Nemtsov, 55, one of Russia's most vocal critics of Putin's policies, was set to lead a rally in the Russian capital before he was gunned down on a bridge just hundreds of metres from the Kremlin yesterday.

Putin is crazy. Why do the people in Russia put up with him?

For same reason people put up with Stalin, Hitler other dictators.
Some are freaked out, afraid of repressions, others look up to 'great leader'
Many Russians believe he is a great Russian, he controls media, eventually what people talk and think.
Russia has never been really democratic.
Those opposing him, speaking against, him knocked out.
There is no accountability really, polls can be rigged.

Big protests planned for today in Moscow.
Hard to believe in any peaceful process towards democracy in Russia, any chaos hardly welcome since it's a nuclear state.

I very much agree with Garri Kasparov who says who pulled the trigger is not the most important question to ask in this case, but who pulled the strings.

But this case will go unsolved as long as Putin in power.
They have arrested bunch of Chechens, but Charlie Hebdo connection doesn't seem plausible.

One 'suspect' who confessed, was likely tortured.
