Post Verdict -Working Out The Unresolved Questions

We have enough dough left over for an absolutely killer tart. Let's fill this with what Herself, not a selfie, will bring to the August 26 party. I will venture that she comes as the decorous & courtly but long suffering martyr. Like Mary Queen of Scots going to the block.

Our Lady of Arias still believes she will prevail in the end, the chopping block may be in the courtroom but she sees others' heads upon it. With no mitigation to speak of, and a wide latitude in guilt-phase replays, I think she is spending time shopping for tried and true ingredients to fry a new hash.

I wonder what would happen if a previous juror, after 'time, thought, prayer and consideration' would happen to repent to the court their vote for conviction, would madame be given a whole new trial?

I don't know if you already found the answer, but to obtain copies of court documents, one would have to go to the Clerk of Superior Court and request and pay for the documents.

Here's a link to the webpage which describes the process: http://www.clerkofcourt.maricopa.gov/copies.asp

When the trial was very active, a Twitter user with the name zou2 was tweeting links to court documents. IIRC, zou2 is an attorney; it seemed that proximity to and familiarity with the courthouse made this relatively easy for the person to help the public out with this info.

There was also someone on WS who was checking on court documents for us back in the spring; I'm doing some searches to see if I can find her user name. IIRC, she gave us the gist of the documents, without providing access to the documents.

I google-searched J A (full name) minute entries wiki and found a wiki with links to all of the enteries, I don't think I can put the link up here but that's how I found them. No listing yet for the response to latest denial of motion but I'll keep an eye on it.

Geevee, the minutes are available online free of charge through the Maricopa County Superior Court website unless they have been sealed.

Arizona Sunshine Laws also allows the public to obtain certain documents. This would include motions and official transcripts, and I provided the link to the Clerk of Court for these documents. I'm not certain if copies of exhibits are available through the Clerk of Court.

I believe that documents relating to evidence are also available to the public through the Maricopa County Attorney's Office. This would be for a fee. I have not been able to find out how this is done, but keep in mind that ABC obtained copies of CMJA's diary and Juan Martinez also was discussing his office's release of information (specifically Flores's interviews with Bill and Sandy Arias) in response to Nurmi's motion for a mistrial.

In chambers.____Killer Tart may have discussed chains, shackles and stripes with Judge Stephens too. But if she failed in obtaining any adjustment there, she will wear them as a badge of her martyrdom.

If you're right, geevee and our C.M. does believe she will prevail in the end, lots of her buoyancy and optimism can be laid at the base of her pill bottles. With both anti-depressant and anti-anxiety racing through her system, what could go wrong? Aside from her edifying reading matter, her main route to Bliss would be daily drugging. I see that surety in her manner and attitude too, BTW. Also, we know she has stated to visitors & inmates that there would be a mistrial and then there is that video of her saying, "Mark my words, no jury will convict me." Don't worry about a juror recanting his or her verdict. That will not happen.

Last night I rewatched portions of day 25 hoping to get any clue at all about what time Mesquite or Winnemucca happened, but no luck. I did catch an entire shot of the ceiling pic (5:31:14), first time I've seen it top to bottom.

Had to grab the screenshot from the witness' monitor and although it's not a great pic, there are a couple details not seen in other ss's of it, like what appears to be the tile where the door meets the shower enclosure (see the light area?), another is the impossibility of reading the time/date stamp, I thought it was illegible in others simply because the pic was so dark, but it's extremely hard to make out here.

Also, it may be an artifact but something is showing on the far right a little bit down from the top, can't make it out and it may be nothing, just a monitor reflection or other inclusion, I'll swap the colors around and see if anything else pops up.

I can easily believe she's on the meds, maybe a nice bonus from having been on the suicide watch, the pills keep her spirits high so she can serenely go about the task of assuring her some-day freedom.

One thing about the records - I am keenly interested in the 20 pictures that were found illegally in her cell, do you happen to know the date that happened (before or after her stint as her own attorney)? 20 is the same number of pics Melendez retrieved from the camera (shower and inadvertent ones), could those have been the ones she had? Knowing that wouldn't solve anything, but I'm really curious about that.

Geevee: It looks like the shower head on the right of the picture.

Interesting picture. Was the camera falling to the floor at that point. You can see the doorway to the closet on the left.

The unauthorized pictures were discovered in January of 2010 and she was written up for them.

Unless she had it around her neck, it seems like it must have been falling.

Could be the shower head, I'll look closely at it later when I play with the colors and such.

Det. Melendez testified in a case management conference on Jan. 12, 2010, maybe the first appearance of the camera photos?

All the stuff about the forged letters doesn't begin until 6/10, right after the motions to disqualify the Maricopa Co. DA office from prosecuting the case and not being able to get the death penalty removed (or exclude fingerprint evidence lol). The motion to represent herself doesn't happen until 8/08/11.

It was the week of August 8, 2011 going forward that she sought to represent herself. After inquiry, that was granted her. Is that close enough?

Based on the location this photo was taken? Is JA in the process of attacking TA? If he's still in the shower sitting and she's attacking with the knife, how is she able to reach him? If she attacked him already and is backing away, how is this picture taken?

It is theorized that this picture was accidentally taken as the camera fell while CMJA was attacking Travis in the shower. IIRC, the camera was upside down when the shutter release button was hit. The forensic people had a lot of work to do to develop this and the final two shots on the camera and at first, they did not know what they were looking at in the pictures.

Juan Martinez used the time stamp from this picture (not shown) to show that events could not have gone down the way that CMJA testified. There was one minute and 4 seconds between this frame and the next one of him badly injured and prone and possibly dead in the hallway.

This new trial, since sentence was left hanging, is set to go forward based on decisions & scheduling, August 26. Meanwhile, the two sides are shoving offers to resolve back and forth.

Tuba. You are the best! Just wanted to tell you that!

I think this is about where they both are when the pic is snapped, while she is attacking him.

She says he's still in the shower (as he hasn't called her a 5 year old yet, I suppose), I'm not quite sure how her story makes sense of this pic.

Woohoo, we're back!

I swapped colors and labeled areas of the better pic for orientation but nothing really new here.

The only questions I think I have are - why no flash in this one but apparently flash in the next accidental pic (you can make out the tile floor pattern well)? Seems to me this pic had the best lighting of them all, the shower overhead was on and the hallway or bathroom light was (reflections in earlier pics) so even without flash, why is this one so darned dark if the camera was pointing upward where all the light is?

I have questions about another pic, I have to put two together for comparison and upload so I'll be back with that a bit later.

I can't tell you how much easier it is to "read" this photo due to the work you put into bringing it into clarity. Thank you! As a mole, I have trouble when all is dark.

Spending a lot of time trying to guess or figure the route C.M. took, once in Utah. I do think it's key to the missing accessories to her crime. (Not sure about the .25 auto though. I think she was VERY reluctant to part with it. She was too quick to buy another gun.)

Any clue what the arrow points to in this pic (something lying on the corner shelf)?

Can't see that shelf well in most other pics to try and see what it is or if it's a constant in all the shower pics.

This isn't the one I mentioned above about being confused about, I thought I had a good pic of the lower shower edge that I wanted to comapre with the sitting shower pic. I just can't figure out why the edge looks so different, there should be a metal strip running along the bottom but instead we see white fading into reddish orange. It just doesn't look right to my eye for some reason. I wouldn't expect metal to be so reflective that you couldn't see it, but I can't see it in the sitting shower pic.
