SUSAN owns the copyright to her journals. While she is alive, the contents can only be published with her permission.

Obviously, Susan has not given permission to publish.

Ergo, the Powells' blatant publishing of Susan's journals shows the Powells know Susan is dead.

Excellent point! But the sticky part is, who will sue? If she is alive, she must sue. If she is dead, wouldn't that right belong to Josh himself? That sicko can't be arrested soon enough for me.

I'm horrified that the Powell's are victimizing Susan again (Yes, I believe Josh killed her on that snowy night). The father is a real <unusual person>. Why on earth would he feel a need to translate her journals? If there is any evidence in them, they should be turned over to LE immediately.

This "experiment" by teenagers could find some evidence. I can only hope that some day - sooner rather than later - JUSTICE will be found for Susan. I know without a shadow of a doubt that these two will NEVER grow a conscience.

I do not doubt what you say, and I notice you are from Utah. Did you know Susan personally? Do you have any personal insight as to the relationship between Susan and her father in law? I would be very interested in anything you know about this case. Thanks.

Unfortunately, Washington state does not have a law to allow for visitation by grandparents. Custody would also be a problem because we don't know(although most of us have a good idea) what happened to Susan.

I do think a judge might look at the case differently however, since the boy's mother is gone. If she was here Josh would be sharing custody with her. They could argue that they can step in during her absence.

Right now they are living with their paternal grandparents and their father. They have not seen their maternal grandparents in months.

If Josh is arrested... who gets custody of the boys?

They will stay right where they are... because sending them to live with people they haven't seen in years will be disruptive.

Especially if those people haven't made any effort to fight legally to see them.

I am looking further ahead... and the thought of those boys staying with Josh's family is hard for me to accept. But that is exactly what will happen at this point... and it may very well be part of the reason Josh has kept them away from Susan's family... because he knows that will strengthen his parents argument later on.

I do think they should go to court to establish that they tried... I mean what is going to happen? The Powell's going to be mad at them, refuse to let them see the boys? I think that ship has sailed...

She is the one who claims SP has the journals, some personal undergarments belonging to Susan, and stashed in a locked cabinet in SP bedroom (sorry I could just hurl over this) and she claims that SP has personally talked with her (Julia) about his obsession with Susan. HTH

The bolded part strongly reminds me of an obsessive person's perceptions of the targets actions.

For an obsessed person, they read their targets reactions through their own obsessions. Thus a hesitant or embarrassed smile, is encouragement. An accidental touch or one contrived by the obsessed person, is a sexual comeone. A movement by their target that they admire, becomes a message sent directly to them by their target. A smile at someone else is a betrayal.

And yes the use of the word "target" is deliberate. They aren't people with their own thoughts, opinions, desires and rights. They are targets for the obsession. They are objects that can be manipulated. If they want something different, they will just have to be brought around to the obsessor's way.

I don't agree with them releasing information from her journals...nor anyone else just reading them, it's a violation; but if JP & SP think her journals are such a looksee into SP...why choose the ones when she was a teen? Didn't SP have current journals and wouldn't they give a truer picture of what was going on in her life.....maybe he doesn't for a very good reason? Her marriage and their relationship.

Court bans publication of Susan Powell's journal

The temporary restraining order, issued in Pierce County Superior Court, orders the husband, Josh Powell, and his father, Steven Powell, to "immediately cease" publication of entries from Susan's private journal.

They acquired Anne Bremner...a prominent attorney..who has run into problems with the law herself, iirc.

The temporary restraining order was requested by Susan's father and mother, Chuck and Judy Cox, through their attorney, Anne M. Bremner, and was granted Friday.
