GUILTY PLEA DEAL ACCEPTED - 4 Univ of Idaho Students Murdered, Bryan Kohberger Arrested, Moscow, Nov 2022 #114

Where is the live feed? I don’t see it at the top.

BF took a photo at 2am on the bed with MM, KG, DM and Murphy. A perfectly perfect a snapshot of college life.

Two hours later, they were dead.

  • #2,363
2am they were all on KG's bed. Taking photos and selfie videos.

KG was getting ready for bed, getting into bed, so DM and MM took Murphy out. DM went back inside and into her room. MM couldn't find Murphy so she asked DM if he was with her. He wasn't.

Such normal, ALIVE moments ...

While he was probably.... sharpening his damn knife.

So unfair, so cruel.

You make a solid point. When exactly  did he sleep?
Here's something in BKs favor... the fact it appears he doesn't need much sleep, which he won't be getting in prison since the inmate's are taking turns harassing him, day and night, making it difficult for him to sleep or even think (which has been posted about above).

Always a silver lining! LOL

I've seen before that BK didn't need much sleep and I'd like to counter that with - yes he did! He might not have slept much, but look at his distorted thinking. Lack of sleep is not good for your brain. imo

He also, apparently ate once a day.

IMO, his body was not on even keel, ever, but often running on empty, and I suspect that affected him more than he was aware of. My opinion.

(Yes, I realize different people have different sleep needs and I know there are perfectly healthy people who eat once a day. I'm not addressing their habits, but I am commenting specifically about BK, a young man who is a murderer.)

I wonder if the eating once a day and vegan diet was his regimen so he would not return to his former size. I’d also like to know exactly what the scheduling conflict was that interfered with his TA duties-did he have a class at the same time he should have been assisting or holding office hours?

I am perplexed. Inmates buy regular ear plugs for noise all the time at the commissary. And ear buds for their tablets so they only hear their tablet, but not the outside noise.

Also, there are good noise cancelling headphones that will greatly dim down sound. I do not understand why these simple options are apparently completely lacking in his facility.

So easy to simply at least try to get something that blocks loud sound. He demands to be moved but won't demand the simple solution of a noise cancelling device?

I was at an IMAX movie and the volume was too high. I simply scrunched up pieces of napkin and stuck them in my ears and the sound was fine then.

That makes sense that they wouldn't have internet access, but what about in Idaho where he's imprisoned?

Also, Brian Entin said he'd have access to email, music and movies on a tablet in the video below. I'm pretty sure those require internet access. So back to hoping they limit what movies he can watch to Disney movies. lol

Lastly, the image in the video is supposed to be of his cell. It gives a difference vantage point of the toilet, but briefly. It might be a little taller than I had originally thought from other pics posted, but not by much.

I looked the PA information up when people were speculating the killer might want a transfer there. It also happens I live here so I was interested.

The media accessed by inmates in Idaho (and PA) is from a closed system and all media must be screened for violent or other sexual content by corrections officials. They don't access the internet but rather a closed system with selected choices.

He should have commissary privileges by now (the policy manual says that they have to go through intake and assignment to a "category" and then they get the commissary privileges (it isn't supposed to take more than a week).

They probably don't sell foam ear plugs in a prison commissary. But they do have single serve chips/crisps, various cookies, little boxes of cereal, shelf stable milk, etc. Everything has to be single serve and shelf stable. Looked at prison blogs and looks like basic candy bars (all of them milk-containing) are available there, but also small packets of peanuts. Peanut butter. Ramen.

Basically similar to the nutrition profile for many people all around the world, but certainly not devoid of preservatives (the opposite) and not healthy, fresh foods.

Fruit cups appear on sample menus in prisons all around the country, at virtually every meal. Those little plastic cup things. Single serve.

No In N Out. No pizza. No vegan Asian food. It turns out that many prisoners trade in "hot sauces" or "spice packets" from the ramen, since the food is so boring. Even people who hated hot sauce before prison may start using it.

Years and years ahead, of that diet. And it may be 6 months before he gets more than 1 hour out of his cell per day. Boring as heck, IMO.

Reposting. At 14 minutes GH is reading interviews of DM and BF.

It solves who was on the stairs.

*This is my personal observation, hearing the details anew.

Fact: KG was getting ready for and into bed around 2 am.

Fact: XK was found in a long sweat/shirt and panties.

DM believed KG ran up and down the stairs -- because "KG wears combat boots".

At 4 am, neither girl was wearing combat boots.

It had to be the felon she heard on the stairs.

JMO

* ETA I just now heard GH at 27 minutes make the same point -- about the boots on the steps and that it must have been BK. So I'm not the only one thinking that.

Meanwhile in S. Carolina, why was Kohlhepp able to be running a horrible business based on stickers of his crime off his iPad.
- I gather he signed and sold stickers of autopsy photos of his victims.

Makes total sense that it was neither woman wearing combat boots at that hour. But what doesn't make sense to me is the thought of 163214 running UP the stairs. I'd think he'd be stealthy going up (pre-murders), then whatever happened with Xana happened (she caught his attention) and then he ran down the stairs after her. But up? Hmmmm....

I can make as much sense out of him running up the stairs as I can with the firecracker noise and flash. IOW... None. lol

I’ve followed this case since the beginning, and have read a significant amount of these threads, but have only posted a few times here.

Let me preface this by saying my heart breaks for these four kids and their families. I’m so happy that this piece of garbage is behind bars and will never again taste freedom.

It seems likely that he thought he was smarter than everyone, particularly law enforcement. However, he thankfully had a number of miscalculations and missteps made before, during and after the murders. Poignantly, the heroic fights that (potentially) two of his victims put up was the primary reason for this case not going cold as it likely resulted in him leaving behind his DNA on the knife sheath.

It appears that those close to the case sound confident that even without the knife sheath DNA, the numerous video captures of him driving around the area immediately before and after the murders was going to be sufficient to eventually cook his goose.

That’s where my hypothetical goes to…eliminating or greatly reducing his car “footprint” during those early morning hours. What if he had decided to drive into the Arboretum from the southern entrance (Sand Rd) and then proceeded north until he was roughly parallel to King Rd.? It appears that he could’ve gone on foot from there and used a few smaller wooded sections in the residential areas to stay largely undetected. It seems like it’s less than 1/4 mile distance. Even if detected by Ring cameras, he’s dressed in all black from head to toe and wouldn’t be easily identified. I have no idea if there was security/video surveillance in the Arboretum that would’ve picked up his car or if there were cameras on the route leading there along Sand Rd or roads feeding into Sand Rd. I did want to get thoughts on whether this ultimately would’ve led to a more difficult time in identifying the perpetrator (let’s assume that the knife sheath wasn’t left behind in reality or under this scenario).

Thankfully, he left enough clues between his behavior (both in the academic setting and his private life), his miscalculations about being tracked via his phone pings as well as his online purchases, etc. to help make a strong case against him.

I do wonder though if this guy wasn’t such an obvious ticking time bomb weirdo and was more careful about not leaving digital footprints, would the scenario I suggested about setting up from the Arboretum been a significant blow to LE in tracking him down?

All of the above - MOO.

Thanks.

Yeah, there was a whole plotline in the prison episodes of Brooklyn Nine Nine about the illicit trade of highly sought after ramen flavours.

Prison food is highly monotonous, limited, and pretty much completely devoid of choice.

But a hundred or more years ago, they were probably just getting gruel, or hard bread. No food accommodations.

It's still awful - I feel strongly that stuff like a balanced, nutritious diet and comprehensive medical care are duty of care necessities for incarcerated people. They can't leave and buy appropriate food or get treatment, they are completely dependent on the DOC for access to those things. And if the diet is making people sick or shortening their lives, then it absolutely needs to be made better. But if it's just boring, not unhealthy, then BK just needs to suck it up. If he wanted a vibrant, varied diet of delicious grain salads, tofu, and seasonal produce, then he shouldn't have murdered four people.

FWIW and IIRC I think DM described it as "going up the steps" (no speed provided) and "running back down". That would comport with the lead foot, tailgater felon clamping his clampers on the stairs, thinking he's quieter than he is.

Fail.

I think the things that DM says that seems to not make sense to us have to be looked at in light of her state at the time:

--woken up from sleep
--still quite a lot of alcohol in her system
--someone who is used to lots of common household sounds (people walking around in the house, dog playing and walking around, doors opening/closing, music, etc) in the middle of the night. It would be natural for her to interpret sounds at 4 am as being one of those "normal" things...whereas in my house it would be a cause for alarm

And in many ways, a lot of those apply to BF as well. Plus both of them were likely going in and out of sleep during that 20 minute time period, so the brain starts combining events and mixing up the order of some events.

It's odd about some police reports talking about a sizzling firework sound, because on the bodycam footage I'd swear they talked about a bang like a firework going off. And it goes back and forth in the reports as to who heard/saw what when it comes to a flash of light and a bang.

For BF's light sighting, I wonder if Xana opening the front door to get her order woke BF up a bit and she saw the light from right outside the front door under her door (the paint on the walls in the hall there is a higher gloss I noticed)....and then she fell back asleep but misremembered it as happening later when she fully woke up with the table scraping/cups falling/and then the thud.

I wonder if BK (with his superior brain and infinite wisdom) decided that right from the start he wouldn't let anyone push him around - how's that working out for you Bryan?

Also they were used to people like Ethan's frat brothers playing pranks on them.

Sometimes I think I'm smart enough to be a PhD student because I can figure out some things that you-know-who can't.

When they threaten to do nasty things to you, Mr. You-Know-Who, what does it matter? Have you noticed you are in a cage? Exactly how would they get at you?

If the kids are taunting you, ignore them. Just think of it as so nice that a bunch of very bad guys can work together on a project and take turns and everything. They are looking to get a rise out of you. They will slow down or quit sooner if you act like you don't hear them. I was taught that when I was four and the boys going by to high school called me Nanny Goat.

File grievances sparingly. Complainers aren't popular. If you really have a beef (said that to annoy you), OK, but save the filings for things that someone besides you will think is halfway important. There are ways to do time, and I have to let you know this: it's not how you are doing it.
