George was Baker acted, mandatory 7 days stay for observation.
The Baker Act holds for 72 hours (initially), not a mandatory 7 days.
Edit: Sorry, I see someone already supplied the info!
George was Baker acted, mandatory 7 days stay for observation.
Nope 7 days for involentary, 24 hours for volentary I believe. LONGER if the court remands a longer period. 7 Days is just the minimum period if no period is specified by the court.

Pulled from the above link:
2) INVOLUNTARY EXAMINATION.
An involuntary examination may be initiated by any one of the following means:
A court may enter an ex parte order stating that a person appears to meet the criteria for involuntary examination, giving the findings on which that conclusion is based. The ex parte order for involuntary examination must be based on sworn testimony, written or oral. If other less restrictive means are not available, such as voluntary appearance for outpatient evaluation, a law enforcement officer, or other designated agent of the court, shall take the person into custody and deliver him or her to the nearest receiving facility for involuntary examination. The order of the court shall be made a part of the patient’s clinical record. No fee shall be charged for the filing of an order under this subsection. Any receiving facility accepting the patient based on this order must send a copy of the order to the Agency for Health Care Administration on the next working day. The order shall be valid only until executed or, if not executed, for the period specified in the order itself. If no time limit is specified in the order, the order shall be valid for 7 days after the date that the order was signed.
I wonder when George does go home how he is going
to handle things there is so much more to come
with this case plus the trail just wonder if he will be
able to handle it are try and do something again.
I hope not and I pray he want maybe Cindy will help
him but then you all know Cindy.
I'm sure George doesn't want to go back home. For some reason he can't handle it there anymore. Too many memories...
At least now George Anthony is free from the press, news media, and ALL else. I pray for peace of mind for the guy. The family has been through so much. God be with them.
I pray for Cindy as well, however, I get the impression that she can be like a "loose cannon".
For clarity, the Florida Baker Act does not include a mandatory 7 day observation period.
There is a mandatory 72 hour examination period, after which there are multiple possible outcomes, including options of petitioning for either further involuntary inpatient or out-patient treatment.
Here is an FAQ on the Florida Baker Act if you would like to learn more.
GA has only been in-patient for 2 wks. I feel he may just be starting to deal with the immediate reasons he was placed in involuntary admission. This is a critical time for a nnew pt. He may have been put on new meds that would be just now adapting to his body with some side affects. His therapy can't be rushed so soon after admission. Regardless what happens in the civillian world surrounding GA & the case he will have a long and winding road when it comes to therapy. His admission is alittle more than, "Lets get pt. meds regulated in 2 wk. and then out the door."
I'm hoping GA will not go back to the Hopespring house. Possibly a stay with his parents, would be better. I can't imagine living in that house with Caylee's remains being found just at the end of the street.
Personally I'm glad he is staying where he is for awhile, he probably needs to adjust to any medications/dosages which could take weeks/months. He is safe there and plus I hope he is plain just getting some rest.
It's also possible he had a nervous breakdown or now has PTSD, which is very difficult to recover from. He and the whole family have a very long road ahead of them.
I'm relieved he hasn't been released as of yet. He's probably just now beginning to feel a tad better as the medications are now starting to take effect. Initial effects take approximately two weeks to surface.
The other thing I want to mention is his feeling safe where he is. When I suffered from severe postpartum mood disorder after the birth of my second child I will never forget the feeling of safety I had. Not only that my children were safe from me (I don't want to get into all the sordid details but feel free to PM me if you have any questions) but I was safe from myself. There is a comfort that comes with that that I'm not sure I can fully explain.
Eventually GA will have to return home. Part of healing is being able to deal with your current situation. He will not get better with just meds and running away. This is where his therapy will be most beneficial. He will learn coping and life skills that can help him deal with what is going on now and what he might have to endure in the future.
