Snipped

First time I have read this exact statement:

Jeffrey, 56, and Jeanette Navin, 55, of Easton, Connecticut, have been missing for more than a month. Investigators believe Jeanette disappeared around 8:45 a.m. Aug. 4, while Jeffrey vanished several hours later.

How awful!! The father, IMO, died knowing what had transpired. So tragic.

The texts seem staged. Why would dad ask son if he is framing him for murder. Why didn't dad send the cops to the house if he thought the wife was killed by son.

Btw. Wtf.

Good morning son. Did you kill mom and are you going to frame me. No dad. Why would you think that.

Wtf type of conversation and relationship did they have on a regular basis.

I think we're just missing the precursor of what they released - Kyle must have been claiming that this Dave's phone isn't working as an excuse for something.

To me it sounds like Jeffrey was alarmed because he was unable to get Jeanette on the phone. Kyle was telling his father that it was just something wrong with her phone. His father had been able to get through to someone named Dave, and was saying that he should therefore also be able to get through to Jeanette.

To me it is extremely odd that: 1. Jeffrey jumps to the conclusion that his son has hurt/murdered his mother 2. Jeffrey concludes that his son is trying to frame him for the murder 3. It doesn't seem to have occurred to Jeffrey that his son might be intending or at least capable of murdering him.

This must have been an incredibly messed up relationship with their son.

ITA with your sequence of events and things that are peculiar. The dad probably went to the son's house to confront him about his mother's whereabouts and ended up getting murdered too. Would like to know more about the relationship to figure out why he immediately thought his wife was dead at the hands of his son when he couldn't get ahold of her.

I got the vibe that Jeff was setting up his son.

Except that Kyle's stories/movements are highly suspicious.

The association comes to mind of disappeared bodies and garbage trucks. It seems to me there was only one garbage truck. First thing in the morning it was driven by Kyle, who says he met his mother and she came along the route. Then in both versions of his story he met up with his father, who took over driving the truck with Jeanette.

Perhaps Jeffrey was suspicious because Kyle had called him to drive the truck, but Jeanette, who was supposed to be with him, had disappeared. Perhaps Jeffrey was suspicious that she was in the back of the truck.

Video/Kyle's girlfriend shows Kyle driving the garbage truck back to leave it at his parents house about 3 pm, which he had never mentioned to police. He had said he went to their house at 12:30 pm to pick up a cheque.

When I first heard this story on the news, I was sure it was open and shut that J and J had skipped town with the money. Everything after that skewed me to thinking it was open and shut that they were murdered. But now I'm starting to wonder whether it's all an elaborate scam after all.

With LE revealing KN's addiction and lies...it all fits. Unfortunately.

What a totally messed up situation! What was going on in that family?

The texts clearly state that dad knew the son was dangerous for a while. Maybe the son felt that his share was getting eaten up by pending creditors.

Hopefully they check the garbage truck and landfills for more evidence.

I believe that's where they went as soon as they figured out something was off with the son. They didn't turn anything up, at least anything they've reported.
Would love to know Kyle's siblings thoughts...

Drugs.
An addict in any family turns everyone's world upside down.
I suspect that is exactly what was going on. It's very sad.

Search warrants are scheduled to be unsealed tomorrow.

Early on they said they hadn't found anything, but that they were going back. I don't think they've said anything since, though, which makes me wonder what they found.

I hadn't even considered that but the text messages are so bizarre I don't know what to think! I keep trying to imagine my hubby and son having that type of exchange. It's just so weird.

If the son did kill the parents, lord only knows where they might be, considering the family business.
