The only person(s) who would know exactly where would be someone with inside knowledge. Soooo they've done this before and this time they just got caught??

Maybe looking for a weapon? Doesn't ground penetratin radar only detect solid items? Jmo

Look at those photos, how do they know they are not destroying evidence? They look to have taken the first few layers off the soil/grass.

GPR will detect any anomoly. A difference in make-up of the soil, a cavity, a solid object...you name it. If you know how to read the display, you can learn a great deal about what is below. It's essentially a smaller version of the tech used in oil and gas exploration.

I'm pretty confident that they know what they're doing. It is their job, after all.

That is a good point, because, even if they are looking at the worse case scenario (remains), there could be evidence dropped by the suspect while burying the remains, which could now be in that dirt pile. But, we do have to have faith in LE.

I wonder if the tip received was from MS or suspect #3. Any word from DM's lawyer? Is his client talking yet?

If GPR indicates an object underground, the primary objective is to obtain the buried object, which requires removing the dirt. The soil can be sifted later.
