Prosecution of Casey Anthony movie discussion thread

I meant to say the opening statement by the prosecution kept asking "where is caylee"?,as if admitting they really have no clue what happened ,whereas the defense told the jury a story that could be believable if you don't know all the facts like we do here.....

Thanks for the explanation. I didn't know exactly what you meant. I fell asleep before the trial started. I may watch it again in it's entirety. I would like to get a better understanding of why the Jury didn't convict her. :seeya:

I only made it 1/2 way thru -- it was rather an embarassment to Linda (IMHO). I don't feel her charachter was brought to light at all. Rob Lowe wasn't so bad (probably the best charachter of the bunch). George was in insult (fat and schlepy as one said). Couldn't handle all the NG and JVM clips thrown in there - ughhhh! I had enough and turned it off.

Sorry - just my opinion.

OMG I totally agree, the movie was horrible ,but it did make me understand more why Casey was not convicted. If that is the impression the jurors got they're really not to blame IMO.The prosectution was asking "where is caylee?" set on Casey being guilty without ever letting anyone know why they were so sure and the defense was given the answers.I KNOW Casey was guilty because I'm a member here and saw all the evidence. If I watched this movie or if I was on the jury I would not have convicted her because I would have had reasonable doubt...
I feel kinda bad for George, lol,I bet he thinks he's a pretty smooth player type of guy and they portrayed him as a fat old mentally dense poppa...

Surprise-Surprise George. He isn't quite as smooth as he thinks he is.

:seeya:

BBM: I am curious : What is your reason for having "reasonable doubt" ?

It was an open and shut case for me on Day 31 : what "mother" -- or father -- does NOT report their child MISSING for 31 days ?

Only a GUILTY mother/father would NOT report their child missing for 31 days !

And add to that the millions of LIES told by CA ... etc ... Y'all know the rest !

JMO, and I know many of you may "disagree" ... BUT I do NOT feel sorry for George at all : he "made his bed and he has to lay in it" ! He had AMPLE opportunity to tell the TRUTH, but he "bypassed it" ...

George did NOT stand up for CAYLEE ... and it makes me furious that NOT ONE Anthony stood up for that baby ! And I sure wish the movie would have focused on this !

And JMO, I believe Mr. Ashton was "duped" by George, and he should NOT have "trusted" George as much as he did ... Mr. Ashton is a "gentleman" and did what he could ...

Rule #1 : NEVER trust an "Anthony" !

:moo:

BBM-I'm glad to hear from someone else with that opinion. I also believe Ashton was duped by George. I think George duped a lot of people. He played on their sympathy. From the start,he had one goal-getting his daughter off. IMO

Never-Never trust an Anthony !!!! All are very street smart folks.

....not necessarily IMO,I am sure Casey is guilty not because of her lies and not reporting her missing but because I know her phone pings,I know every minute of what was going on June 16th,Caylee simply could not have drowned during the time the defense claims but the prosecution did not give us any of that timeline so if I was on the jury I could have been sucked into believing it happened as they said.....btw even IF it would have happened as a drowning accident I'm sure Casey wouldn't have acted any different, she would not have called 911 and she would have done anything to hide what happened from Cindy IMO

BBM-I agree with you on that. Behavior would have been the same.

They just showed a snippet of her on the witness stand where she said that George told her it was "just an accident that snowballed outta control". I'll never understand why that was allowed.

JMHO

Wait a sec...:waitasec:
Didn't Det Allen or Melich say that or something along the same line during the Universal interview?

Not exactly the same words but along the same line

Q Or if you continue down this path and continue lying I can tell that when this snow ball gets to the bottom of the hill. The only person who’s gonna get hurt is you.

Thought the movie stunk...needed to be a 2-3 part mini series..Seemed to bemore about Ashton than the case....very disappointed

I was underwhelmed with the whole movie. They just sort of glossed over the most critical evidence. It seemed to me that Dr Spitz got more air time than
Dr G too! As for their characterization of LDB, she appeared to do not much more than parrot whatever Jeff was saying. Hardly showed CA's testimony, no mention of her perjury..
Very disappointing..

I caught the movie "Prosecuting Casey Anthony". Pretty good though superficial. It did hit the highlights pretty accurately, but left a whole lot out.

It did leave me with some questions. For instance the A's. It really highlighted the differences between C and G. G accused, and while he didn't speak out against his daughter, he at least seemed to be honest in his testimony. C saying she did the searches, and the discussion of whether or not to charge with perjury. Did the A's stay together or are they split now? Aren they working now?

And why didn't they charge C with the alleged perjury?

I missed the "Beyond the Headlines" one. Have the next showing scheduled.

Lee was left completely out of this movie. I wish he was in it just because KC told him she was a spiteful b####. and I would of like those who never heard those words, to know they came from her.

Disappointed in the movie, which was way too short and chopped up. I thought the casting was unrealistic. Couldn't they find actors who looked more like the originals. GA in particular must be furious that he was portrayed as overweight and shleppy. I stopped watching it in the middle to come on here, which in itself shows that it was not very good.

I totally agree!! The worst casting out of all (and I didn't see the whole movie either) was Dr G!! A woman with short blonde hair? WTFFFFFF.... I would have expected the movie to be better than that. Totally sloppily done IMO!

Your right about DR G and the movie was bland.
This is from Hals blog.

They go a low-key route, which is smart, because people feel so passionate about the case.

You may quibble with what was left out. I was surprised that Dr. Jan Garavaglia’s testimony isn’t depicted.

Hey everyone :-) I just finished watching the movie, well now I understand why it was 2 hours long, they needed an hour and a half for all the commercials. Since I watched the trial live and already knew the outcome I just focused on the actors. I thought the actress they got to play FCA was not ugly enough, the actor who played JP was underweight, the actor who played GA was overweight, the actress who played CA was not old enough, I thought the actress who played LDB did a good job, the actor who played JB was not sleazy enough, I thought the actor who played, I can’t think of his name right now, I won’t use my name for him, he was FCA’s old lawyer, looked just looked him. I was disappointed in the movie, not impressed with the acting, well except for Rob Lowe. Maybe “Beyond the Headlines” will better.

I guess the new evidence was more like JB's opening statement - a beginning talk with nothing to back it up.
LOL

Yeah and I have never figured out how he got by with that. He basically testified then didn't present any evidence to back it up.

Exactly, and it makes me crazy when people say "the defense doesn't have to prove anything". Well, if they say it in opening statements, they better prove it! During the trial, all the talking heads, defense attorney's included, were saying that jury's don't trust attorney's who say they are going to prove something and then don't, and any sensible jury will be very skeptical of everything that attorney says. Too bad the P12 either weren't paying attention enough to know they were being lied to, or they just didn't care because they didn't want to punish the defendant anyway. IMO, the only people this jury wanted to punish were the prosecutors.

Didn't watch but want to thank those who did for sharing
