I would venture a guess that with the first phone call, he could have just said that he was too distraught to talk and would talk to them the next day or something.

Why would LE detain the vehicle? On Nov 3rd, all they really knew was that JY's wife was murdered and Cassidy was saying that Daddy did it.
I think to keep JY there until Major Johnson arrived, LE detained the vehicle. If JY gave a reason to not talk - LE went on to the vehicle as by rights they should have if he refused to speak with them. I think Meredith was rather traumitized to say the least but I would be very willing to bet good money - she still spoke to LE and made no excuse such as being too distraught and no one should ever have to find what that young woman found when she entered that house. JY had zero excuse - distraught or not. JMO

scandi~ excellent thoughts as usual. I've always thought the call to Meredith was a ruse for several reasons, and that the business trip was too coincidental, in other words that he'd arranged to have his tracks covered. Now if Fussell actually did see several suitcases with Jason as he was leaving the house, it sure doesn't look like a business trip, but that he'd been asked to move out...[/QUOTE post#80]

Yes, also it is possible that he packed heavily because he knew there was going to be a crime scene created there later that night and that he would be unable to return for more of his things anytime soon.

I wonder how many detectives are still working on the case. This should tell us something. I think the press could be telling us a lot more. We need to send John & Ken out there with their bullhorn to stand outside JY's parents! Something - anything to get the attention of national TV 'cause the local reporting ain't cutting it!

On the otherhand, I'm thinking that LE doesn't want to show any of their hand to JY so they're not talking. There I go arguing with myself again! :banghead:

from People Mag...

Why did Young ask his wife's sister to retrieve a document from their home on the afternoon of Nov. 3, when the body was found, if he was due back that night?

this is something i hadn't heard....that JY was due back that night of the 3rd from his parents...that can't be right, from things we've 'heard'......he was going to stay w/his parents on that Friday night....it was a weekend visit, from what we heard early on....ugh, i'll have to find an article....

couldn't find the article where it was stated JY was heading to his parents home for a weekend visit, but i KNOW that was reported very early on, in the media.... :banghead:

OH yes, John and Ken would do a great job! Maybe I should call them and offer to pay for their trip.

Hi Jilly, I think the word if says it all. They have no idea I think whether or not he had planned to return home that night.

Hey! One way for the police to find this out would be to see if there were suitcases missing from the home or if alot of his clothes were missing. I don't really know how they would find this out since he isn't talking to them, but it means he must have unloaded his suitcases at the home in Brevard before they set out back for Raleigh.

I like this quote from Johnson in the People Mag article as well:

"Now's the time to be methodical and sure," says investigator Johnson. "This case will be solved, and when we're there, we'll know we're there."

:)

Just finished the article on line at AOL (thanks for the link). One part got my attention. It said that MY's mother had often been with Cassidy before Michelle was murdered. She missed her grandchild. I know she has a home in NC. Does she live there permanently? If she had previously been close to her and now she can't get access, could that mean that LE is holding her back for some reason. She hasn't pushed to see her that I can tell. JY's folks are keeping her well hidden without contact with anyone other than his immediate family. Just wondering what's behind MY's mother's silence.

BarnGoddess,

Linda Fisher does have a home in NC listed in her name - this is where Meredith lives. Linda Fisher still resides on Long Island in NY. Note the attached link:

http://www.newsday.com/news/local/longisland/ny-limurd0101,0,6564130.story?coll=ny-linews-headlines

"Surrounded and comforted after the service by friends and family, Fisher said she has faith in the Wade County police, and they have kept her updated on any progress on the case.

She also said she hasn't seen her granddaughter Cassidy since the killing, but would not elaborate."

I do not believe it is LE that is keeping her from seeing her grand daughter. The silence to me seems to indicate that she is being advised by LE on the progress of the case and is satisfied it will be concluded appropriately. JMO
