PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - Former Portland wrestler Billy Jack Haynes was officially charged on Wednesday for the shooting death of his 85-year-old wife, according to the Portland Police Bureau.

Portland police identified the suspect in Thursday’s Lents neighborhood shooting that resulted in an hours-long police standoff.

Police said 70-year-old William Albert Haynes, Jr., who also goes by “Jack,” was booked into Multnomah County Detention Center after being released from the hospital Wednesday. Police said Haynes has been at a hospital being treated for an unrelated medical condition since the death of his wife Janette Becraft on Feb. 8.

“A Multnomah County Judge Wednesday ordered William Albert Haynes be sent to the Oregon State Hospital, ruling he is unfit to assist in his own defense,” KATU News in Portland wrote.

“A copy of the order signed by Judge Angela Lucero cites a report by a certified evaluator that looked at Haynes’ behavior at the hearing, statements from his attorneys, and stipulations from both the defense and prosecutors stating that he is unfit.”

The lawsuit also alleges he isolated her from her family and prevented food deliveries from her family from reaching her.

Haynes is also accused of forcing her to liquidate her retirement savings, which included hundreds of thousands of dollars, and taking control of her money.

Court documents also say Haynes forced her to buy a gun for him since he was prevented from legally obtaining one due to his criminal record.

The lawsuit also states Haynes introduced her to a number of drugs, including heroin, methamphetamine, and sleeping pills, causing her health to decline.
