A spokeswoman for the behavior health facility where the suspect in the shooting of an elderly Cleveland man worked says the man underwent an extensive FBI background check before being hired in 2008.

Long before becoming a murderer in a Facebook video, Steve Stephens kept track of his life on YouTube and showed no signs of trouble.
The YouTube account for Stephens, who remains on the run after publicly shooting a stranger, displayed the innocuous side of the man who would become the subject of an interstate manhunt.
His account, under the name Triple Jointed TV, showed him fishing, bowling and bonding with a little boy.
Stephens had uploaded 19 videos since September 2015, all of them simple snippets from his life in Cleveland.

I am a veteran critical care nurse with 35 years in trauma ICU's and ER. I watched this mans video after he shot the man. There are some things I noticed about his behavior. Let me preface this by saying I have had to deescalate many people in crisis. Nurses deal with families in crisis everyday.
This man keeps saying 'I just lost it." Most people who "lose it" have an altered reality. They don't even know they have "lost it" The problem is you and not them. He is driving. That tells me he is oriented.
He says something about "being hopeful" I don't remember the exact quote. People who commit these heinous acts aren't hopeful. In fact, just the opposite.
He is just too rational.
I doubt if he will kill himself. His behavior is a cowards move. I believe he will be taken into custody without too much of a struggle.
This is just my opinion.
This is a very good point! Unfortunately very real. And it's just heartbreaking that someone else was killed anyway. But I think if you are not a minority, you can't truly understand how scary it could be to report something like this to authorities. You just never know. What an awful position to be in.A thought I had is that for a mother to notify authorities about her black son could be a death sentence for him. She may have been too scared about what might happen to him to contact anyone.

JMO, this seems to be triggered in part by his gambling addiction, on top of his somewhat histrionic personality.
Sounds like he's been gambling for a while. Went through bankruptcy already. Has probably spent many years hitting up his family, girlfriend and friends for money when he gambled his own earnings away.
His mom has probably had him come begging for money many times and has probably heard all the threats about "I'm depressed! I've (lost home, lost car, etc.) because of gambling and if you don't give me money I will kill myself." I've never personally experienced it, but have heard its terrible living with a gambling addict, at least as bad as living with a junkie. They steal, lie, beg for loans and never pay them back, etc.
Sounds like family and girlfriend finally gave him some tough love after he failed to deal with his gambling problems. His response was to behave like a spoiled child - go on a rant, talk trash on facebook, pretend everyone treats him badly, then kill an innocent old man just to get everyone's attention. He's an incredibly selfish, self-absorbed person who wants to take the lives of innocent people in order to "punish" those who stopped allowing him to use and abuse them.
I also seriously doubt he told his mother he was going to kill someone. He made that statement as a way of blaming her for his own problems, as punishment for not giving him money.
He's also unlikely to commit suicide, seems to narcissistic for that. Maybe suicide by cops or turning himself in. JMO

Do license plate readers register paper license plates the same way they do regular plates?
He will eventually get hungry and will run out of $.

He will eventually get hungry and will run out of $.
I think the fact that LE spoke to him on the phone also suggests a good chance that he may not be ready to let go of his phone and the pings will do him in. However, I said that yesterday too.
I'd also suppose that if this guy has a dime to his name...casinos would be a great place to look for him.
I didn't watch the video...but did he take RG's wallet?
I've been saying casinos since minute one, and he's in the right area. Erie PA, Salamanca casino, Niagara Falls, etc. We have tons here! but the heat is on and with the amount of cameras in casinos? The thought w local LE in PA is that he bought a new track phone-- not using his. Fishing seems like valid way to sustain when he runs out of $. I'm also 99% sure temp tag won't hit on the plate readers. I'm sure he's stolen new plates by now tho or is tucked back in the woods layin low. Too many cameras in the Falls, casinos, NY STATE THRUWAY (90) etc.
