Apologies if this isn't the correct place for this question.
I have come across examples in which there is a cold case that is solved many years down the road, but police here in Ontario say they cannot reveal the name of the suspect/perpetrator because the person is deceased.
On the other hand, I have seen instances of other cases here in Ontario where the perpetrator is named even though they have since died.
Anyone able to tell me, is this something that is up to police departments, or are there certain laws/policies/criteria for such things?
