I read somewhere recently that he said something rude to her at a screening or something...I'll look for the link. I remember thinking at the time that he was a schmuck. :slap:

I found it:

I found it interesting that he'd be saying that she embarrassed him. I kinda thought that he might have embarrassed her last year at the Golden Globes. Looked like he might have had a bit too much to drink. He was yelling out to Reese's costar (sorry forget his name) when he was giving his acceptance speech and then when Reese won he stood up and gave her a shove. The look on her face wasn't a happy one for a second there.

I'm not surprised at all. I am surprised that it lasted as long as it did though. I always figured with those two it was only a matter of time because this is Hollywood folks and face it their marriages don't last... Who is next? Courtney Cox and David??.. Jada and Will?? I think Reese is ok her chin just annoys me to the point that I can't hardly watch her movies but her hubby on the other hand is one hot boy.

not surprised by this at all--his career, such as it is,is nothing compared to Reese's--I say that because i've never heard of him,but I've been watching Reese's movies for ten years---just like Parker Stevenson-Kirstie Alley and Chad Lowe-Hillary Swank---woman is a star, the man is not--end of story

These two never seemed "happy" when I saw them together.
Ryan always seemed to be brooding and Reese somewhat guarded.

I have heard (from many sources) that Reese is a total Diva, so that
may have played a role, as well.

I am definitely not surprised by this....and they did get married very young.

I am a big fan of Reese Witherspoon but the name Ryan Phillipe means nothing to me. Neither does his face. Has he been in anything noteworthy? I think the problem is that he looks like every other blond white guy out there -- nothing distinctive or special about his looks. He will never be the shining star that is Reese.

Well, I am sorry that they are going through this difficult time and especially sorry for the kids.

Divorce is pretty much the norm these days -- Hollywood or not.

Ryan Phillipe has been in some good stuff and he's a terrific actor. Most recently, he was part of the ensemble cast that gave us the last year's Oscar Award winng movie, Crash. There was talk that his performace in that movie would bring him a supporting actor Oscar nomination, but that went to Matt Damon. Phillipe was excellent in Crash.

My hubby is the same way... He would have no problameo if I made millions while he spent them.. hehe
I am the breadwinner in our family, hubby stays home with the kids and works part time on the weekends. We decided once we started a family that it was important for one parent to be home with them. For years it was him, then I found a job making more money so....now it's me!

He cooks, cleans, homeschools the kids and treats me like a princess...

Good grief. If you are unhappy in your marriage - either try to work it out or end it. There is no excuse for cheating, IMO.

Really! Do they honestly think it won't complicate matters?

Not to excuse infidelity, but a lot of times when a married couple is struggling and things aren't working out, one or both partners "step out." I think it happens a lot.

In this case, it sounds like Reese and Ryan's marriage had been on the decline for a while.

Wonder how long it will take before we hear that she has filed for divorce? Kids are always the real losers in a divorce situation. Maybe they will get past this thing and work it out. Hope so....for the kids sake. :(

I hope so too. They both strike me as mature enough and caring enough parents to weather this with dignity.

I'm sure it does happen a lot, and from what I've heard Reese and Ryan have been having trouble for a while. But if that is the case then act like a grown man or woman and have some respect for the sanctity of marriage, the spouse you loved at one time, and your children. Infidelity only makes a bad situation worse, not better. And famous people should know better. There is NO way it won't come out and bite you in the ass in the long run.

I remember when he yelled something when she won the award for Walk the Line and he shoved her, she said something to cover it up that "hubby hit me like a linebacker". I remember thinking that I would have kicked his booty right there.:hand:

Yeah, she probably knew what he was up to. :( There's no way I'd be able to fake happiness through a deception like that. It would devastate me to learn that my husband had been cheating.
