How long will the jury deliberate?

SG just talked about the closings by the defense and commonwealth... she thinks the defense did a compelling job in breaking the case down, so the jury could understand it(which again is rather insulting) and while she thinks McGettigan did well, she thought the most compelling part of the commonwealth's closing was Sandusky's behaviour. He smiled a lot and I guess it seemed like he was laughing softly. :/

He is notone of the victims in the trial and there was another grand jury (or at least other members).

Can you explain why this victim wouldn't have been included in this case?

WTAE has up pics of ol' Jer, and I refuse to look at his mug when I check back for updates, so I'm just gonna follow this thread for a bit.....

Re: The poll. I voted for 4-8 hours, but a verdict sometime tomorrow would be alright with me. DH and I are leaving Saturday morning for a long weekend (our anniversary) on Mackinac Island where we won't have internet access. We'll have cable TV and can watch CNN/HLN, but I'd miss being here with fellow 'sleuthers to discuss the verdict.

Jerry #Sandusky, left, leaves the courthouse with Centre County Sheriff Denny Nau

Wonder if Sandusky is getting threats and now getting protection by the Sheriff......or is there a bond issue?

I voted 8 hrs-2 days.

I voted 8 hours - 2 days, but it could go longer if there are major hold-outs who bought the defense hook, line, and sinker.

Compared to that other jury, this one boasts more highly educated people, no high school drop outs that I'm aware of. They would hopefully be open to debate the issues. However, there is the Penn State connection. That could either harm or help Sandusky. It's so hard to tell from the little we know.

After that other case, I did read an article about a jury that deliberated for 4 months! They had a rather forensics heavy case and a complicated time line. They refused to make a judgement until they had completed their own time lines and pored over all the forensics. I wish I'd save that one!

Let's hope this jury just gets down to business and gets it done. It wouldn't surprise me if they came back with not guilty on some charges, guilty on some charges, and hung on others. It's not easy to get 12 people to see eye-to-eye on everything.

ETA: I wonder how much Jerry's demeanor, smiling and gazing at his victims, will play in the jury's mind.

Yeah, I'm expecting a split verdict too. I don't see a straight acquital or a straight guilty verdict.

I would think seeing JS smiling, laughing, grinning or gazing at the victims would have some sort impact. What innocent person does that? This is a serious matter but for him, it's all just a joke. :/

I found Dottie's scathing assessment of the victims in really bad taste. That was my biggest shocker of the trial. That and the old "personality Disorder made me do it" defense. :eyeroll:

I think the jury will sleep on it and we will know tomorow. Just a guess.

I concur. This will not be a quick verdict. There are many counts to go over. And you're right highly educated people are a nightmare for most defenses. And that did play a part in why we saw the verdict we did in Florida.

And I also agree that we will see a mixed bag on the verdicts.

If I had to guess I doubt we'll get a verdict this week. I would say we will on Monday. Again mainly because of the many counts and that there might be a holdout.

The only thing that worries me is that there are so many jurors with Penn State connections.

Agree. It also seemed perfectly contrived by the defense team.
