) at Penn State began in the 1990s.

JS was born in 1944. There are decades and decades of him as an adult before the 1990s. How many other victims are out there? How many decades did he prey on children?

Do most predators begin molesting victims in their mid teens? That would be 1959 for JS. :furious:
