Queen Elizabeth II: her Diamond Jubilee weekend is upon us, 02 June - 05 June

Does anyone get the impression that Charles is frustrated that she's hanging on so long?
Edward VII had to wait 61 years before his mother, Queen Victoria, died; Prince Charles's wait currently stands at 60 years.

Frustrating, I'm sure.

I think England's a little "jubilee'd out" by now.

Congrats to her, and I hope many more years of good health to her, now that being said, I guess it is just my midwestern no nonsense roots coming out, but I don't get the big hoopla that people in my country are showing for this.

Well thankfully the diamond jubilee spectacle is almost over. As a Canadian I have no problem if England wants to put up with and pay for their Monarchy but I resent the fact that I have to. These foreign Royal welfare recipients cost us a fortune with their annual visits and galas, inane walkabouts and constant open palmed waving.
God save the Queen? Why the Queen? What has the Queen done to deserve Gods saving over the billions of starving children in her colonies? Nothing!
I really hope that if we're to follow some ancient irrelevant tradition into the next millennium , then Charles the divorcee will not be crowned. Members of the Canadian Government and a handful of anglican Britons are the only ones in my country who seem interested in having a foreign (inbred) head of state, the rest of us would rather elect our head of state.
Republic of Canada has a nice ring doesn't it? :)

It's royalty. Women, in particular, it would seem are attracted to the princess fantasy. Y'know, they bump into the prince somehow and he's immediately in love and they go to a castle and live happily ever after!!

In our country we love the super rich, so it's kinda the same thing. JMO

Got any to share?

I rather enjoyed all of the hooplah - or, at least, as much as I could watch. The fly-over yesterday was impressive, and I didn't think that I'd enjoy the concert on ABC last night, but it was awesome. Long live the Queen! :goldcrown:

Shame on the tabloids that criticized Kate's red outfit during the flotilla. I'm sure that everyone's duds were given the Queen's nod of approval. Kate is the new fashion trendsetter in the Royal Family, and she and William are the next generation of Royals. I think Queen Elizabeth knows that the couple will breathe new life into the monarchy by holding on to some of the traditions while adding some new touches with their youth, playfulness, sense of style, and effervescent, outgoing personalities. As Martha Stewart would say, "That's a good thing!" :moo:

What is this thing?

Is it a snake?

I can't help wondering if this fashion statement is a passive aggressive protest from an anti-Royalist designer because it resembles nothing more than a turd imo :=)
