This is my fourth Pope and I don't remember the band.

What a very, very important, historic time for The Church.

Hate to sound sappy, but I feel kind of renewed.

Wouldn't that be something to be in that pulse? We do have a good view though.

The Pope is coming out at night. When did that happen last?

I don't remember the band either or all these other people.

It's the Italians' show, it's gonna go long, we're gonna be waiting a while .

Latin must burn into the brain because even when my mother was in the end stage of Alzheimer's, every once in a while a Latin word would come out of her. She wasn't saying ANYTHING else.

LOL my father was born there so I'm gonna say it---we're on Italian time!

What are they singing?

Why did I just have to go get my mother a white hankie?

Why did I not pay attention in school?

Awwwww, Bless your mom. She must be watching from a much better place than us.

Indeed my mom still sings in Latin and swears she could say the Mass in Latin.

Ohhhhhh and here comes our neighbor lady. She is Italian. The last time this happened there was a small tussle as we are German and my mom did a dance while Miss G was none too pleased. "I just don't care for him" she said for years.

Excedrin please.

She would say Dominus Vobiscum - I think that's "The Lord be with you".

The night before she died she was unconscious but her lips were moving like she was having a very intense conversation or prayer (no sound).

Right before my father went into the hospital for the last time, he spent weeks downloading music from the Latin mass (he had been an altar boy as a child), and I remember him singing the Stabat Mater (from stations of the cross), and knew all the verses and words.

I remember reading that the new pope, after being vested in the hall of tears, will stop in the chapel to pray before being announced on the balcony. That's probably what is going on now.

Look---even Flavio the Italian guy on CNN doesn't want an Italian pope!

Coming out now!

If that was me, I'd need a couple of hours in the hall of tears!
