I am wondering if Joran has any brothers or sisters? I am not going anywhere with that, just curious.

He has one younger brother to my knowledge.

Nothing confirmed by US reporters so this is just a rumor...

I do hope he doesn't think about doing this or did do this for I'd like to see him go on trial in Peru for Stephany's murder...prisons in Peru are nightmarish/hellish..according to JVM on last nights show...Then I'd like to see him tried for Natalees...wishful thinking but these young woman deserve justice...

interesting article. it states van der sloot was caught on camera with "two other men" in a city in Chile...it's the very last sentence. Also, another article I read was that she (Stephany) had been stabbed many, many times, and then covered with a blanket. So sad.

I watched the Today Show coverage this morning and there wasn't even a hint that Joran committed suicide.

Chilean police searching the Dutchman Joran Van Der Sloot (23), prime suspect in the murder of the Peruvian Stephany Flores, daughter of businessman and racer Ricardo Flores, who fled by road to the Chilean city of Arica. Joran Van Der Sloot, entered Peru on May 14, from Colombia, and left the country on 31 May .

This article states that Chilean authorities are only asked to locate the suspect but not arrest him. So, what would be the next step if he is located in Chile. Are the Chilean authorities to call Peruvian Popo? Interpol?

The wording here bothers me and I am afraid he could evade being caught if he is located in Chile but not detained by police. Does this make sense?

I feel sure he is trying to get outa dodge and he has the 5000 dollars he stole from Stephany. He must have lost some money in the poker game at that casino.

As far as him committing suicide, I don't see this arrogant person doing so unless he's backed into a corner. He is cowardly and not too smart so ya never know.

I have often thought about the day when Dave Holloway tried to visit Joran in KIA, the Aruban prison. after being told by Paulus that Dave's legally and properly scheduled visit would not happen until "after the investigation is completed", Paulus went inside to see his son and agreed to give Joran the books which Dave had brought for him, one being The Purpose Driven Life

Dave returned to KIA about an hour later when he estimated the visit would be over. he greeted Paulus for the second time that day and again initiated a handshake. Dave said that both men held that grip for 45 minutes while looking into each other's eyes, Dave pleading for information and Paulus repeating over and over that "I will do anything to protect my son". Dave said that his arm and shoulder were sore (and Paulus kept flexing his fingers and wrist) after the prolonged grip between the two men

it was mentioned in the previous thread that Joran speaks Spanish. IMO "speaks/understands" is different than "fluent". which would be all the more reason to lam it to a country where he can get around/blend in more easily (even tho he is well over 6 feet tall). I know from Natalee's case that he is fluent in Dutch, English and Papiamentu (a mixture of English, Portugeuse, and African and Arawk languages and widely spoken in Aruba). Papi Portugeuse differs much from pure Portugeuse. I don't recall that Spanish is one of his languages (altho I could be wrong about that)

To the story about Dave and Paulus, riveting. I think Beth did the best she could and am not diminishing anything she did or has done since that day 5 years ago, but Dave Holloway always struck me just differently - to hell with all the rest of it, the hype - tell him where his daughter is, let him take her home.

(Again, not saying that wasn't Beth's ultimate desire, I just felt he took a more direct approach to hopefully get to that point.)

There have been many reports, but this is what I have so far...(asking for confirmation from others...please).

She left on Wed. because of fight with family, father reported her on Fri., Sat night(early Sun morn) she meets Vanderslut, takes friends home, she returns to casino, leaves with him to go to his hotel around 5 am and he leaves alone at 8 am.

Just thinking outside the box, but I always wondered if he was "marketing" Natalee to the Kapoe brothers and possibly this was his gig in Lima also. Promising someone to deliver a girl to his hotel room. She then realizes trouble and tries to get away.

One thing is definite. This kid (sic) is a monster and very dangerous....especially now on an international lamb. I hope his mother has seen the light and is raising his brother a little differently...or attending parental classes, or psych would be best. They more or less let an undisciplined child rule his own life --till he had finally acted out in his horrific way searching for the instruction and discipline he so needed and unconsciously sought.
After Natalee they had 5 years to get him help.....what did they do...allowed him go to Thailand and get involved in the sex trade/trafficking. It's not something an 18 year old picks up on his own. Maybe pops was into more than we know.

I never followed the case on the threads, but just a bit on the tube. So don't know all the facts/rumors, etc., but I don't think the father was too good of a role model. And mother just kept her mouth shut to abide the father. JMO IMO

1. Joe said he knows that Joran left the hotel on Sunday, but the girl was found Wednesday. Do we have proof that Joran indeed left Sunday?

2. If Joe knows this information, he has spoken to Joran, and that means he's still alive. I am guessing here, but do we know for sure that Joe Taco has spoken to Joran?

3. They are calling Joran a suspect and there is an international manhunt for him. Does this mean they have enough evidence (other than a surveillance camera and a few housekeeping staff testimony) to charge him??

Can we say "cover our a$$es"? Shoddy reporting, nevertheless.

This guy could mosey over to Dutch-speaking Suriname, a bit of a walk from Chile or Peru, but it's still in South America. It was formerly known as Dutch Guiana and Netherlands Guyana. He'd fit in more easily there than in other SA countries. The folks there are all sizes, although mostly dark-skinned, at least darker the JVDS. There are still some lighter Dutch descendants.

I'd rather he be arrested, charged, tried, and convicted though. He doesn't need to be on the loose.

For those who say it's not certain he killed her, well, it was his hotel room, he was seen on hotel video, and seen entering and exiting the room by hotel workers. Chances are very good he was involved. It was also stated his room was paid through at least Wednesday. He left on Sunday, Stephany was killed on Sunday. Sounds like a case of 2 + 2 = guilty! IMO.

I think he's one of those 'priviledged' types who comes from a wealthy family. He has reportedly been connected to human trafficking in Thailand. He alledgedly stole 5000 dollars from Stephany and left the hotel in her vehicle.

He's both a parasite and a predator, IMO.

15 mins into the Levi page show they say there was video of him going into the room with the victim then later leaving alone. I hope this case is resolved quickly, and that the individuals who allowed him to stay on the street are ashamed of what they have done. Awful awful story.

It wouldn't bother me at all if the reports of his suicide proved to be true. It would mean that no other woman would die at his hands, and no other legal maneuvers could free him. It would also mean we wouldn't have to look at this creepy person for months on end until a trial. Maybe we could learn more about what happened, but the sooner the world is rid of this monster, the better. That is if he really did kill both of them, and I truly believe he did or he is the unluckiest man in the world to be associated with both of these cases if he really didn't.
