well i'm glad they pulled them out of the lineup for the gwen stefani concert, i wanted to take my daughter to see her, and i decided not to after realizing he would be opening, this is after i heard about what happened. maybe she can still see gwen afterall.

(i like gwen because she has a child, she is married, and seems like a much better role model than some teeny bopping 🤬🤬🤬🤬 twit)

those 'lyrics' printed earlier... clearly the work of a walking brain stem. disgusting. there's nothing whatsoever redeeeming or artistic about that at all. just a huge waste of studio time, plastic, and oxygen. you would think he'd want to do SOMETHING to distinguish himself from an animal.

Odd, that this is just getting media attention now. I swear I read about this video a couple of weeks ago. From what I remember then, the girl's father is a minister and made a huge deal about this once the video was released. I know what I am going to say here is not very popular, but when I watched the video (not available anymore), I remember the girl laughing, grinning, etc. She did not look upset or offended in the slightest bit. While I found the entire thing distasteful, there was nothing that led me to believe the girl was not having fun. At the time, I remember thinking that a father had been shocked and horrified by the video and was placing the blame on Akon, and not really seeing his daughter's actions. Although I will say I don't remember seeing the girl's head hitting the floor.

Personally, I like maybe one or two of Akon's songs, but this song is not one of them. I like the beat, but that's about it. It is a highly sexual song and this act he does on stage, has become routine in all of his shows. For example, he did this once with Tara Reid on stage, and I am sure that video is still available online. I find the whole thing cringe worthy, but I also wouldn't jump on stage to dance to a song called Smack that, with lyrics such as the following:

"i see the one, because she be that lady! hey!
i feel you creeping, i can see it from my shadow
wanna jump up in my lamborghini gallardo
maybe go to my place and just kick it like taebo
and possibly bend you over look back and watch me

(chorus (2x):)
smack that all on the floor
smack that give me some more
smack that 'till you get sore
smack that oh-oooh!"

I don't know this artist and have never listened to his music (not into rap) but I do NOT care how much fun this girl was having or if she was smiling or what the words to the song was or whatever, what he did was wrong. To simulate a rape on a minor is wrong. Plain and simple. Period.

I agree with you but I also have issue with this "father" who is said to be a minister permitting his 15 yo to go to a concert with a "performer" (using that word loosly) such as this.
Ultimately IMO its the responsibility of the parents to protect our children from such things when at all possible.

Oh I completely agree (I have 2 daughters, ages 4 and 2). I would fight to my death for them. However, did the father of this teen have complete full knowledge of this rapper and his music (what his songs were about)? And while it is ultimately the parents to protect their children, we all know that it is not possible to do so 100% of the time, unfortunately. That does not excuse this 🤬🤬🤬 from doing what he did to this child. He is the adult who chose to do this. Why didn't he pick someone older to "rape"?

IMO it was dirty dancing to the extreme, however, when I saw it I did not think it was "simulated rape." Did I think it was a raunchy, inappropriate display? Absolutely.

I think that we should remember that this is all based on a father's reaction to seeing his daughter sexually objectified. How many people here saw the actual video?

I'll admit that I did not watch the video, can't while I'm at work. Just going by what I read.

Is the video online still? I'm going to look. I think I better take another look before I comment further.

As for her outfit, I had thought the same thing. I was shocked by both the outfit and her tatoo.

Okay, I just watched the video again. The angle makes it hard to see her face, but you can see her smiling in one part and you can also see her legs are wrapped around his body and her arms are wrapped around his neck.

I also found this article, which I found to be interesting:

http://www.trinidadandtobagonews.com/blog/?p=221

In one of the pictures you can clearly see the girl pulling on Akon's belt as he presses himself against her from behind.

Don't get me wrong - I found the whole thing to be absolutely disgusting. However, I still think this is a girl who was embarrassed after the fact and who got in trouble with her preacher father. Her outfit or lack thereof is appalling, especially in light of her age.

I don't agree with all of the points in the article, but nevertheless did find it interesting.

He probably had no idea how old or lack therof she was ...
She was not dressed like a 15 yo.

As a parent I would make damn sure I knew what music the singer sang about before I let her go.
Also after viewing those pictures it sure as hell was not a simulation of "rape".
And she was MORE then willing.
I agree it was some serious dirty dancing but calling it simulated Rape is BS.

In addition to all of that she somehow snuck in the club underage.
So there is absolutely NO way this singer would have thought she was so young.
I do think this father has some worries and "simulated sex" is IMO LOOOOW on the list.
I think his worries need to lay more within the real sex and pregnant teenager catogory.
I find it difficult to believe that any girl who is virginal would jump on stage and do that.

Points well taken. I was not aware of the whole situation. I'm sorry to have jumped to conclusions. And yes, when my kids are older I will definitely be all "into" their music. Heck, I am now, but thank goodness, it's just The Wiggles. :D

My parents had no clue I was going to the concert or how I was dressed. I told them I was going with my cousins for ice cream. When I left the house I had on a jacket

This is from the article with the pics that was linked earlier. I always know where my kids are and how they are dressed. Of course, I have boys, but if I had a daughter, I would make sure to find out what she had on and where she was going. I know that you can't "Micromanage" your children or be on top of everything, but wow. Where did she buy the clothes she was wearing? Did she borrow them? And to me, she looks like she is having fun. She's just turning this around, now that Dad has found out, imo.

I personally don't listen to rap, with the exception of Will Smith (who some say is not actually a Rapper (shame on them!!) and a few select ones so I don't know the song that is being discussed, but the lyrics that were posted are not ones that you would catch me singing.

It's easier than you think to get slutty clothes and your parents not find out. Have none of you (especially women) ever done something like that? I wasn't allowed to wear makeup in junior high, so I left my makeup at school and would wash it off before I went home. I would sometimes change clothes at school or at a friends house.
Clothes are not that expensive, there are plenty of trendy stores where you can get "clubbing" clothes for cheap.

Maybe it hasn't been that long since I was doing those things, so perhaps I can relate more. I think she was a girl out to have a fun time (and rebel against her minister father) and it went too far and she got caught.

OH GOD!!! The Wiggles you poor poor thing!!!!
I don't think you jumped to a conclusion! I think we all kind of grow and learn as our kids do... I certainly do not think the same things as I did when mine were toddlers.
My teens come to me when they hear the more obsene language they hear in music ... like.... "mom! did you hear what they said?"

I never had to but I had friends that did (actually came to my house to change)
In retrospect why the heck weren't their parents more aware of what was being permitted at my house??
I certainly make sure I know the parents of my childrens friends and what their rules and bounderies are.

When I was in the 8th grade the weather started turning cooler and my parents didn't want me wearing shorts anymore, but I absolutely HATED jeans at the time...so I go off to school wearing pants, change into shorts I had hidden in my backpack before my 1st class, change again before going home...I did this for about a week before one day my book bag was stolen from the school auditorium during drama class...needless to say it was an ugly day when I got home.

LOL! Busted... I did go out once and told my mom I was going to a friend's house to study (I was a freshman in college but was going to a community college at the time). We had a test the next day and my mom knew it. I didn't want to hear lip from her so I put on my club outfit (which was nothing like what is worn today) and threw on my "study" clothes over it. I still made an A on the test. :woohoo:

LOL!!! Yea, we made the mistake of taking the girls to see them live a couple of months ago and have paid for it ever since. ;)

Oh Amraann... I am so learning that I have MUCH to learn before these girls are teens (and I'm due in 10 days with a boy). :o
