They absolutely are. It works to my benefit though because they will keep posting about the lack of blood, and I can use that against them when we see photos that do contain blood.

I'm almost positive we will at some point.

Even with the ruler, the photos don't do it justice. 13" sheath. That knife was a holy hell dagger, oversharp.

To think of the (carbon) steel blade on that thing. Turned that loser into a lethal killing machine.

Pet peeve coming up...

Why do some people not place the object being measured at the very end of the ruler??? I'm always doing the math in my head. It's like.... HELLO!!! The object starts where the measurements on the ruler start.

Apparently that's too much to ask of people. smh

“O-Tol” = o-toluidine test, which is a presumptive positive for blood based on the plus sign.

These appear to be the locations where blood was found on the sheath.

Really painful to read the necessarily dry and clinical report and think of Maddie’s and Kaylee’s blood commingling as they bled out together.

Such tiny droplets... almost like spray... I don't want to imagine how they occurred. It may still have been in his hand while simultaneously disarming both girls, then left almost pristine, where it must have been shielded by blankets and MM's body. I think we're looking at how it looked, never bloody. Barely bloody. Sounds like most testing was consumption, very small amounts to work with. For me, it confirms that he started upstairs, it suggests that it was only unprotected for the briefest of time (or IMO it would have been saturated in blood, other spatter or pooled) and indicates IMO that his initial attack was a one-two knock-out. Perhaps a stab to one victim and a pommel to the other, comingling their blood which backsprayed onto the sheath before he let go of it, where it would be found. What followed had to be crazed.

Had KG not been there, I don't think he'd have left the sheath behind. If the DDD hadn't had difficulty delivering the DD order, BK would not have reversed his approach, the one which captured the missing license plate. Horrible, horrible, horrible crime, solvable because of random happenstance.

All so tragic. All because one human being couldn't, wouldn't, didn't fit into society and leaned hard into violence for his own sick entertainment. Brutally murdering four young people in the heart of their young lives, a devastating loss to their families and to the worlds they were bound to shape.

Blessed be their memory.

From what I recall in a class I took, it is because it is possible the "end" is worn. If you place any object at one inch, there is no way that mark might be off.

It made sense to me because I have rulers where the end is worn off up to 1/16th of an inch or slightly round at the end. I have measuring tapes where a metal end has rocked back and forth and the are also off by up to 1/16th of an inch.

I was using 1 inch as an example. They want to be sure all of the object is within accurate measurement lines.

Finally we have our answer to that blood spot found on the railing, and the blood found in the glove outside:

The DNA on the glove found outside 10 days after the murders was old and degraded. It contained 2 alleles, which is not remotely close to allow for a CODIS upload.

The DNA found on the handrail was a degraded mixture, also ineligible for CODIS upload.

BK has been ordered to pay restitution… all along, I thought if anyone sent him money, it had to go towards paying the families first. No? So he gets commissary funds from his family and fans? How does the restitution get paid?

I believe 20% of the amount an inmate has "on his books" can be removed to pay restitution.
