GUILTY PLEA DEAL ACCEPTED - ID - 4 Univ of Idaho Students Murdered, Bryan Kohberger Arrested, Moscow, Nov 2022 #114

Ooooooo, I want to know who the unidentified person is.

Can't fathom he found a friend.

Were they actually "together" or just happened to be shopping in sync?

I feel for anyone who was in his orbit, particularly around the time of the crime. To think they'd been standing next to him, unaware of how dark his dark energy could darken.

He kind of proved that he could enter any house any time and kill without compunction.

It doesn't get darker than that.

this is the first i've heard of anyone having to enter a code to get in the door, but I've not read all the documents exhaustively. I thought they were pretty lax about even locking the doors?

Front door on the lowest level had a keypad.

Seems that the slider on the middle level was broken so an easy point of entry (sliders themselves, easy enough to breach but was probably altogether unlocked that night).

Made sense for HJ to enter the door with the keypad -- he knew DM was with BF in BF's room, on that bottom floor.

That day the roommates came home to an open slider and no Murphy-- I do wonder if BK was there scouting around. Touching things, moving things, taking things, replacing things, mapping the lay of the land.

I also wonder if he broke the door.

And if that night was the first night he attempted to enter, knived for his mission.

For whatever reason, he didn't abort that night. Despite signs he maybe should have.

Still wishing that this feeble, weak, clumsy oaf would have tripped on his way in, injuring no one but his sorry self.

The roommates also informed Det. Mowery that the door to the King Road residence was generally closed, but there were “issues with locking and sometimes it could be opened without a code.”

County Prosecutor Bill Thompson said that he believes Kohberger broke into his victims' off-campus residence in the college town of Moscow on Nov. 13, 2022, through a sliding glass door on the second floor.

I’ve looked everywhere to find the Dateline episode “The Terrible Night On King Road”, where Keith Morrison had some rather amazing updates, but it shows unavailable everywhere I look. It aired in May of 2025 and I wanted to rewatch it. I’ve wondered if the court ordered it not to be shown because of the controversy it caused at the time. I’m so mad at myself for deleting it. Anyone else able to find it? TIA!

It's also on Prime, the NBC app and Peacock. Should be viewable there.

Yeah, I looked everywhere and can't find it either. No longer on Peacock. They remove and add episodes all the time, so I imagine it'll be on there again at some point.

It says unavailable on all for me. Thanks for looking.

There is a small but very loud group of people on social media, who believe the roommates actions (or inaction) proves that they were somehow involved. I've been arguing with these people since very early on, and it continues even now, despite overwhelming evidence and a guilty plea.

Most of them don't accuse them of being the killer(s), but they do accuse them of having some involvement with the people who did.

It's not so much illogical as it is insane, but these people do exist.

So if you're the defense you discredit them, you point out the strangeness of their behavior, and you basically throw up a Hail-Mary, hoping one of the jurors is a lunatic who doesn't believe Bryan Kohberger did this, because you can't get past the roommates' behavior.
Yes, these conspiracy loving minded people began on Day 1. Poor DM and BF were so traumatized and then to have to hear and read the comments made about them made me see red, like they hadn't gone through enough already.

They were young, naive college kids and DM was a known 'scaredy cat' among her friends. Something like this is NOTHING they could have ever guessed was possible. Gut instinct told her something might be off, but in no way did she ever imagine her roommates has been viciously slaughtered. And for those who keep asking if she saw Xana laying there on her way down to BF's room why didn't she call 911, even the friend that went in and found them didn't realize instantly that Xana was dead verses passed out. DM running down the stairs with a quick glance over (with the door partially closed) would have no reason to assume so either.

Give these survivors a break, they are already traumatized by this and will be for the rest of their lives. All you have to do is watch DM's impact statement. :(

To be a register of the range of fruitiness some people can bring I ask a simple question. Does anyone here know if there are any reports of fan mail being sent to the convict? I could post a near endless amount of articles that would give you an idea that some people do send these mass murderers, repeat rapists, family killers and worse all sorts of fan mail. Its not a stretch imo to think these people would also go with any other explanation other than them being guilty including conspiracies. Total fruit is a polite understatement as I could use much more accurate language.

Get to it if you think these kids would know how to react in that situation. That Takes experience and often its dearly bought. Running on instinct u
Is a much much more fitting explanation for the way they were.

With time I hope they recover and find peace again. I also hope they are able to move on from it. The worst cancer is the one that lingers.

Can someone please explain this to me from a legal perspective? I don’t mean any disrespect - genuinely just trying to understand. The prosecution’s role is to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the defendant was responsible for the crime. How does the roommates’ morning social media use or whether or not they checked on Xana prior to calling friends have anything to do with the jury’s view of the evidence presented against the defendant? Those two things seem wholly unrelated to me. Person B’s actions in the morning don’t hold any weight on my opinion as to whether person A did or didn’t do something the night prior. In my opinion it would be very, very difficult for the defense to try to argue that because a roommate checked LinkedIn in the morning, they’re the killer not the defendant? Is that the leap we’re supposing would have been made? Imo. Just trying to understand this argument.

It's actually not unrelated because the point people are making is that their behavior casts doubt on their credibility as witnesses. I haven't seen anyone saying they committed the crime or even that they were involved (I'm not on most social media so maybe that's why). It's just about their reliability and credibility as a witness that I've seen people refer to. I also felt this way before the plea. I just didn't think, based on the info we had then, that this was an open and shut case (for a variety of reasons) like many others did, though I did think BK was guilty. Guilty people are found not guilty sometimes, so any potential questions about witness credibility in this case was concerning.

MOO.

Wasn't the front door left open? I seem to remember something about the front door being reported as open by a neighbor early that morning, before the roommates woke up.

A neighbor interviewed by LE claimed the front door was open on Sunday morning 11/13, when he walked his dog through the neighborhood. However, I could not find any other witnesses or LE report to corroborate his story. Sometimes eyewitness accounts are not 100% reliable. He could have been recalling a different day.

Wasn't the front door left open? I seem to remember something about the front door being reported as open by a neighbor early that morning, before the roommates woke up.

Responding Moscow Police Department Officer Mitch Nunes said in a report, “footsteps went to and from the rear slider door. I observed the trail of foot steps head away from the slider then turn right, around a stump, in the back yard and lead toward the front of the house.”

“I observed a set of small hand prints on the window to the east of the slider. The screen to this window appeared damaged and was laying on the ground. I located smudged finger prints on the glass slider door,” he added.

Several people also had access to a code for the Moscow home, with one source telling authorities, “More people knew the code to their door than they should have,” and people were frequently coming in and out of 1122 King Road. The source was unsure if the rear sliding door was regularly locked.

A neighbor of the victims told police that he noticed the front door to the home was “wide open” the morning after the murders.

The roommates also informed Det. Mowery that the door to the King Road residence was generally closed, but there were “issues with locking and sometimes it could be opened without a code.”

Bryan Kohberger’s Sister Mel Breaks Her Silence on Idaho Murders, Says Family Had No Clue He Was the Killer

“If I ever had a reason to believe my brother did anything, I would have turned him in,” Mel Kohberger said in a new interview

From MSM
  • Bryan Kohberger's sister, Mel Kohberger, broke her silence in a new interview published in The New York Times on Jan. 3
  • Mel said her family had no clue that Bryan was the killer, and even recalled reaching out to tell him to be careful after learning of the Nov. 13, 2022, killings
  • Mel also revealed she had to leave her job in the wake of the killings after her employer received an influx of inquiries
Someone has even used the author name “Melissa J. Kohberger” to publish a book about the case, seemingly trying to capitalize on the killings using Mel’s likeness, according to The New York Times. Mel described this as “confusing” and “painful."

“It’s like being victimized but not really being a victim," she said.

After staying silent for three years, Bryan Kohberger's sister has started speaking to me about the collateral infamy their family has endured after he was charged (and eventually pleaded guilty) for the Idaho murders.No-paywall link:

The harrowing news had spread across the country in the fall of 2022: Four college students were found stabbed to death at a house near the University of Idaho campus. Mel Kohberger, who was preparing to start a new job as a mental health therapist in New Jersey, could not help feeling a sense of alarm.

Her brother, Bryan, was living just 15 minutes from the scene of the mysterious killings. Investigators had no suspects. And Bryan was just the type of person who would leave his door unlocked and go out on late-night jogs.
