Not sure about Xana’s family but we know at least 2 of the 4 families are happy with this outcome. I get both sides.
I read the father's statement on X-- he's feeling very betrayed by the State but trying to focus on his plan for July 5 which is Xana's birthday. :(

The families of the victims who were presumably asleep or passed out when murdered, Maddie and Ethan, supported the plea deal.

The families of the victims who were undoubtedly awake when murdered, Kaylee and Xana, were against the plea deal.

I understand why the families whose children were slaughtered while awake and fighting back might not be satisfied by anything less than the firing squad for their children’s murderer.

However, I hope the Goncalves and Kernodle families eventually come to accept that the firing squad was in no way guaranteed for the vile murderer, and that the guilty plea was the only way to guarantee that he pay for his unconscionable acts.

Check your post - you recited the same victim's names in both your examples (families supporting vs against the plea deal). It's clear from your final paragraph that you meant to include Kaylee and Xana in the second paragraph.

JMO he looks terrified out of his wits and frantic as if he could do 'anything'.
He probably also realised he's never going to see the woman he's been sitting beside and who showed him kindness ever again. What is the officer standing behind him doing?

Also BK looks as if he may have a suicide / safety padded vest under his shirt. JMO

I think he is wearing a bullet proof vest. He appeared to be wearing one at the other hearings too.

Mr. G.
... The only way he might be helped with an intervention is through his family or another parent who has endured similar trauma, as I doubt anyone else could begin to understand, no matter how much they want to help him.
I wish him and all of the families healing.
@Chimera sbmff
I wonder if a person in Mr. G.'s shoes would ever believe that "another parent ... has endured similar trauma."

Yet it's been reported* that some parents of the other students at 1122 King - mercilessly killed the very same way at the same time by BK - talked w Mr. G.

"I think some of the other family members of the murdered students probably have tried to talk to him. Clearly MM's family attorney yesterday was doing that in some of his comments."

I recognize and respect that some victim’s families feel robbed of justice, but I am scared for Steve if he crosses a line in his anguish and ends up imprisoned himself.
rsbm

i was thinking about this - sharing a phone number (even if it can be found online) to your followers online could be considered doxing, and especially when it’s done with the intent to incite harassment or intimidation or unwanted contact it could be considered a crime. and from what the judge says it did result in calls that had to be forwarded to LE. i’m not sure what the laws around this are in the US, and i don’t imagine anyone really wants to charge SG.

i have a lot of empathy for SG and i think it’s really valid for him to be angry. it just sucks when it seems like his anger might be hurting both others and himself.

Ahhh man 😔
I hate that he feels like he has failed his daughter and hate that he's visibly in absolute agony, but the judge isn't his enemy. The prosecutors are not his enemy. Idaho law enforcement are not his enemy and the Kohberger family are not his enemy. He's in so much pain that he's lashing out blindly and I get why he's upset, he had his mind set on a death verdict which is the most severe sentence given, I get it. We have to remember though that this man has been full of chew for years - slamming on everyone, leaking to media, even the firing squad t-shirts in court 😑 I just wish he would try to remember though that there are 3 other sets of families going through the exact same pain, no more no less, and the fact that however sly he finds this plea deal, it's definitively certain now that the monster will never have the ability to harm someone else's daughter.

I do hope that he in future channels all of his emotion into something productive as opposed to blind hatred which will land him in hot water eventually. A charity or legislation for women's safety in college or something in Kaylee's name.

Brutal 😞
I feel that not giving BK life without parole is what minimized this for her Father. He will be eligible for parole in future years! <MOD NOTE: See following comments regarding LWOP>

Bbm.
Yes, that's correct !

Also I'm wondering if SG is not speaking to them ?
Would he maybe be willing to listen to someone outside of this, but who've lost their child to murder ?
Idk.
I wish him healing and don't want him to get into legal trouble.
Imo.

Umm... I believe BK cannot appeal, ever -- and does have life with no possibility of parole ??
He will die in prison from what I understand , and deservedly so.
Imo.

Luckily, all five sentences are consecutive. Given the nature of his crimes and the shortened life span of prisoners, I wager he’ll die in prison.

IMO

But he hasn't been sentenced yet.

It will happen on 23rd July.

Oh trust me I'm not disputing or demeaning any of that. I cannot imagine the pain and anger he's feeling and all of his feelings about the plea deal are valid and justified. I can understand that his blind rage fueled lashing out is his choice right now, but that doesn't mean I cannot speak up as to how damaging it may be for him personally y'know? Nobody wants to see him get into any trouble but I fear that if he carries on as he is right now, that may happen. I don't believe anything would help ease his suffering. Say trial went ahead with BK maintaining his not guilty plea, the prosecutions evidence would be laid out there (we don't know if they have any more evidence than what's in the PCA) would he be satisfied with that? Say a jury determined he is guilty, would that satisfy him fully? Say the jury sentenced him to death and the lonnnnng drawn out speel began of appeal after appeal, is that satisfactory? Regardless of a trial or this plea, that creep is not going to give the answers that SG has stated he wants. Even if pigs got up and grew wings and he did, would that satisfy SG? I truly feel like there's nothing at all possible that would be "enough" for SG and there isn't nothing that will ease his pain but time. Time where he is still in the horrific ocean of grief, he's just developed the ability to stay afloat better 😔 That's not to say that I don't admire his passion for justice for his daughter, I just don't believe that his version of justice exists unless he was put in a room with BK alone with zero legal repercussions.
The jury would have decided death, life without parole or what he received which makes him parole eligible!! I can’t imagine agreeing to life without the option of parole on a plea!

NEW: I’ve been texting back and forth with the Mogen family. They arrived in Boise last night. This is their new family statement. They are supportive of the plea deal and are asking people to do an act of kindness in honor of Maddie.

Many posters agree with you. LYK also said Judge Hippler could have been gentler. I wondered if the events last Friday in Couer d'Alene had any effect on his reaction. Multiple first responders dead & wounded at the hand of someone with a gun and a grudge. Flags flying at half-mast over the courthouse. In his rage, SG is actively fanning flames on social media, and given recent events, JH was stern in telling SG (IMO he was speaking to him, specifically, without naming names) to cool his jets. I don’t think SG was urging violence, but given the number of highly disturbed people with guns in this country, JH's admonition didn’t seem overly harsh to me. Just my personal opinion.
I felt the Judges comments were uncalled for! It was victim shaming!

I'm sure this is incorrect. The plea came with no parole and no appeals... Can anybody else weigh in as I'm currently on a train and signal is sketchier than heck 🖤
