She pleaded guilty, as did her husband. In my book, that is accepting responsibility.

anyone else find it odd she's not wearing her wedding ring in the ABC interview? does she usually not wear it?

I always thought she portrayed herself in a very decent person, my question would her response have been like that if they god forbid injured a person or killed them, my point being the power always goes to their heads, and I do not care for her as an actress, jmo I just never cared for her movies.

Who was the stellar friend who told her to get out of the car and speak her piece?

She showed her arse (as Dolly Parton is fond of saying). Everyone does it, we just read about the celbs who do cause we all enjoy discovering they are human and have issues like the rest of the world, despite the luxury lifestyles.

MOO, she was drunk, stupid and got big for her britches (as she would say). I do respect that she has come out with a statement apologizing for her behavior to the officer.

Not going to comment further on this one unless she continues to show her arse. Otherwise, I am inclined to say, everyone makes mistakes and let her move on.

I've seen similar comments about this all over the Internet- essentially that we all make mistakes and we should move on. And that's true. But what really bothered me about this incident is the arrogance and sense of entitlement she displayed despite knowing her husband put lives at risk driving drunk.

I think some people tend to give celebrities a pass at times. They are as close to royalty as it comes in the U. S. and as long as they apologize, most people generally are very quick to forgive and chalk it up to bad judgment, because we don't want to think badly about our favorite stars.

But you know, I have never challenged an officer or ignored one when under the influence. I have never become arrogant and felt I was above the law when drinking. I think being drunk can reveal who a person really is. It gives them courage to actually express what they really feel.

So I think I know who Reese Witherspoon really is. Snobby, arrogant, dismissive of the law or the rights of others. She had none of the body language or tone of voice of someone who was frightened or panicked. She sounded like a bully.

And I really can't stand that kind of behavior.

The other thing I keep going back to is that she even feigned being pregnant! It would be so embarrassing to lie like that and then have it videotaped for the whole world to hear! Who wants to be known as a liar?

Well I'm certainly glad that Reese wasn't the one driving, because from the video she certainly seemed far more intoxicated then her husband!!

I have no to experience with a situation such as this, but I'm wondering if she had stayed in the car, would they have let her drive it home?:waitasec: Made her call some one to come get her? Just curious about what they do in situation such as that...

I wonder the same thing! There was another passenger in the rear of the vehicle and I am so shocked they didn't tell her to shut up! Clearly no one tells Reese what to do! Karma.

Reese, tsk tsk. Way to continue diminishing LE. Stop listening to the people around you or if this was your bright idea, you need to start listening to the people around you. So far the only person in this situation who has made any sense is your husband.

I agree with gitana-when your inhibitions are lowered, people get to see who you really are. This one was too "Mel Gibson" for me. Add Reese to the list of folks whose movies I will never see again...Woody Allen, Mel Gibson, Tom Cruise, Reese Witherspoon....

I remember when she and her ex-husband were at an award show & it seemed obvious to me that he had a drinking problem. Now it appears that she & her new husband do as well. Sad.
