I am so relieved that he has chosen to isolate and center himself. I pray that he will see the difference between KC and Caylee.

I agree:) But even more so for him and his well being:)Caylee would want him to take care of himself:)

I am sorry that GA was so distressed and has required hospitalization. Knowing how hospitals get folks out the door asap, his situation must be serious indeed.

However, it seems to me that responsibility has become the "hot potato" in this family. GA is not responsible for any lies, mistruths, etc because he was henpecked by CA. CA is not responsible because she has been manipulated by KC. LA is not responsible because he has been maniupulated by KC and controlled by CA. KC, in turn, has issues because CA was a helicopter parent and GA didn't stand up to CA. Who then was the grownup on Hope Spring Drive ?
I dont condone GA behavior or what he is responsible for. IMO one has nothing to do with the other.Right now is the time for GA take care of himself and get the help he needs. All the other stuff isnt going any where and can be addressed later.

I wonder exactly what is meant when they say George his choosing to stay in the hospital. It's not like it's a hotel, people aren't given a choice of staying unless it's medically necessary.

I thought the defense was going to release the remains as soon as last week, now it's next week. It's no wonder George is struggling.

Not the same type of 'medically necessary' type of thing. He could be ok now, as far as 'medically' goes. The pills or what ever might be out of his system. But the reason he took them might still be an issue. In THAT, that is a whole different ball game.

I don't know if they have insurance, etc. It might be that no hospital (in his needs range) will take his case, etc.

Bolded by me

I'm confused. What two things have nothing to do with each other ?

Is he still in the Psych. unit, or on a general medical floor?

He can't pay as a private patient and stay? Do they have rehab facilities/treatment at the hospital?

I don't know. But why would he be in the general medical floor at this point in his recovery? I doubt there would be a medical reason for him to be on the gmed floor.

I don't know. Most hospitals don't have room for well patients to stick around and take up a bed, regardless of who pays.

I notice it's Brad Conway that gave the paper the info, and he seems to have used the words that George is choosing to stay there, not the Drs, but George himself. And if he's not in the psych ward, this is weird???

For all we know, he may be somewhere else, not in the hospital at all. When is the last time the hospital spokesperson gave an update?

Since George is not being held prisoner, I'm assuming that he was given a choice of remaining until a place can be found for him in another facility or of going home. If the docs felt he was emotionally ready to go home I don't think he'd have been given the option of staying. But really, I have no idea.

I'm not a nurse, but I did stay in a holiday inn express...

Even if he still had medical issues, he would have had to eventually transfer out to a different facility. Hospitals don't do long term "rehab" type care. If they have psyc there, it's most likely the same. Good for the short term, but need to go else where after stabilized. Some patients can go home and have someone visit them for rehab or visit elsewhere for rehab. It all depends on the patents needs, what their options are, their condition, etc.. A whole host of things.

So Yes, he can 'chose' to stay in the hospital. Not using it as a hotel of sorts. But because it's one of the options set forth for him to choose, based upon his needs.

I'm not a nurse either but i have been held in many a psych ward both against my will and voluntary.. Many "regular" hospitals have psych wards that are indeed long term, up to 30 days and in some cases even longer. I do not know about this specific hospital that George is at but...

Contined prayers today for GA and the healing of his mind and spirit.

Too many of these posts have gone way off the topic of this thread which is George's Condition or New Developments, not about CA or other.

Get back on track please!

any messages that have been deleted from this thread were deleted for one reason only. they were off topic. None of them were about any new developments regarding George's condition.
if anyone thinks they were deleted for any other reason you are 100% wrong.

Hi all,
Just wanted to give a little insight into how psyche units operate (at least the ones I have worked in as a nurse): generally there is a meeting with all professionals on a patients case to deem if that patient has met all their goals/if desired outcomes have been met. If they have not, then discharge is not recommended. Of course, after the Baker act expired GA could sign out AMA but it would not be in his best interest (of course).

Transfer between medical facilities is possible and is usually worked out by a case manager. He also may opt to stay in the same place and with his same treatment team if it is working for him.

My other thought (personal opinion only) on why he may continue in that same facility is because it is far away from the circus... If he chose to move closer to home it could also be detrimental to his mental state in terms of any triggers that led to his suicide attempt.

imhoo :-)
