JELANI DAY
- 25 year-old graduate student at Illinois State University studying speech-language pathology

- Last seen August 24, 2021
- Car found abandoned two days later in a wooded area about an hour north of Bloomington
- The clothes Jelani had been last seen wearing were found inside the vehicle
- The license plate had been removed
- Nine days after his car had been found, Jelani's body was recovered from the Illinois River
- Police say that Jelani went missing "in unexplained suspicious circumstances"
- Police were able to track Jelani to a dispensary in Bloomington at 9:12 AM on August 24, but then lose the trail of electronic data
- Jelani's license plate and cell phone are still missing
- Coroner has reported drowning as Jelani's cause of death because of no evidence of injury to his body
- Jelani's family had hired a third-party to perform a second autopsy, but have not publicly revealed the outcome
- Jelani's mom is adamant that there has been foul play and that Jelani is a victim of homicide. She notes that Jelani had no known connections in the city of Peru (where his car was discovered) and that Jelani knew how to swim.
