What is this world coming to!!?? Even keeping kids at home under a parent's watchful eye can be compromised by the sickos out there!!

Greensboro, NC -- A gaming system a mom bought for family entertainment and to use as a means to keep in contact with other family members across the country, became an avenue for predators to send pornographic images to her children.

She says she won't ever be able to undo what her children were exposed to, but she wants other parents to be aware of what could happen.

Ummm no one forced her to sign up for X-Box Live ! X-Box Live is a special service that you pay for monthly and is rated "M"for MATURE (i.e 17+ year olds).We have an X-Box but do NOT have X-Box Live.I know its really "anything goes" in terms of chat etc
She apparently allowed a VERY young child to sign into X Box Live & allowed him unsupervised access to it. I also notice her child is upset & she sent another of her children(albeit a 20 year old)to see what was wrong instead of going herself.
No sympathy for her-sorry-she shouldve researched what she was paying for every month !!
WTH! She acts like the pornography jumped out from under the bed !!
This is no different than a buying a computer,allowing your kids to run rampant on it & then after they find pornography(or it finds them)trying to sue your ISP and whoever made your computer!

I'm thankful for the "heads up". One of our kids wants X-Box Live if he gets a 360 for Christmas. I've said "no" over and over again, but this is proof as to why I'm saying no. (Did that make any sense at all? :crazy His argument is "So and so have that!"... and of course I say, "Well So and so are lucky I'm not their mom!"... Not being familiar at all with the "live" feature, it's helpful to know what can happen. JMO.

I'm a gamer and have been since I was five. The X-Box actually has very good parental controls. You can set a timer as well as rules including whether to receive messages from anyone or just from people on your friends list. As with all internet connected devices, you should always monitor your child's use.

Regardless of whether this woman was using good parenting skills, the fact that child porn is being sent through the XBox is very disturbing. Child porn being sent any way is very disturbing. I hope that the child gets counseling and can get over what he saw.

I agree with ya there. I hope they reported the message to Microsoft. The message would include the screen name of the person that sent it and MS can and will ban people from the service, and I am sure report it to authorities

It wasn't child porn that was being sent. Nude photos of an adult man were sent to this child.
