Remains found in Big Spring

Okay, I'm thinking and this is what I'm coming up with as :moo:

Usually in the high profile cases, they let us know right away that remains are not the missing person everyone speculates. They aren't doing that today. Oh Lord, if she's not alive, I pray this is her so she can be laid to rest. :please:

What are the chances that the remains of someone else are located within a mile of SA's mother's home? If that turns out to be the case I will be stunned, just absolutely stunned. :thud:

Well, I can tell you that when I type in "weaver pipeline" and " desert tanks" in Google, a search comes up listing them both as selling metal tanks, so there is the potential.

Another question is, does anyone recall how long Shawn had worked at Weaver? Is it possible that he actually has worked for Desert Tanks, especially considering that it is close to where his mother lives? Did he maybe work at Desert Tanks prior to working for Weaver?

Oh Hollye, you smart girl! Why didn't I think of that?

That's it. I'm going to commit. I believe this must be Hailey. I really thought we'd never find her but I think this is her.

Oh, I have a 14 year old gd, her hands are smaller. fwiw

a child's hand.. it certainly is pointing towards the possibility of this being our Hailey.. which ffor me is building tremendous emotions that are so very conflicting.. we just have to focus on all the good that can come of this tho its very hard because at the same time its confirming something so FINAL..

Speaking of pointing towards ...upthread whomever posted the map with the blue dot as Shawn's mothers Big Springs home.. the red telephone indicating Shawn's cell phone pings that day. .and the actual spot the remains have been located...My God one could not get a more perfect and direct straight line than what those 3 coordinates form. .. almost unbelievable....

I couldn't find the mummified comment (i was just skimming... maybe someone will fess up to being the poster LOL) but i saw this on an article:

"Investigators found that the remains are human but due to the condition of the remains nothing else can be determined at this time. The scene was secured at this time and an evidence recovery team from FBI Dallas will be in Big Spring in the morning to process the scene. The gender and identification of the remains are unknown and appear to have been there for a long period of time."

Praying that this part of the investigation is handled correctly.

Thank you for those collecting the media links xx

I can't believe she was right near or within the phone ping area. I imagined she was somewhere between big spring and ccity. Whomever SA called 11 times between 930 and 1430 better get a lawyer, better get a real good one. Not one that ends up on the wrong side of the law himself.

*swearing*

I can see that Hailey's hands would look small next to an adult or teen male's hands. Even BD's hands look tiny. JMO

Not skeletal? Hmmmm...JMO

Now that gives me pause. I would think if it was Hailey her remains would have long been skeletonized.

But if it isnt her then some family somewhere will know what happened to their loved one.

IMO

Does anyone have an idea how long it will be for the remains to be ID'd?

my guess is that once HD investigators get there tomorrow morning, they'll release info soon thereafter (if it's her... if it's not, then im sure they'll give us an estimate of when they expect to have an ID)

ETA - TOMORROW MORNING CANT COME SOON ENOUGH!!!

My daughter will be 13 in a couple weeks, her hands are the same size as mine. Was Hailey small for her age?

They will say they need DNA testing, but they will tell us if they think the remains "are likely" Hailey right away.

The coroner will be able to make a preliminary determination rather quickly about age based on size of the long bones of the legs and size of the skull. For sex they generally use the shape of the pelvic bone.

I am getting the impression that this body was thrownout naked. It seems if the clothing was found the police would know more about the gender.

But they may just be keeping that info close to their vests.

imo

Update http://bigcountryhomepage.com/fulltext?nxd_id=480182

"One of the men who discovered the remains tells BigCountryHomePage.com's Victor Sotelo that although the body was significantly decomposed, he was able to determine that one part of the remains was a hand, which he described as belonging to a child."

Hmmm...that doesn't sound like a description of a teenager who has been deceased and left out in the elements in TX for 15 months. A human would surely have been reduced to a skeletal condition by now and certainly the small bones of the hands scattered about. Think back to Caylee...in only a few months her remains were completely skeletal, with no soft tissue remaining. In addition, even though her body had been wrapped in plastic and cloth bags, her bones were scattered far and wide. I have a 15 year old daughter. Her hands are about the same size as mine; no one would describe her hands as belonging to a child.

Is there a younger child missing from that area in the last few months?

Got some info from our astounding mod in the UID forum, CarlK. He said that he doubts the remains would be mummified from Dec 2010 unless there was a lot of snow in the area. He said they would be mostly skeletal by now. (This would be remains left out in the open, of course).

A few people involved in the search for haily have been comming by to look, but not much to see now. Its dark and... http://fb.me/1LD1BuAwh

I have small hands, not much larger than my 9yos. I think unless the person reporting specified a small child's hands, Hailey's hand might look quite small to man.

Seeing on the Help find Hailey Dunn fb page that Billie Dunn and Clint Dunn, Hailey's parents, gave DNA samples right after Hailey disappeared.

If the body has been exposed to the elements for a year, there would be no tissue left. Maybe some hair but even most of that would be taken by ravens or vultures. If there is tissue remaining then the remains are not as old as they appear, or they were moved from perhaps cold storage somewhere wrapped up, and placed there recently.
