Apparently he spent Beth's money, and FBI didn't follow him to SA........so who dropped the ball???????

Apparently Greta has info that JVS did extort money from Beth.

I'm not sure I agree with her completely. The FBI probably didn't want to bring charges until after the money had changed hands. That happened on May 10. JVS was in Aruba at that time until he left for Peru on May 14. How, exactly, was the FBI going to arrest him in Aruba? They have no jurisdiction there. How were they going to stop him from leaving Aruba and traveling to Peru? Was the FBI psychic? Did they know he was going to kill someone in Peru? Isn't it possible they planned to get the help of another country in arresting him?

Greta is jumping the gun on this one, hope she's not just playing politics.

I live in Alabama so I DO HAVE A RIGHT TO SAY THIS...... Our Attorney General, and District Attorneys are all idiots, they have been so tied up in the whole electronic bingo thing that they dropped the ball on this one, and I'm not suprised in the least bit now another young lady is dead because they felt it more important to pursue raiding gambling halls than to put a murderer away.:banghead:

I have not found it yet. First day it was reported 18, now 21, sadly her funeral is today or soon (media mess cannot say for sure) and maybe we will see something then. So sad, so young.

OF course it didn't, only that it provided him the money to commit the crime.

Guys on behalf of everyone in Alabama, I apologize for the extremely low IQ of those representing our state, and this is the $hit we put up with everyday, do you see why we have such low ratings for our schools and high numbers of crimes. Its been 6 years and my friends murder has still not be caught, but they have an "idea" who did it :furious:

BBM. She's using hyperbole to play for ratings, like they all do. We all know it takes time to put together a federal case and it likely would have been months from now before they actually charged him. He'd been running around free for five years - they had no way of knowing he would do something like this now.

I believe the only reason they charged him today is so they are next in line to extradite him if things fall through over there. I doubt they were truly ready to proceed at this early juncture and this new murder forced their hands.

Have to agree there. The legal system is slow, and must be for all the i's and t's to be dotted. I don't think they were following Joran, just waiting to file charges. Could not have known, but probably suspected a runner.

$15,000 did change hands, so the FBI could have technically charged him with extortion and wire fraud. Even if he was in Aruba, he could have been charged. IOW, if he ever entered the U.S. he could have been arrested. However, they may have been waiting for him to make another move. I am sure they never dreamed he was going to use the money to finance another murder excursion to South America.


The whole thing is just HORRIBLE for everyone concerned. I am beyond words.....

ITA. However, what I thought was one of the strangest portions of the AL U.S. Atty. presser is they went out of their way to say how "cooperative" the Aruban authorities has been with them while pursuing these charges. They said it about 3 times. I found it strange because, God knows, before now Aruba has done NOTHING to help put Joran behind bars for anything.

It's very strange that Greta put out Beth Holloway's name and it is not being discussed on Issues that it was Beth Holloway that gave the $15,000.00 IF Beth gave the $15,000.00.

For some reason, I just can't see Beth paying $250,000.00 to Joran in this manner. She is way too smart to get caught up in this scheme.

The purpose of the timing of the extortion charge will play into the trial. It is extremely important that the US, Aruba and Peru including Chile are on the same page. IMO

So, I guess he was getting low on the money, that Beth gave him, and stole the $5,000 from Stephany. What a life this guy feels he is entitled to, gambling away the money he begs, steals and extorts from others.
