I note that Greta was talking with a reporter in Peru and the reporter didn't mention anything about Joran committing suicide. I would think that if this was a valid report, it would have been stated by the reporter as major news in this case.

I suspect that report of Joran's suicide is bogus.

ARICA, CHILE (BNO NEWS) — A Dutch man who is the prime suspect in the disappearance of American teenager Natalee Holloway and that is being sought in connection with the murder of a young woman in Peru, was spotted on Wednesday in a northern Chilean city, police said.

Douglas Rodriguez, a top police officer with the Chilean Investigation Police said Joran van der Sloot was spotted on Wednesday in Arica city, which lies adjacent to the Peruvian city of Tacna.

Rodriguez told reporters that police are looking for van der Sloot in overnight accommodations. He said the suspect arrived in Chile from Peru in a taxi accompanied by two Peruvian men on May 31. The two Peruvians traveled back to Tacna the same day.

If true, he may have paid the two men mentioned in the article to help him get across the border.

What was the guys name caught in Mexico by Dog, Factor (?) who got his thrills by assaulting his victims in their passed out state...could be the same thing at play here. Maybe that's his 'thing'. She could have been drugged to the point he was able to get her to his room but then she starts becoming more aware of whats going on. I think some of these drugs dont have as much a physically debilitating effect immediately as just drunken/out of it/amnesiac effect. If she was only to that point and then came around to the "oh, he's got me in his room and I need to get out" state of mind, I can see no actual sexual assault ever taking place.

If they arrived at the room at 5 AM and he left at 9 AM, assuming the GHB didnt kick in and she immediately fought, he would have plenty of time to shower, change into his own clothes (his hotel room), etc.

A little money for him is a lot of money for someone in Surinam. Also, he speaks the language, which makes it a lot easier than say Argentina or Chile. And finally, Surinam still has a lot of ties to Holland, even if it's not a colony anymore.

Van Der Sloot, who is good with languages, also speaks Spanish and to get to Surinam, he will have to go through all those countries.

Hi Patty G, I've catching up here but have been wondering about that too.

Maybe in Peru they aren't Johnny-on-the-spot to get in and clean a room after a guest leaves. If he checked out on Monday it would leave over a day she was in the room dead, maybe a day and a half depending on check out time.

Maybe he didn't officially check out but was seen crossing the border into Chile where everyone might have to show ID. That is the only reason I can think of as to why she wasn't discovered much sooner.

I thought that it was stated it was Sunday that he either "checked out" or "left" the hotel. The body wasn't found until Wednesday. That's quite a few days to not go and clean a room IF he actually "checked out".

I heard it both ways now, so I am not sure if he "left" or checked out". :banghead:

I don't agree. IMO, he most likely celebrates every year because he got away with it. It is also very likely that Natalie and this girl are not the only ones murdered. He has shown his disdain for women. In between murdering Natalie and this murder he also was involved with trying "human trafficing". He is caught on tape for this. He is very dangerous and needs to be stopped before another woman loses her life.

Now, regarding this report of the suicide 'near the border', I see this other news report saying where he crossed the border from Peru into Chili sound relatively close, so I don't know. Guess we'll just have to see on this one.
