Somebody asked a question about this at the presser. What in holy hell is that doing there?

I don’t know.
I can’t find the original picture they are talking about.
But if it’s true what folks are saying, that’s on his attorneys for allowing that. Very disrespectful.

At the time, Othram had an existing contract with Idaho State Police Forensic Services (ISPFS) to support forensic DNA analysis. The two organizations had successfully collaborated on cold cases in the past. However, this marked the first time ISPFS considered applying Othram’s advanced technology to an active, real-time homicide investigation. Investigators reached out to determine whether Othram’s forensic sequencing and genealogical tools could help identify the source of the unknown male DNA and move the case forward.

Representatives from Idaho State Police Forensic Services and the Moscow Police Department personally transported the forensic DNA evidence to Othram’s laboratory in The Woodlands, Texas. Using the same forensic DNA evidence that had previously been used to generate the STR profile, Othram scientists applied Forensic-Grade Genome Sequencing® to develop a high-resolution SNP profile. The profile was developed in a matter of days, reflecting the urgency of the active investigation where a continued public threat would continue to exist until the suspect could be identified.

This was an unprecedented process at the time, demonstrating that high-resolution forensic DNA profiles could be generated real-time to support active investigations.

Shortly after the development of the SNP profile, forensic genetic genealogy enabled law enforcement to identify close relatives of the unknown suspect. These leads quickly converged on a single individual, Bryan Kohberger. At the time of the murders, Kohberger was a graduate student studying criminology at Washington State University, located just across the state line from the University of Idaho.

In December 2022, investigators collected a DNA sample from discarded trash outside the Pennsylvania home of Kohberger’s parents, where he was visiting during winter break. A forensic DNA profile was developed from the discarded trash and then compared to the forensic DNA profile generated from the crime scene evidence. The comparison helped law enforcement link Bryan Kohberger to the crime scene.

BTW - has it been confirmed that the house was unlocked on the night? Was it always unlocked, maybe to let people come and go if it was a party house? We know he was scoping out the area for a long time and that it didn't seem like a random attack but was it targeted because he knew it was always unlocked?

according to the Ward & Patterson book, the lock was basically broken and everybody in their circles knew that. There was never a ' Xanas dad came to fix the slider lock' situation, as was reported back in early 2023

OK thanks - I guess he probably came prepared for a locked door if he'd had attempts at breaking into places before, and just got 'lucky' it was broken.

A defense attorney in this situation is in a difficult position. It is her job to represent her client, right to the end of the case. I think she is handling it professionally and I applaud her for taking on death penalty cases and doing her job until the end. She is upholding the values of our Constitution and criminal justice system. She's no coward, IMO, she is a brave person to do this kind of work and withstand the hatred that has been targeted toward her for her representation of BK.
I take your point, in terms of what it takes to defend a client facing death. I don't hate her for representing BK.

That said, if you're going to do that work, and you know the client is guilty because he confessed, she could have the grace to look at the survivors and the families. Would it be hard? Yes. But it would be respectful.

Visitors, yes, but there are no conjugal visits in Idaho.
I hope he gets a visit from Keith Morrison, of Dateline, for another BK story. The End.

I didn't see this specifically posted about, so I'll mention it- BT made it a point to address the defense attempting to put the blame on innocent friends just before they came asking for the plea deal. I don't have his quote, but if anyone can find that, it felt very satisfying to see him put the smack down on the defense team regarding that.

I know the judge and the prosecutor both said that this killer could not be compelled to give details about his crime, but I have real doubts about that.
Certainly, just sitting there as an individual and citizen this killer does not have to incriminate himself. Plead the 5th and all that.
But this was a plea deal; two sides negotiating.
Defense says, he’ll plead guilty if you take the death penalty away.
Prosecution responds, we’ll accept the plea deal and scratch the death penalty, but this killer will need to give a detailed confession and answer questions.
Defense answers, he doesn’t want to do that.
Prosecution responds, see you in court to make his appointment with the firing squad.
Defense says, it’s about his 5th amendment rights.
Prosecution responds, have him waive that right, like he did his right to appeal.
Defense says, he doesn’t want to.
Prosecution responds, see you in court.
This doesn’t seem hard to me.
I hear ya, but tbh, i wouldn't trust anything that comes out of his mouth. Maybe it's best he stayed muted as he fades away.

I don't think that books story will hold up when documents are released, the stalking theory according to LE hasn't been proven, if their was target is another not proven, and even if their was a target that is unknown, no known connection between Kohberger and victims,
I dont think they knew anymore than the internet knew
