There is a big difference between colourful, street art-type graffiti meant to improve the scenery, and tagging, which is a gang activity to mark their territories.
Have we heard of any gang that MS identifies with?

I was thinking more on advertising for his productions as Say10.
What did he produce as say10 that he was advertising?

Mr. Smich in low-level crime, so-called horror art and rap music under the nickname “Say10” (a common play on “Satan”.
Sorry, I meant what did he himself have to make and advertise using his gang name? He didn't make that video, he just starred in it. I think that if he was spray painting advertisements for that video, he would have painted "ghostize" or whatever the name of the song or rapper was, not his own nickname.
MARK SMICH, 25
The second murder suspect
Smich has had a checkered past with police.
A music video — now no longer online — shows Smich acting as a butcher, dismembering body parts. Neighbours describe him as friendly.
His father, Andrew, said he hasn't had recent contact with him. He lived with his mother in a quiet part of Oakville and was involved with the local indie rap scene. He used the name "Say10."
WARNING: 12 disgusting horrorcore rappers for your Halloween playlist

Whether horrorcore’s performed by slasher-obsessed rap vets or by violence-obsessed suburbanites, though, the genre’s bound by several things: An affinity for scary movies, excessive brutality, and NSFW violence, usually backed by horror movie samples.
sually, it’s either metalheads who got into rap or suburban kids living out their violent fantasies
Excellent list. I see the Three 6 Mafia that MWJ claims an association with there. No doubt horrorcore music was an inspiration to MS.
Doubt MWJ has an "association" with the Three 6 Mafia other than being a fan but there have been several fans of these types of groups who have been involved in some type of criminal violence. I think the ICP draws/drew a lot of these "violent suburbanite" types.
MOO

Is there any link or indication that his nickname was a "gang" name? I haven't seen anything suggesting that. TIA

It is not the name his mother gave him, so it is not his birth name.
He is not an author so it is not his nom de plume.
He is not a clown, so it is not his clown name.
I doubt it is even a well .... nobody puts a well in front of a main door of a barn , the concrete structure is not a well casing , it is a concrete wall , probably for holding manure scraped from the barn in the old days
The guy with stuff in his hand is just junk from the barn , old rope etc. He would look at everything in the light and then toss it.
Furthermore , I think that whole exercise by TP was 30% search and 70% publicity to make it look like they were doing something important after years of doing nothing regarding LB.
They did not report finding anything related to LB at the farm , that does not mean it was not there , but if they had you would think they would have wanted the credit and some favorable publicity.

But he is a performer and his performance name is Say-10
The graphical nature of his name underscores the fact that it is his performance name (remember when Prince turned his name into a symbol? or Kesha dropped her $? or know the A$AP mob? Many performers include graphic elements in their names.)
The difference is that Prince and Kesha don't feel the need to spray paint their names on overpasses, I think. What performers do graffiti their performance name themselves randomly for publicity, I wonder?
To me the numerical element just underscores the fact that he must have named himself. So what kind of person picks satan as their name? Someone who wants to be associated with evil, or someone who wants you to think that he is the devil. Isn't that who SB says she saw that night?
All my opinion only.
“The devil led the vilest form of evil down my driveway and it smiled at me before taking Tim away from me”
DM was driving so technically he was the one that took TB away from SB. MS isn't much for smiling whereas DM has been quite a smiley guy in his interviews. I think SB is talking about DM. JMO.
After dinner, the two potential buyers came by the house and Tim – still in his jeans and work boots – smiled at Sharlene and told her he’d be right back. The guys, one of them tall and broad in a bright orange shirt and the other stockier with a hoodie pulled up over his head, also smiled at Sharlene before climbing into the truck. They rolled out of the driveway.

MS wore the hoody
