Restless Legs.......??

I, too, have itchy legs. Not all the time, but sometimes. I scratch and scratch, and it just gets worse. Is this part of the "restless legs syndrome"?
Yes...it feels like my legs are on fire and that no matter how much I scratch them...it never helps. The sensation is in the inner core of my legs. :( I have nerve damage in my legs also, so my legs drive me nuts!

I have found if you use enough drugs and alcohol you will not suffer from this.

Wow, I had RLS while I was pregnant with my kiddos. I've noticed it happening again here lately, but I haven't talked to my Dr. about it yet. I didn't know it could be linked to anemia, that probably explains why I'm having RLS symptoms again.grrrr.

I'm not sure if I have it or not. When I'm really tired I feel like I have to stretch my legs, its not an itchy feeling, just the need to move them. If I take Tylenol PM it helps. Is this RLS?
I am borderline anemic and have very low blood pressure.

I have had Restless Leg Syndrome for many years - long before it had an official name. Mine is intermittent. Comes around, stays for a while, then goes away. I've never really been able to relate it to anything in particular such as diet, etc. I get it in the evening when lying down.

I do not have the "bugs inside" feeling. Just a weird "inner feeling" in the legs and a need to move my legs. If it is really bad I take a muscle relaxant which seems to help.

I really can relate to the woman in the video. I cannot tell you how many times that I have ripped the sheets off at all hours of the night. Thank goodness that I am single.

upping my iron intake seemed to help...not crazy amounts, but upping it a bit helped me a lot with RLS...i still have bouts, but nothing like i use to have.....i had read that somewhere a long time ago..well 3 or 4 yrs, that getting more iron might help....yahoo "medical" news or "healthday"...something like that

link about iron deficiency and Restless Leg Syndrome

link
In some people with restless legs syndrome, anemia due to iron deficiency may be a contributing factor, while in others restless legs syndrome has been linked to pregnancy, diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, kidney failure, varicose veins or peripheral neuropathy (nerve damage in the hands and feet). High caffeine intake (coffee, tea, cola beverages, chocolate) also may be related to restless legs syndrome.

yeah...maybe mine's just intermittent like the other person that posted, & the iron isn't really 'doing' anything, but i know it's eased up over the past 2 yrs or so....

Isn't this a great place to be: WS..........I would never ever in my life find so many answer's to so many problems. I am a mover when I sleep.
I move ALL ROUND. Leg and muscle problems, I just didn't know that it happened to anyone else.. So I guess, it's possibly common.

I didn't know it had a name till I saw the ad for Requip on TV!

If I don't go to sleep within 5 minutes of lying down my legs start to jump like crazy and won't stop!!

There's a feeling of them tightening up and then involuntarily just jumping right up off the bed!

My answer is to drink a large cup of Bigelow Sweet
Dreams Tea and take a xanax before going to bed.

You've got to knock your self out before the legs have a chance to jump! LOL

I have RLS 'rarely' now and then and when I do it is 'WILD'. I have to get up at night and take a calcium/magnesium supplement, and extra b complex UNDER the tongue, it solves my problem. The brand I rely on is 'Nature's Blend' brand of 'calcium, magnesium, zinc', AND. 'Nature's Blend" cardio blend of B-complex plus folic acid. I do them one at a time.

One or two tablets disolved UNDER the tongue, gets into your blood stream immediatly. IT disolves quickly in the mouth. IF you have a different brand supplement and IT DOES NOT disolve in your mouth, it is not working for you. Hold it for a time, then wash down with lots of water. Sort of grainy, but worth the time.

I have also made a connection between my not eating a sensible diet each and everyday - then I can count on having some RLS time.

I knew this and could tell everyone, but with no substantial source, most readers here would chalk me up to their dopey lady file 13.

YOU can also find the tiny links at the link above that will TELL you simply a tiny but MIGHTY short list for the sources for MAGNESIUM. EASY DEAL EASY EASY READ. Read and get smart.

I do also increase my consumption of NUTS.

Tests and studies are valuable, but what works for YOU is even more valuable.

IF you get to the age of 74, 'me' and have not learned a LOT of things, you have missed the boat, it has left the dock.
