What makes anyone think he is going to New Zealand? He would get caught quick smart. The case was reported on there (I saw it myself on tv) and there are alot of people who follow the international news and know the big stories that are going on in the States and England.

NZ would be a bad move for him.

Hope he tries it though!

I keep reading on Dutch news sites that she was stabbed to death. Isn't it already confirmed that she was beaten?

May have been lost in translation?

It is strange in my opinion that her father also is known to disappear for days at a time. An important businessman is usually in constant contact with his office or at least tells them where he will be and how long he will be away.

I am no fan of JVS but this whole thing doesn't seem right to me for some reason.

Could her father or girlfriend have done this and is just throwing the famous Joran's name out as a distraction?

The strange thing is....in a normal case, there would be a high amount of suspicion toward a father who disapproved of his daughters personal lifestyle, was upset with her gambling, and had a serious argument with her causing her to leave home for several days. Not to mention that the father tracked her down, went to the hotel himself, has influence in the country, etc. The jealous girlfriend angle would also raise suspicions. HOWEVER, the chances of all that happening by coincidence just when she met and went to a hotel with this particular young man??? In a usual case, it would cause me to think that the father could very well be involved, but with JVDS just happening to be in this foreign country at the time, it changes the "usual suspects" pool a whole lot.

All fingers seem to pointed in his directions and no doubt he's !!!!!!!!, but I agree to a point....things just seems too tightly wrapped and way too coincidental. Makes one want to say....hmmmmmm...so keeping one of my brain cells for uncertainty.

FoxNews:

Female Anchor: heard that he asked the cleaning personnel not to come into his room
JoeT (in studio): still need evidence before come to conclusion he's a serial killer

This is the Interpol Wanted Persons search page.

http://www.interpol.int/Public/Wanted/Search/Form.asp

I don't find Joran when I search in any of these categories -

last name: Van Der Sloot

forename: Joran

arrest warrant issued by: Peru

nationality: Netherlands

I searched these individually and could be doing it wrong.

You know what I would not be surprised if he 'ended it' so to speak Andrew Cunanan style. I mean what's he going to do - live in the jungle? Also a suicide would allow him to maintain control of the situation, and the self delusion that in the end 'he won'.

I was just thinking of Cunanan a few minutes ago!

I think you are right. And I dont think he will be found alive.

Lima?! It was in Lima, Peru? I thought it was some other town in Peru. [Watching MSNBC.]

That looks like a very nice hotel. [The TAC one.]

I noticed on the hotel's website it stated "accommodates alternative life styles."

Thanks, hollyblue. The google translated version states:

"Intended to be, well, other means of communication and meeting between you, our guest, and all who are here to give you a pleasant stay."

but I wasn't sure exactly what that meant.

MSNBC is referring to Tacopina as Joran's one-time attorney. [FYI]

I just heard on HLN that they are working on getting the arrest warrant. Beth C. was on from TruTV & said it takes a bit of time based on how many jurisdictions are involved. Don't know how true that is but figured I'd put that out there.

I'm sure they pointed that out becaue on one of the other morning shows he claimed that there was no way JVS did it because he left on Sunday and she was found on Wed and there would have been cleaning people coming in.

He is believed to be traveling to the Dutch embassy about 190 miles south of Arica. When he enters there he can't be arrested by the Peruvian/Chilean authorities. He has 48 hours to get there (before the international arrest warrant goes out).

Its 5362 miles or 4658 nautical miles from Santiago, Chile to the Chatham Islands, New Zealand. So, IF he got a boat it would have to be a serious ocean going vessel.

Wonder how secure the ports are down there - could he sneak into a port yard and get in a container? He would really have to think ahead and take at least water with him to do that.

I don't know why - but it just keep popping into my head - has he gone into the jungle? There are small villages and very remote places out there.

I just can't see him attempting to survive in the jungle. Nope, he's way too accustom to his amenities.

Interesting bit of news. He's apparently getting some kind of legal advice. He likely would prefer to be tried in a Netherlands court. Does the Netherlands have an extradition treaty with Peru?

Can he be tried for a crime committed in Peru in a Netherlands court?
