Prayer Vigil Cancelled because A's fear for their safety?

  • #21
Last week everyone was saying the Anthonys should quit having the prayer vigils at their home. This week the Anthonys decided not to have the prayer vigil at their home. Yet people are still complaining.
How about a church?

PS- and since when have they listened to the voice of reason?

While I'm more sympathetic towards C&G than many, I can't buy that this was called off simply because they feared somebody might get hurt. Why is safety suddenly a concern -- nothing's really happened during vigils in the past, and AFAIK, there's been no specific threat. Also, aren't the Guardian Angels still patrolling in front of the home?

I imagine that the vast majority of those who attend the vigils are repeat visitors at this point. I can limiting participation to people that they know and holding it in a non-public space (backyard, in the garage with the door shut), but calling it off completely? Just seems weird.

How do we know that it's been called off completely? Maybe they are holding their own private vigil. Maybe they're not. Maybe they've decided to do their praying in church without all the fanfare. What's it to any of us?

Those of us who watched last week's vigil could see that it was a catastrophe in the making. One wrong move on anyone's part would have set off a war in front of that house. Why can't folks here just be happy that won't happen this week?

Wow, so anyone who is not against the Anthony's is not rational? That's not very nice.

I really don't know or care why they've decided to cancel the vigil. People here attacked them for holding the vigil, now they're attacking them for not holding the vigil. Some might say that's irrational.
But CW...that's what this thread is about...calling off the vigil.

Exactly! They can't win either way. If they had never spoken to reporters at all, if they had acted calm and 'rational' through this whole ordeal, then people would be complaining because they are 'hiding' from the public and not providing enough information... translate that to mean entertainment.
They were asked not to hold the vigil... they complied. So what's the problem?

They have asked everyone to light a candle instead.

At times like these it's important to remember Beth H. and Sharon R.

Is it? Or is it about people being upset that the Anthonys did the right thing - the very thing that many posters said they wouldn't do?

The A's are upset about not having the vigil for one reason and one reason ONLY $$$$
In their house or back yard, not as many people to pass the hat too!! That's all they care about.

You dont have a vigil almost 2 months after the death... Unless your looking for a paycheck.

::laughing:: The vigil was called off because of the request of the HOA lawyer -- but the family has to seek Big Drama and try to win sympathy points by framing their decision as though they were forced to act for the safety of others. Based on their actions to date, it's extremely difficult to believe the latter.

I think people are upset that they couldn't come up with an alternative to show their love for Caylee. Period. I also think things are slowly coming to a head and the As know it. IMO, it'll be more and more difficult for them to be out in public. But, again, what did they expect when Casey was let out and went home to live with them?

HUH? Not as many people to pass the hat to? If they were after money, they'd hold it in their backyard and pass the hat anyway. Some money is more than no money.

That's more along the line of my thoughts.

Again, I DID NOT KNOW they were asked NOT to have the vigil. BUT it seems that their 'excuse' is to blame the public and 'fear for their safety'. Give me a break, weilding hammers all day long, they sure don't look scared when they come charging down their driveway screaming at protesters.

(I do not agree with the protests) But the A's have this weird need for creating more drama when they could have turned things around to Caylee's benefit.

The A's want to perpetuate the draaaammmmmmaaaaaa!
They see themselves as victims in this aburd fiasco..Not Caylee...

Maybe they can hammer a cross in their yard and crawl onto it too.

Perhaps the complaints have to do with the decision not being the Anthonys in the first place.
So now they have to throw out the fear word for sympathy.

ITA- its a natural spin...blah blah blah, poor us, whah whah whah......the HOA requested them not to have it out in the open and now they use spin to gain sypathy. :woohoo: good! Personally I dont care what they do. they lost my empathy a long time ago.

I must admit, I have to respond again to this comment- Who in their right mind would be upset if the Anthonys did the right thing? ya kill me! really, you really do. The majority of posters on this board, WANT the Anthonys to do the right things. No one is upset about their choice, I see some are merely commenting on the reason behind what they do....whats wrong with questioning it? I see nothing wrong with questioning their motives- especially given their MO over the past few months.

CW-go to the donation thread. This has not been a good week for the As. The world is watching IMO.

I think little Caylee, wherever she is, alive or not....(hoping and praying for alive of course), needs prayers.

I think everyone should be praying for her, whole churches praying for her, wherever she is, it will never hurt to gather and pray for her. If anyone in that area feels a need to pray for her with a group of people they would be better off planning it every week at a church near the Anthony's home, or at a mutual location.

I think the residents in their neighborhood are fed up with all of it, and until something is figured out with the protestors, there is no sense in adding fuel to the fire. The Anthony's could also pray with their church congregation on Sunday's when they attend, and that might help as far as them not feeling like they have to stop the group prayers all together.

Also I see no reason they couldn't hold it in their back yard. Have their bodyguard people out there, and if anyone comes on the property then call the deputies. Also if they don't invite the media back their then, I seriously doubt the media is going to just go break down their door or gate to get back their.
