Perhaps these two violent knife attacks are linked.
Short summary:

March 2019 an 18 year old woman (Eleanor Gage) was attacked with a knife around 11:30 pm walking home, neighborhood sidewalk close to her residence. She is very brave, survived her attack.

June 2019 a woman waiting for the bus around 11:30 pm was attacked while at a bus stop. This incident occurred within a mile of the March 2019 stabbing, victim again survived. After approx a month of media coverage Police release a video of suspected attacker following a woman near local mass transit train station. (About a quarter mile from the bus stop stabbing occurred at.)

Suspect in NE Portland stabbing seen on video

I've had a suspicion that maybe the two attacks were linked. Both victims were unaccompanied, late at night and within a mile distance. First attack did reveal very low quality video footage, second attack possibly very clear video of a suspect. Peripheral info, the first victim was a student, attacker approached her from behind. The second victim (bus stop at midnight) was potentially homeless, and her small dog ran off during the attack. Unclear if it was ever tracked down.

Any thoughts? If the first victim was in a same sex relationship, perhaps bigotry played a role in her attack. Was she leaving her partners home that night, arriving home to a shared residence?

If the second victim was experiencing homelessness, perhaps she's living a riskier lifestyle. Maybe circumstances, mental issues are clouding details about the attack, identity of the attacker. Portland is a hotbed for political/ethnic/gender disputes lately, trying to tread lightly but not ignoring maybe the violence is related.
