GUILTY PLEA DEAL ACCEPTED - 4 Univ of Idaho Students Murdered, Bryan Kohberger Arrested, Moscow, Nov 2022 #114

  • #3,441
I watched the hearing.
The State admitted they erred in requesting reimbursement to the families for travel expenses by statute and they now are just requesting money for funeral expenses per the plea deal. It sounded like that amount all totalled would amount to less than $4,000.
Yet, BK’s attorneys still argue 1) he shouldn’t have to pay it even though it’s specifically in the plea agreement and 2) he is destititute though his prison account appears to have plenty of money.
What is wrong with these attorneys?! Their argument in my opinion amounts to nothing more than pouring salt on the families’ wounds. There is no reason for it. It is ugly and unnecessary.
If BK doesn’t want to pay, then he is reneging on the plea agreement he signed.
The judge should declare it null and void and set a date for trial.
After the victims are reimbursed, the majority of the funds in this account should be used to repay the county and LE depts. that assisted in bringing Bryan to justice. Forget having an iPad and other technologies. The tech goodies can become available after bills are paid.

Depends what he considers favor.

I don't think he values freedom and family like the rest of us do. Most of us most of the time value them and it helps us live within our moral and civil codes, staying on the good side of the law.

He operates in a different realm. The ivy reason he didn't kill anyone sooner isn't IMO because he didn't want to; he wasn't ready. He was still strategizing, assembling, salivating.

I think he feels thrill where we feel fear. He feels power where we'd feel shame.

Thumbs up, he was pleased with what he'd done. Horribly disordered, to put it mildly.

So for him to watch the surviving roommates testify -- to see their fear -- I daresay he would live for that. He's gross that way.

I don't think he'd care if it served his trial poorly. He's all in his head. It would feed
that beast.

As it was at his sentencing hearing, while at first blush, he appeared stoic and unmoved, IMO he actually reacted a lot. Microaggressions. Duper's delight. Subtle expressions but they were there. It continued to be all about him. "I respectfully decline." No shame, no horror at what he'd done, no hung head, no care even for his own family. Just nasty reactive Bryem.

It's worth noting too that, while WE weren't made aware of the witness lists until late in the game, they weren't late in the game for BK.

What changed IMO is the State calling for a psych evaluation. AT had skirted that, called him ASDL1 with OCD... without any actual proof -- opening the door.

ASD isn't a protected class for DP purposes but let's say AT could convince a juror that BK was a sympathetic soul -- or one we ought to have sympathy for -- because of his impairments (forget his stable childhood, forget his generous IQ, forget his general fitness, forget his advanced degrees, forget his lived infependence). Now flip that on its ear. Instead, present his psychopath. A cluster of personality disorders, a history of uncharged offenses, a history of creepitude, high scores in narcissism, low scores in empathy, and there goes juror sympathy. He's an unlikable chap who commit unthinkable crimes because he could. Because he wanted to.

He knows what he is. He didn't relish hearing it from KG's sister either.

IMO he pled guilty to block the very testing that would have underscored KG's sister's litany. He knows she's RIGHT and he hates it.

I think it's safe to say he didn't plead guilty to spare anyone, he didn't do it to be nice, he did it so he could control the narrative in his head.

He'll fill his time now objecting to minor irritants thst irritate him majorly, make demands on Mother and Father as he always have, and gloat at what he will continue to tell himself was a successful mission, regardless of what the evidence shows.

Obnoxious.

JMO
So well stated!

Ok, I'm lost.... No I didn't watch it, but 4000.00 for funeral expenses? Is that per murder victim??

My Mom just prepaid for her own, it a little over 4500.00 for cremation.

My understanding is that those expenses were just for urns. I guess all of them were cremated.

This restitution thing is seriously peeing me off. By definition restitution means to "recompense for injury or loss" and whilst zero amount of money, sentence or anything can recompense for the four families losses, it's the damn principle! I bet my bum that none of the families want a single penny of his poisonous proberger pot, BUT he should be FORCED to pay! As should every single person that is found guilty of taking another's life. Ugh.
Also, 4k for funeral expenses?! Even if they're talking 4k for one funeral cost, that is on the low ball side imo as someone who's family owns and runs a handful of independent funeral directors, be it in the UK but I doubt that there's much of a difference over the pond. It's just insulting. The fact he's even getting more court time to feed his incelly creepy ego is insulting.

Speaking of insulting, y'all see the hoohar over the lifetime bilge and the actors portraying many people involved in this case? Jeeeeez it's not pleasant. I won't go into detail in case it's not allowed, but some seriously distasteful choices were made by some of the films actors and Sissy Goncalves is on the war path!
I had the same thought about the expenses. I'm also in the UK so idk what it's like in the US, but my impression is that funerals are expensive everywhere, especially if you're also accounting for the cost of the headstone/memorial

I missed one. This interview was conducted on the same day Bryan Kohberger was arrested.

Same rules. Not typically an approved source.

@Warwick7 and @MassGuy

Thanks for the new videos.

As I’m currently in Atlantic City losing my money at the casino, I’ll watch them tomorrow when I get home.

It’s always good to get some new information——not that this crime will ever make sense, no matter what we learn.

I don't agree with the choice of wording. I think part of the reason for the higher LE involvement was because they suspected a SK. Something caught their attention.

The proper word most likely is mutilation. I hate this case. There are more questions than answers. And, as we lean towards the anniversary, it is even more frustrating.

Positive thoughts to the families of MM, KG, XK & EC.

Yeah, I'm glad Joseph Morgan pointed out that the description is what you'd use with wounds prior to suicide, as opposed to murder. I think these are defensive wounds that are simply being misinterpreted. You're going to have various depths and angles, and if you are looking for something like that (torture) you would be able to interpret it that way.

He didn't have the kind of time to do that sort of thing, and when you factor in that his plan went to hell right away, there's just no way that interpretation is correct, in my mind at least.

As to the level of LE involvement - it's exactly what I would expect. You have a completely unprecedented crime, and you call in the world for something like this.

The tragic loss of Maddie Mogen, Kaylee Goncalves, Xana Kernodle, and Ethan Chapin shook our state to its core. Idahoans continue to offer our love and support to the families and many, many loved ones of these four beautiful souls.
