Absolutely not.
I am saying that if we PRESUME based on LE statements that their is only a mtdna result, IT IS ONLY DUE TO THE FACT that Caylee's parentage has yet to be established conclusively.

To get a full DNA profile you need KC, Caylee, and Caylee's Dad for comparison for the Nuclear result.

I am saying in my opinion, if the reports are correct on the mtdna result it says 2 things to me:

1) We know that the hair is not KC's because her DNA profile is available, AND she is alive.

2) Until ( if it has not already) Caylee's paternity is conclusive via DNA, it is impossible to deliver a DNA profile as their is absence of the paternal markers.

I have posted on this since that presumed mtdna result "came out" I think that is why KC has not been arrested as of yet for one reason. You have to know conclusively it is Caylee's DNA in that trunk, kwim?

Don't they have a full profile from Caylee's toothbrush?

No, NancyT - we do not.

I concur. Personally, I think that was leaked for a reason.
Anyone remember how that announcement coincided with the limited immunity deal?

snip

And respectfully, they do not need to know Caylee's paternity in order to do a full nuclear DNA profile, if the root is attached. They can match the DNA from other known samples, such as her tooth brush or hair brush.

Now see, we went and did it. Found something we both agree on.

I see what you are saying. If the lab had to test for mtDNA and not for nuclear DNA, then the hair had no root. If the hair had no root how could there have been a root band?

Here is what you originally said that I responded to. Let me emphasize.

"If the lab had to test for mtDNA and not for nuclear DNA, then the hair had no root."

That is not true. ANOTHER POSSIBILITY would be the root of the hair was too degraded to obtain nuclear DNA. There are only 2 strands of nuclear DNA to a cell, there are hundreds or thousands of mtDNA to a cell. Therefore, the hair could still have had a root. I wish I could remember the technical term for this false reasoning.

Technically, in theory, let's say yes, possibly.
But the manner of testing to prove it is Caylee's, requires paternity.

It would be the equivalent of taking a child's toothbrush to court to establish paternity and saying "no need to test him" she's his, here is her toothbrush. Without the paternal comparison it is not conclusive; it's heresay.

The bolded part is absolutely and totally wrong. You do not need paternity to have a complete profile. Nuclear DNA stands on it's own and can be matched to other known samples. Let me put it this way~what if a person had an adopted child who went missing and the body of a child was later found? Because of the condition of the body DNA testing has to be performed. DNA of both birth parents is totally unknown, but a the childs tooth brush was provided for comparison. Nuclear DNA testing is done and matched with the known sample. Do you see what I am saying?

I'm sorry to chime in and say this, but is there anyway to take this conversation and move it to a more appropriate thread?

I normally don't like to nitpick on message boards, but I keep seeing new posts in this thread and think it is related to ZFG and the picture, but instead it is more talk about the hair strands.

I don't mean to offend, but it's just frustrating when trying to follow a certain thread.

Yes, they do. They also have Caylee's complete DNA profile from the lab that did the paternity testing for JG.

And I responded that as of yet we have no evidence that the sample was degraded.

Following that line of reasoning, do you believe if in fact there is only a mtdna result, and KC gets charged with murder, LE shows the profile obtained from Caylee's toothbrush, that JB does not come out with Barry Schoeck in tow crying "you can't prove that is Caylee".. ??

I don't understand. Why would it be necessary to proof who Caylee's father is in order to compare her known DNA to found DNA? If hair from Caylee's hairbrush matches the DNA found in the car, it's a pretty sure indicator that the hair in the car is Caylee's.

Yes, they do. They also have Casey's complete DNA profile from the lab that did the paternity testing for JG.

...but JG wasn't the father, so they don't have the paternal for comparison.

Isn't there a way to get a moderator on here? I am sick of reading about DNA and Hair samples when the thread is about a picture search. PLEASE bring this conversation to another thread.

I wonder if the elusive picture will be presented to the GJ in Casey's defense?

Consider the source: In this instance the source of the article about the picture is Todd Black - and I have a lot of questions about Todd Black - including does the man even exist? I would love to see him - just once, even a picture would do. In all the press releases, statement he has made so far, he does not seem to do very well at all.

However, the article says it took awhile to track the man down. Now, the only person I can remember being out of state who knows Casey is the Marine and I doubt it would be hard to find him. So, perhaps this is one of those tips that came to the Anthonys. A man called them or emailed them and said Hey, I have a picture that I took while my family and I were in Orlando at *insert park here* and we were just looking at the pictures and 'Oh My Goodness' we noticed in the one where my wife and kids are standing in front of *insert ride/building/exhibit here* there is Casey, Caylee and another woman off to the left. I just KNOW it's her! So the Anthonys try to get in touch with this man who is either out of town on business, his email is down, his voice mail is full. They finally reach him, he sounds credible to them *I think Bullwinkle would sound credible to them at this point*, so they send PI's out to talk to him and take possession of the picture.

There, got that out there and would love to know what other people think about who the man might be and does he KNOW Casey or is he just 'an accidental witness'?

Hey! I think I've got THE photo!

No defense case is presented to the GJ.

I read somewhere today...On this thread, IIRC, it was said that he was a friend of Casey's. Not sure where that info came from, but I don't mind going and trying to find it or something else that might clarify that question. But before I go, I would like to offer one possibiliy. It has been mentioned many times, and even you above mention a marine, the fact that Casey knows alot of people in the military. I know it isn't on the news much anymore, but there are regular deployments to and from there as we speak. Being a member of a family with an active duty marine, I can tell you that it isn't always easy to get in touch with them. JMO
