According to Supp 51 of the
Moscow Police investigation documents, Kaylee’s bed did have sheets, and she appeared to have used the bed in the hours before the murders:

According to
ABC News, though:
Bill Thompson himself addressed this in his hour-long interview with The Idaho Stateman investigative reporter Kevin Fixler, which Fixler recounts in a
Courtroom Confidential video. Here’s my summary that I posted previously:
- Referring to the fact that the sheets were pulled back on Kaylee’s bed, Fixer asked Thompson if it’s possible that Kaylee was sleeping in her own room and then went into Maddie‘s room after hearing the commotion. Thompson said that is not what his observation of the scene showed. Both girls were underneath the covers in Maddie’s bed, in their pajamas (indicating they were both in the bed when the murderer entered Maddie’s room).
So Kaylee may have
started out in her own bed, but she apparently
fell asleep in Maddie’s bed before the two were brutally murdered (perhaps after attempting to reach her ex-boyfriend by phone with Maddie).

ETA: Sorry,
@Warwick7, for duplicating what you posted. I responded to the post because it addressed things I had posted about before, but then it took me a long time to find the links. You posted your response while I was still composing mine. This happens more frequently than I like, so I think I’ll take a break from posting and focus on sleeping more with the remainder of my break.
