n American passenger has been held at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport by the Immigration bureau for attempting to transport a six-day-old child in her luggage.

The bureau identified the passenger as Jennifer Talbot, 43 years old. The infant was alive and "hidden in an oversized belt bag." Talbot also did not declare nor present the infant to the Immigration inspector during departure formalities.

It is hard to imagine she could have been so incredibly stupid to think that she could fly back with no papers. She already has 5 kids that she will probably not be able to see for a very long time.
Don't like to see kids separated from their parents but in this case the kids will probably be better off considering their mother is an idiot.

She has been charged with human trafficking. The baby’s alleged mother and father also have been charged under a child protection law, but authorities have not been able to reach them directly.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development had made contact with a woman named Maricris, who said she met Talbot online to discuss a possible adoption. Authorities said that Talbot flew to the Philippines ahead of the baby’s birth and took the child from the city of Davao to Manila, where she was apprehended.

Talbot had a notarized affidavit declaring that she intended to adopt the baby, but it lacked Maricris’s signature.

Jennifer Talbot looks on as an airport division chief shows a bag which Talbot allegedly used to carry a baby through the airport.

The defendant, who spoke only to confirm that she was from Ohio, is accused of violating anti-trafficking and kidnapping laws, as well as legislation protecting children against abuse and exploitation.

U.S. Embassy officials were notified of Talbot's arrest and told Philippine authorities that she has no criminal record in the U.S.

Talbot faces life imprisonment in a Philippine jail and a fine of some $38,500 to $96,200.

The baby’s biological mother was listed as Maricris Dulap, 19. The baby's parents have been charged under a child protection law but have not been placed under arrest, although the mother has been interviewed by social welfare officers.

Talbot had claimed Dulap was a friend of her brother's ex-girlfriend and that she stayed at Dulap's house from the day the baby was born until she flew with the infant from Davao in the south to Manila. By contrast, Dulap said the pair met online.

Jennifer Talbot, 42, was paraded on Philippines TV today after officials announced charges of human trafficking, child abuse and kidnapping

She faces life in Philippine prison and fines of up to $96K if she’s found guilty

Talbot allegedly arranged to adopt a six-day-old baby from a 18-year-old expectant mother who she first met online, then attempted to fly home with the boy to the US on Wednesday

Talbot, who is married with ‘five special children’, was able to pass through the airport’s immigration counter on Wednesday without declaring the child

But she was intercepted at the gate of her connection to the US before boarding

Talbot told officials she was the child’s aunt but had no documents to prove the relationship

The infant’s mother, Maricris Cempron Dulap, and the father, believed to be based in Davao City, in the Philippines have also been charged with child abuse but remain at large

Talbot has been charged with violating the Anti Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003.

She had a notarized affidavit declaring that she intended to adopt the baby but it was not signed by the child's mother, according to CNN Philippines.

She gave no information on whether the child had been given or sold.

Authorities said the mother has been identified and will be charged, however police have not been able to find the child's father.

Public records indicate Talbot has been living in Utah. Philippines officials previously said Talbot was from Ohio, and records indicate she has family connections there.

Property records obtained Thursday show Jennifer Erin Talbot owns a home in a suburb of Salt Lake City and got a traffic citation there in March.

People answering the door in Sandy, Utah, declined to comment to The Associated Press.

Wonder if her other 5 children are all biologically hers or if not, if they were legally adopted

Utah woman who 'tried to smuggle baby' is thrown in dirty Philippines jail after pleading not guilty | Daily Mail Online

Jennifer Talbot, 42, appeared in Pasay City Regional Court, Manila, Tuesday morning where she was arraigned before being transferred to Pasay City Jail where she is now being held.

The notoriously squalid jail was built to house 1,050 but has held more than eight times that number.

Cells built to hold 40 inmates and measuring 245 sq ft regularly hold more than 100 and there were a dozen inmate deaths reported last year due to heat and overcrowding.

Utah woman who tried to smuggle baby out of Philippines is charged with kidnapping | Daily Mail Online

Officials said no government travel approval had been issued for the baby, prompting them to file human trafficking charges last year against Talbot.

Talbot also violated at least two other laws, kidnapping and illegal detention, the prosecutors said.

Talbot was served with an arrest warrant for kidnapping on Monday while she was attending a court hearing related to the trafficking charge.

There is no bail available for kidnapping.

An initial hearing on the kidnapping charge is scheduled on March 12.
