My problem is I liked Shylock. I thought Shylock was a great poster. Except I could never understand why Shylock would trash FFJ or me so much.

Normally I don't pay attention to this stuff. In fact I have files full of bizarre and downright funny threats from my years in broadcasting.

This one just really bothers me. I can't put my finger on it though.

Your analysis of the person who wrote this atrocious email is spot on. I envisioned a middle-aged spinster, like the stock "poison pen" character in an Agatha Christie mystery, sitting and cackling at her computer as she pecked out her message with two fingers.

This is definitely someone who leads a boring and unfulfilled existence, and acts out against the more interesting personalities in this Web Village.

The "poison pen" lady always gets exposed at the end of the story, and slinks away, back into her lonely, sad cocoon.

i totally think it's a woman who had a man's hat here for a while ... and she hasn't been around for a few months under her original hat .... the same words are misspelled in her posts and the same words used, like plump and a few others ....

I could be totally wrong but if you do a search for the word "gaurantee" spelled just like this, there's only 3 people who typed that word like that...
one is shylock ... and there are two others....

So if shylock typed it like that in a post AND in the email to Tricia, then that is how this person always spells it .....

Ok, so that could be coincidental? WELL, in that same post, there are words typed in between *asterisks* just like in those emails to Tricia .... ok, so a lot of people claim they do that??

But do they also use the word "plump"?
YEP this same person used that word in a totally different post.... in fact, used plump *twice* in the same post with yet again THREE words in between *asterisks* ...

Sometimes, you have to look for common writing styles and this could be totally coincidental, but I think it's right. This is unfortunate because I never had issues with this poster and now I'm here suggesting it's her.

After trying to make sense about Shylock, its still a little murky. I gather it had something to do with him/her using 2 hats, 1 of which was an imitation of another poster who previously used that hat.

I noticed that when Tricia made a statement of ownership of the forum, Shylock made a derogatory comment towards her which seemed to indicate he knew her previously. Then came the comment, described as an ad hominem attack, to another poster.

Looks to me like Shylock is a man. The posts as well as the e-mail above all seem masculine. I get no impression of imitation or posing as a man. Seemed like all the posts came from the same person and no other poster (at least at the JBR forum) sounded like him. Sorry, but I don't see any subterfuge. The comments in the e-mail sound more like boasts than reality. That was a funny comment about him being Jann Scott though. But Scott would never keep his posts as short as Shylock's usually were, and as noted the spelling didn't match.
