GUILTY (PLED) CT - Jeffrey, 56, & Jeanette Navin, 55, Easton, 4 Aug 2015

The Post said police did a check on the couple’s cell phones. The last call Jeanette Navin had made was at 8:45 a.m. on Aug. 4. Her husband’s last call was at 1:23 p.m. that day. Both phones had subsequently been turned off.

A vehicle belonging to the Navins was located by the State Police on Aug. 9 in the commuter lot in Westport, off Exit 42 of the Merritt Parkway. The Post identified the vehicle as a Dodge pickup truck which had been vandalized. The passenger-side window was broken and shards of glass were found on the ground.*

Westport Police Lt. Jillian Cabana*went over to the commuter lot the next day to look around, according to the Post.

A short distance from the lot was a house in foreclosure that had been vacant since the beginning of the year. As Cabana looked around the house, she noticed a door had been forced open. Inside the house she made an interesting discovery.*There were numerous cards for the J&J Refuse Company. The house is owned by the missing couple, according to the Post.

The smartest investment is the 135k home the wife bought in 1996 that just recently sold for 900k.

Everything that was in the husband's name has collected tremendous debt and foreclosed. I think hubby was doing and borrowing too much and the wife's account was the only one with substantial funds that could only be touched by her.

This is just crazy. So many assets but so much debt. And JN was doing his own routes? Seems odd that a partner/ head honcho of a company would be running refuse routes.

Also- if the son is disabled due to back pain issues, not working, needs money...

Agree. The motive may be life insurance related if they truly are dead. But an insurance company can't pay out without a body or the people being declared dead by the state. Which will take years of no body and no financial movement.

So lets just hope the couple simply decided to take that 900k and bought a mansion in Belize or somewhere.

These two points stick out to me, as well.
The owner doing his own routes? Unheard of. Seriously.
The son having a back injury opens up a can of worms, IMO. Not working, no income, painkillers....I just hope I'm wrong.
The fact that he's been named a POI speaks volumes, IMO.

Map showing the foreclosed property (7 Hart Landing), the current address, the lot where I think their car was found, and Weston, the town where they moved to the current address.

Nothing much that jumps out as unusual, except that's the park and ride where you might leave your vehicle if you were catching a shuttle or limo to the NYC airports.

I read in some article that Mrs. Navins home sold for $900 thousand in June and that she paid off $780 thousand of mortgages leaving her $120 thousand profit.

Update Navins son Kyle has been staying with a friend in Westport. Perhaps he knows too much and is afraid for his life. He mentioned to police J&J Refuse was planning on selling business. One interested party was Vento Refuse.

Navins brother and sister in law runs that company as well if I'm not mistaken. So was his bad credit dragging down the business and family members as well.

Did him and his wife just flee so no one else suffers financially. Or were they killed by people they knew.

They were definitely over their heads in mortgages for homes while getting mortgages for other homes.

This case is just mind boggling.

Hiding out in Westport...not too shabby.

Which house is this? The million dollar one?

No, it's just some abandoned house near the park'n'ride, apparently.

  • #53
No the millions dollar home is 7 Hart Rd Guilford. The home in article where police found the J&J business cards is very near exit 42 Merritt Parkway commuter lot in Westport where their truck was found parked. Seems like Mr. Navin bought a lot of homes that went into forclosurer. Was he hoping to fix and flip or is it a way to laundry money?

Snipped

Law enforcement sources said Monday that Kyle Navin, the son of the missing Easton couple, declined to take a lie detector test when questioned by state police detectives about his parents' disappearance. State police have not said he is a suspect.

State police sources familiar with the investigation said the focus changed after police searched Kyle Navin's vehicle. It is unclear what was discovered, but sources said the evidence has been sent to the state police forensic laboratory.

so, what is the motive then... No life insurance pay out without a body. Were his parents looking to liquidate their portion of the refuse business and he didn't want them to because it wouldn't be left to him and whomever else in the family? OR conversely, if they are gone, does their portion of the business become his?

Can't recall - is he their only child?

http://www.ctpost.com/news/article/Source-Bullet-hole-blood-found-in-missing-6462950.php

BRIDGEPORT - The disappearance of Easton couple Jeffrey and Jeanette Navin had been a missing person case — until police found a bullet hole and some blood in one of their vehicles, a law enforcement source close to investigation said Monday.

At that point, on Aug. 10, Easton Police requested that the State Police Western District Major Crime Squad take over the investigation...

The couple’s blue 2003 Dodge Ram pickup truck was discovered Aug. 9 parked in a commuter lot next to the Exit 42 off ramp to the Merritt Parkway in Westport. The passenger side window had been busted out and there were shards of glass on the ground, police said.

“Things really began to heat up once they found that bullet hole and blood,” the source said.

So.... I can see the owner/manager of a refuse company being a licensed handgun/pistol owner. However, CT (unlike many other states) does not make firearm permits public.

Bullet hole and blood is not good. To say the least.

The son refusing a poly. Even worse.

All moo.

Since you can't drive 2 cars at the same time, tells me that there may be an accomplice as well as a murderer running loose.

I just hate when 2nd hand accomplices wait until they are caught before telling on suspect.

LE should give a presser and let the accomplice know that they will not get heavy jail time if they come forward today.
