This is interesting. I agree that BK and other criminals shouldn't make money off of their actions.
However, if the opportunity arose to pay BK for a full confession or more information, is that the worst thing? Knowing how egotistical he is, some sort of HBO special or book deal might be the only way he talks.
It sounds like the proposed law would put any "earnings" into a trust for his victims, which, although far from true justice, is a step in the right direction, IMO.
Even if the money didn't go into a trust, though, would it materially change anything for BK if he received a large sum of money? He's in prison for the rest of his life. He has no spouse or children.
Again, I don't agree with criminals profiting off their crimes. In this case, though, I don't see a way that BK could truly "profit" given the sentence.
