Prosecutor Juan Martinez releases new book, February 2016 - #2

I think she said "I still won, brat." I also think she was referring to Travis. The way I see her thought process going is something like this: She has been arrested. She knows she's not going home or anywhere else of her own free will for quite some time. Flores is gradually presenting evidence to her that they know she did it. A trial at some point in the future looks likely, and there is substantial evidence (at this point she's still hoping she can blame the fake ninja's for the real evidence). Anyway, she's sitting there, assessing her situation, and compares it to Travis'. Travis is dead, she's still alive, though in a lot of trouble: "I still won, brat."

The audio is hard to hear. I should have looked it up but our memories aren't too far out. Not bad considering it was quite long ago.

"Haha. Still beat you... brat"

Around 32 minutes in.

I understand the psychology of that and it is what I fully believed for a very long time. I've gone back and forth and back again about the sex pics on June 4.

The only reason I care whether or not they had sex that day (there are many more things - almost anything , really, that I'd rather think about) is because I'm a pit bull about trying to piece things together .

The more I know about that day, the more nothing adds up. There is no reason I can think of why she couldn't answer a single question about that day's timeline without thinking it over ....when she did at all.

What is incriminating about going there, having sex, taking a shower, packing, etc.? Nothing. Not those parts of the day. So why wouldn't /couldn't she answer the simplest of questions about a timeline?

No. 1 reason, because that day was hers. She had never planned on getting caught, and her behavior that day was very revelatory about her character, she didn't want to answer questions because it was too personal to her, and if enough details came out, there would be a point at which her manipulation would become obvious, and that was a part of herself she depended on to never be revealed. Although the facts of the murder had come out, the timeline represented the methodology, and that, at least, was something she was determined to keep private, partly out of spite, and partly because she couldn't risk people seeing the real Jodi.

It is all that, and more.

For her it was a game, from the beginning. I agree with Steve that winning meant she was in trouble but he was dead.

But I also think she meant.....you thought you were going to destroy MY reputation? Haha. Now you can't and I get to destroy yours instead.

Sex tape, invented sex emails and sex chats, etc., all that manufacturing etc. going on in April through mid-May.......reactive or proactive, it was about reputation.

As Nurmi said, she cared more about elevating hers and destroying his than about saving her own life.

I did see that (thx), but I still don't get why her father would be facilitating a 7:30 am rental so she could visit old boyfriends? They are such "enablers"! I don't understand this at all.

Maybe her parents preferred her being out of town. Maybe they didn't care much where she went, as long as she went.

I agree, her insistence on the trial strategy was a retaliation for getting caught.

This. Brilliant.

I just can't see "when did you eat your banana?"as a personal question.

Her lizard lickings, hesitations, complete lack of cockiness, wariness, death stares at JM, and even, for a delightfully long few seconds, look of real panic and blessed silence when on one question about the shower pics he had her completely pinned down (she actually looked over to her DT to save her).....

nope, I didn't see that at all. I saw someone who had to explain a whole imaginary day to Juan Martinez and he wasn't having any of it, lol.

(Day 25. 1 of 3. The cross about all this lasts about 30-40 minutes. The video says it far better than I can.).

Hope4More:

"The mistake that is easy to make is to view what she intended AFTER the fact. Travis wasn't expecting her. There is zero evidence that he welcomed her or had sex with her or agreed to shower pics other than her word (no thanks) and pics of sex that she could have put there to threaten him with that day. Not for afterwards, unless to delete from his camera and try to put them on his computer to dirty him up post-murder, which, by the way is exactly what she did almost literally the day his body was found."

Just to be clear, your belief around the memory card is that she planted pics of them having sex from another time - to blackmail or scare Travis with on just that one day? Then delete them after she murdered him - as the planted pics were for his eyes only? Why? He knew that she had enough to prove a sexual relationship. The graphic tape was enough to convince bishops, friends, pretty much anyone that they were sexually inappropriate for Mormons. The tape alone would cause Travis massive embarrassment. If she wanted to plant pics on his computer that wouldn't require placing on his camera first.

Travis liked sex with Jodi. His own family have stated that there was a degree of sexual addiction there. Her dark hair alone is pretty good evidence that the pics were taken on the day of the murder. I see no merit or logic whatsoever in the 'sex pic planting' theory. The shower pics were real and the sex pics seem in keeping too. If a persuasive argument is put forward, I'm happy to reconsider my view.

Hell yes. Just go. They'd been doing fine for years without her and her drama

I have to agree with Nurmi on that. I believe Arias might not be happy to be in prison but she can handle it better than she could handle Travis still living but with someone else.

Wiped is not the best word, maybe, but I'm pretty sure Dworkin said there was nothing in the camera's internal memory, all pics were on the memory stick.

Dworkin examined only Travis Compaq computer, Arias damaged hard drive, Arias Canon camera and the Helio IIRC

But, she couldn't risk getting nailed down on any details, because that might conflict with a story she would need to tell later. She really couldn't anticipate where it would all go. There were key elements and details among the minutiae that day which would reveal she was nothing but a monster, victimizing a completely innocent man. She couldn't risk being backed into that corner, in whatever roundabout way.

Yes, but she was SO BAD at the whole game plan. Terrible actually. This is just my opinion, mind you.

1. Stole Grandfather's gun mere DAYS before the murder.

2. Logged into his accounts unaware they could tell by the IP.

3. Bought gas can and saved the receipt.

4. Bought gas for several gas can at the same station...with her credit card.

5. Put license plate back on UPSIDE DOWN.

6. Cell phone radio silent until Kingman.

7. Manufactured pedo letters.

8. Caught interfering with a witness through magazine codes.

9. Manufactured false events (pedo claim, abuse, abuse!) even though it contradicts her very own diary.

10. Slashes tires repeatedly, and everyone knows it's her.

11. Takes pictures of herself, committing a horrendous crime.

12. Leaves evidence, hair, blood, prints all over the crime scene.

13. Tells Daryll she's going to Mesa when she asks to borrow his gas cans.

14. Baiting the investigator for information right after Travis' body is found.

15. Is a full day late getting to her alibi's house, and doesn't call or update in any way.

Taken just these few, off of the top of my brain instances of the murderers boneheaded actions, I find it completely implausible that she planted those pictures with the appropriate file data. No. Way. No. How.

And this is just the stuff we know about, that wasn't deemed "too prejudicial". Sheesh!

True that. Einstein she ain't. She had enough on her plate. How to murder this man and get to Utah and her next marriage target.

She won because she had the last word. She always has to have the last word and regardless of the circumstances feels it is a victory. She may be going to jail but he's dead and because she made that happen, she wins.

She had no intention of actually giving that sex tape to anyone. It would have destroyed HER reputation as well. The "being afraid she couldn't find a kinky Mormon to marry " line alone would have done her in.

It was meant as a weapon to threaten him with if she thought he was going to act on his promise of April 7 to expose her as a psycho to "everyone who mattered" to her.

In mid-May he began to do just that- not yet to people who mattered to HER, but how far away could that be, especially since he was obsessed with coming clean with Lisa about her?

It would be too long a thing to type out right now, to say again all the things she did to gaslight him and to make him feel he could not prevent her from invading/infiltrating every corner of his privacy and life and things.

To show him those pics on his own camera would have scared the crap out of him, exposure not even being the threat.

I don't know if that's what happened. My point is that I don't think they were taken that day and she had a reason for putting them on his camera that had to do with that day.

As for computer at 1:44, same time as a sex pic....whatever she might have been doing on his computer, I'm wondering if the otherwise unreconcilable same- time thing can be explained by her trying to manipulate the photos on his computer at that time.

No, he definitely examined TA's camera as well. Stuck shutter button on through photo retrieval attempts.....

IIRC the 1:44 activity on computer was shown by JM to be some sort of automatic scan or housekeeping generated by the computer, not by a keystroke.
ETA It was Spybot reacting to virus/malware in fact

What day is that testimony? I reviewed his direct, cross and redirect on Day 12/13 and it's not in there...
He did testify later...rebuttal? But I thought it only dealt with "🤬🤬🤬🤬" on TA computer....

Yah, she sucked at many things, including being a person, and as Hatfield said recently, her arrogance blinded her.

Apples and oranges though, that and whether or not the devious 🤬🤬🤬 with nothing else to do for weeks but plan a murder could have figured out how to do one technical thing with a camera.

Heck, I have close to zero technical knowledge about any object with a plug, but after watching a few YouTube videos took apart a gaming console (XBox) down to the last screw, fixed a part on the motherboard , put it back together again, and that bad baby fired right up. :D
