MANILA, Philippines — The family of Miss Grand Philippines 2023 candidate Catherine Camilon is asking for any information about the pageant queen, who has been missing for almost a week now.

Last Friday, Catherine's sister Chin-chin posted on Facebook a public plea to an unnamed work colleague of the beauty queen for information of Catherine's whereabouts as she was aware her sister was with them the night she went missing.

Chin-chin said in her post that Catherine last called at 8 p.m. of October 12 but her phone has been off since the following morning, "Hanggang ngayon at hindi din po nago-online, palagi po sya nagu-update sa amin, ngayon lang po talaga hindi."

According to the Philippine News Agency, Batangas Vice Governor Mark Leviste in an interview said he is personally offering the reward and is now in touch with Catherine's family to help with the case.

"I visited this morning at the family home of Ms. Catherine Camilon. I listened to their story and contacted the Tuy police to find out the latest developments in their search and investigation," he said.

Police are optimistic that missing beauty queen Catherin Camilon is still alive, according to Police Regional Office 4A chief Police Brigadier General Paul Kenneth Lucas on Tuesday.

Her mother said she was supposed to meet someone in Batangas City, but she did not show up.

Batangas Police Provincial Office Director Police Colonel Samson Belmonte ordered "intensified efforts in tracing and gathering information" on the whereabouts of Camilon.

The police added that "stations and units across Batangas Police Province are working together with the Tuy Municipal Police Station in searching for any trace or information."

Lucas, in a statement, also said Camilon's sister, Ching-Ching, received a message allegedly from the former's close friend, who informed her about the identity of the said police officer.

The police officer also gave Camilon the vehicle she used, and that the two of them agreed to meet on the day of Camilon's disappearance.

Lucas said the police officer in question has been relieved of his current post pending investigation.

The investigators found out that a text message was sent, the date of which was not specified, to Camilon’s sister allegedly from a close friend of the latter.

“The text message contains information from the close friend about the romantic relationship of Catherine and the police officer, and that the police officer was the one who gave the vehicle Catherine used which was caught on the CCTV footage,” the statement said.

“On the text message, the friend also mentioned that Catherine and the police officer agreed to meet on the day of her disappearance,” the statement added.

“We in PRO-Calabarzon and other supporting units of the PNP both remain committed to finding Miss Catherine Camilon and bringing her home safe,” Lucas said.

These two witnesses said on the night of October 12, they passed by Santa Catalina Subdivision going to Bauan, Batangas on board a motorcycle from a friend’s house.

They decided to stop on the side of the road to relieve themselves and saw three men transferring a female body from a gray Nissan Juke into a red Honda Sports Utility Vehicle.

They added that one of the men confronted them at gunpoint and ordered them to leave the area immediately.

The witnesses identified the man after a series of questions and presentations of several pictures, including the person of interest and his known associates.

“They also identified the Nissan Juke used by the victim on the day of her disappearance as the same vehicle they saw that night, including the red Honda SUV,” Lucas added.
