People Magazine - Caylee Anthony's Family Secrets

I not sure I agree here, I thought for sure Cindy would end up hospitalized, no way I thought it would be George:blowkiss:

I'm not sure what you are disagreeing with here. I never said I thought George rather than Cindy would end up hospitalized. I thought she would too... If anything I thought George would end up in jail for beating someone up. My statement in the post you quoted of mine was that I don't hold only Cindy responsible for how Casey was raised, George was a part of it too and because HE is healthier emotionally than Cindy IMO he should have gotten out of with his children a long time ago. My post wasn't discussing George being in the hospital.

The People mag story was interesting but did not contain any info I hadn't read or heard before except for this (see bolded section).

"When police arrived at the Hawaii Motel the found George neatly dressed and his room undisturbed. When they saw a note in which he claimed he had taken a lot of pills, they decided he needed help. In the trash they found two empty pill bottles with the labels peeled off."

"Everything has really come together. We've got forensics, and Casey has done a good job of incriminating herself. I have no worries because I think we've got her".

I agree. My husband went to the store and brought the PEOPLE mag back for me. I was really disappointed. It was all old news IMO. With the exception of the source who said Cindy yells at George and calls him names in front of his friends,( and even this I had assumed since it is on record that a co-worker said that CA said "KC yells at GA as much or more than I do") I had heard it all before. A waste, a hugh waste! (Sorry-I couldn't resist)

Absolutely! And IMO because George is the "healthier" of the two he holds a very big part in the dysfunction. He should have taken his children out of that home years ago.
He certainly should have.

That actually was reported in at least one of the earliest media articles after GA was found. It said that two empty prescription pill bottles were found in the trashcan without labels.

If I had a sister that acted like Cindy does.....I would be telling the world what I knew. Don't you guys think this is killing her mom? She told her months ago to get out of the media she was looking like a fool. Maybe the rest of the family wants everyone to know they are not as loopy as Cindy is.

At the same time, Cindy had Josh Ducket and others telling her from the get-go to get her face in front of every camera she could find to keep her granddaughter's face in the public eye. If you were in Cindy's shoes, who would you have listened to???? I don't doubt that I would have made a fool of myself if it meant my granddaughter's face was kept in the spotlight....and I wouldn't have given up hope, either, without the body.

ITA to go public in forums was unforgivable, thats not a way to love your family.A brother like him I would not talk to either.

With a brother like Rick, who needs enemies??? If my brother ever treated me that way, I'd disown him.

There is a huge difference in keeping Caylee's face in the media and what Cindy did! When you are caught repeatedly in lies and discrepancies from one appearance to the next...it means you have something to hide. The public picked up on this early on and watched her progess from there. She wasn't making a fool out of herself...she was backing herself into the corner she is in today because she wasn't honest and forthcoming with her information. Josh Duckett didn't lie and never changed his story in regards to Trenton. This is why he has the full support of the public.

There have been very few people with missing children this has happened to, but I can think of plenty of perps who have done it! Bobby Cutts, Jr, Scott Peterson, Susan Smith...

if CA would have only given KC 12 hours then called the police and told them her daughter left home with her daughter and now she is not letting her talk to or see Caylee, police would have said its her child not yours. A mother can take her child away from the grandparents home.Grandparents have very few rights.

Somehow I believe that if LE had been called to the tow lot to investigate the decomp filled car, we would not need to discuss this. It would be a slam dunk. Police should have been called there and then. Missing child/decomp smell in car/lying, stealing, sociopathic mother...hmmmmmm.......Report filed, investigation begun, Caylee prob found sooner, more forensic evidence. Why didn't a former homicide detective and Rn call the police then? Why didn't little Caylee's grandparents call then?

How do you figure George is the healthier of the two??? It's been said he put his own father through a plate glass window; he gambled his house away; cheated on his wife; would fly into rages with the reporters/protesters; and just recently attempted suicide. Oh, it has also been said George may have S/Aed KC per JG. This is healthier than a woman who worked her butt off for her family and kept a beautiful, clean home for them? I've read she was quite the cook, too, while George sat on his duff watching cooking shows hoping to learn something.

I was turned off on George when he had the Police lie to his son. I thought he was being a sneak in his interview when he had the Police call Lee and say his father was on his way to meet them when he was already there. I can only imagine how Lee and Cindy felt when they read that!

I can't believe how hard some women here have been on Cindy. Wow!!!

From reading the People article, I got the impression that they aren't quite convinced about George's suicide attempt.

"When George let officers in the room, they discovered two empty pill bottles and a rambling eight page letter, in which Anthony claimed to have swallowed some pills. Except George seemed perfectly lucid-and when brought to the hospital, he told a nurse, "I haven't taken anything," according to one police source.
(I had not heard this before)

But George Anthony's attorney, Brad Conway insists it was a suicide attempt, that George took sleeping pills and blood pressure medication and mixed them with alcohol."

Maybe it's the guy who came to dinner that they talked about in the latest released jail interview! LOL --
Good one!

How many do you know of that was in Cindy's position of both grandmother and mother? I don't think it was easy for Cindy trying to keep everyone looking for her granddaughter while at the same time trying not to help LE build a DP case against her daughter. What parent in their right mind would want to feed LE all the info necessary to put their child to death? I think she was walking a tight-rope caught between the unconditional love of both her daughter and granddaughter.

Im sowwy, I should have specified that I don't think George is healthier emotionally , thats what I meant by my statement of him ending up in the hosp . over Cindy

Bought the magazine, but haven't read it yet....I'm just glad Casey's picture is not on the cover.

George is "a man who knows a lot about a lot of things," lying being one of the best things George does. Being weak isn't a crime; many people go through life never making waves against the rageaholics in their lives. George and Cindy live a symbiotic relationship. Perhaps it is because they truly love each other, as Chilly would suppose. Perhaps it is because they're addicted to the toxic nature of the relationship as many others suppose. But one thing is clear: George lies to get through life just as much as Casey does. He lies to keep himself out of trouble (as you've noted). There is no other way to look at that statement you've noted as anything other than a grown man afraid of the repercussions of what he's just done and wanting to avoid discovery at all costs.

He fears being found out talking to LE, and that is telling in the gravity of the WHY he is talking to LE. His granddaughter is missing and yet he is afraid to have anyone in his family know about it. Ask yourself WHY would a grown man fear that? Then look into the statement he just gave and ask yourself what did he actually reveal that he should be afraid that Cindy and Lee would find out. I suppose I should re-listen.

I tend to agree with you. I find that Cindy is being judged unnecessarily harshly for the most part. What the article lacks in objectivity it makes up for in sensationalism.

In spite of the degree to which we can educate ourselves in an effort to gain objectivity we are still left with the filter of our own life experiences, which no matter what, ultimately weigh heavily in the forming of opinions.

At the risk of sounding rude and callous... this whole family appears to be quite dysfunctional. My guess is relations between Cindy and her brother have not always been perfect. Maybe he took tough love overboard, maybe he phrased things inappropriately, but it did seem like he was trying to get Cindy to smell the roses . I have no doubt there are years of hurt, animosity, misunderstanding, anger resentment and a bit of love...I am not sure Cindy has been the esiest sister to get along with

I feel mean for saying this but it is what I think...

snipped

I really don't think that either Cindy or George created Casey. I think she created them. The stresses of living with a sociopath are indescribable--they very much shape the behavior of those enduring it.

Removing Casey from either parent would not have changed the outcome in terms of her character. She is flawed, she is disordered.

The pathology in the Anthony family is a function of this character disorder, not vice versa.
