Had the man who approached these young women divined somehow that he had come upon his victims at a time when they were particularly vulnerable, where they were not thinking as clearly as they usually did? It would almost seem so. The stalking, predatory animal cuts the weakest from the pack and then kills at his leisure.

• Referring to the fact that the sheets were pulled back on Kaylee’s bed, Fixer asked Thompson if it’s possible that Kaylee was sleeping in her own room and then went into Maddie‘s room after hearing the commotion. Thompson said that is not what his observation of the scene showed. Both girls were underneath the covers in Maddie’s bed, in their pajamas (indicating they were both in the bed when the murderer entered Maddie’s room).

So Kaylee may have started out in her own bed, but she apparently fell asleep in Maddie’s bed before the two were brutally murdered (perhaps after attempting to reach her ex-boyfriend by phone with Maddie).

Bryan Kohberger was detained as part of a traffic stop that occurred in Moscow, Idaho, by CPL Duke. At the time, Kohberger, who was the sole occupant. Pennsylvania plate LFZ-8649 which was set to expire on November 30, 2022.

We found out from LE ( Gilbertson) yesterday that he had a regular habit of taking selfies. They found a ton of them on his phone. ( Another problem for the Prosecution, it wasn't just taking a selfie that morning) Interviewer didn't follow up iirc - so who did he send these too?

Was that within the series of purchases he'd made in case he had a tyre flat? I'd wondered if he was going to fake replacing a tyre as an excuse to park up somewhere but in some rural places that means locals will stop and offer help so might be self-defeating. ( They do that where we live)

Wait, I'm confused...

Does it matter at all what was written on pg 118 of the original manuscript?

I thought the point was that BK had underlined pg 118 of the book or manuscript, or whatever it was, that he was reading. That is important because he underlined something that he thought was important.

It doesn't matter at all what page number it would be in the original manuscript or another edition etc---IT ONLY MATTERS WHAT IS ON PG 118 OF THE BOOK IN HIS POSSESSION.

So we need to find out exactly what book or manuscript he had underlined, or find the original case notes which discussed the underlined pages.

IMO

Even if we find the title of the book in BK's PA room with the underlining, page number will mean nothing unless we also know:

1) hard cover, trade paperback, or mass market paperback
2) which edition (and sometimes which publisher if it is an older book and it has been printed by several different publishers).

It's a fun speculation, but without those exact details it's kind of a fool's errand in terms of trying to be sure of accuracy.

Since the FBI made the model I'll assume it was made from the plans that have been posted before. The measurements of the rooms etc. are on there. But that doesn't mean it was built to those exact measurements.

IIRC, Kaylee's room was much larger than Maddie's. Basically just large enough for a bed and a table/desk.

Does anyone recall that the deck went all the way across the back of the house? I thought there was only a deck off of Kaylee's room.

The FBI would most likely be using actual measurements that they took while they were there as well as the 3d scans conducted. The room layout and plans shifted radically from the blueprints of the proposed plans in June 2000 when they were first looking at doing the add-on. For example, Dylan's bedroom and the closet between those stairs and the kitchen weren't on there. The stairs to the 3rd floor weren't supposed to be the two sets side by side like they ended up being but had a different configuration. On the June 2020 blueprints there was no 2nd floor bathroom.

The FBI would have made the model pretty close to accurate measurements but by saying it's not to perfectly and exactly to scale and using it as a demonstrative model instead of having to fight to have it accepted in as evidence meant they could complete it faster, which was important because at the time they were working on it I seem to recall the trial date was set earlier.

But from looking at those June 2020 blueprints and looking at the current room layout, as well as measuring some features in my house like a stairwell laid out like theirs going to the 3rd floor, I estimated Maddie's room was about 8' x 10', give or take some.

Finally caught up here, and nearly done reading through the released files.

By upstairs do you mean 3rd floor or do you mean he entered on the 1st floor and went up to the 2nd? From what I've read of the documents, HJ didn't go up to the 3rd floor.

However, the docs do give the impression that he did set foot either in or very close to Xana's room (in that little hall) before he went to the kitchen to grab a knife that he then took with him as he looked in the closets on the 2nd floor to see if the murderer was still there. So, there is a possibility that it was from him.

However....the PCA was written in December. LE had already interviewed Hunter J at that point, and he would have told them his path in the house. If they didn't take a print of his shoe for comparison at that point, they could have done so in the intervening weeks between the murders and the writing of the PCA. Even if they didn't ask him about his shoe until mid December, he could have told the size, brand, and model if he either no longer had the shoe or wasn't in town (which I believe he wasn't), and they would have been able to confirm if it was his/likely to be his/or unlikely to be his.

The fact that it was still in the PCA at the end of Dec as unknown makes me believe that HJ was already eliminated as the source of the print as well as any LE who were in the house, and any of the inhabitants of the house as well.

IMO Kaylee wouldn't have been found in the position she was, between the wall and Maddie. She'd have run like hell either to her room, or downstairs as soon as she saw some stranger with a bloody knife. She wouldn't have run into the room.

As for her bed looking as if someone had just gotten out of it... Sounds like my bed, 24/7/365. I only make the bed when I change the sheets. Period. I figure I'm just going to get back into it that night, so why bother making it?

I'd change my thinking if we heard that Kaylee was one to NEVER EVER not make her bed as soon as she gets out of it. Otherwise she could be just like me in that regard.

I think Kaylee may have come home and changed into pajamas, played with Murphy a bit, and tried to text her ex. She may have made her way to Maddie’s room and asked Maddie to text him and see if he would answer her. It was stated that Maddie did not regularly text him, but she did that night. Regular young drunk texting and hanging out with your closest friend. She might have laid down next to Maddie and they chatted and texted and fell asleep together.
