BBM: Doc has to continually remind the court that she is not there in a capacity to assess or to speak about the sexual aspect of the relationship but only the dynamics of it, seems to me she has absolutely no experience in relationship dynamics, therefore, is not qualified. Which then begs the question, why did the DT hire a sex offender expert and not a relationship expert which is a better qualified professional to testify about relationship dynamics?? This witness is a total failure.

I think the dufense hired she to portray Travis as a pedophile. And a sexual defiant, but can't get the computer evidence in.

I'm trying to share some pics from twitter of court yesterday and my system isn't letting me save. Let me put a link here to them (hope this is ok). What I find interesting is a little pin this expert is wearing on her lapel in the jacket photo and it seems to have transferred to her scarf in the other pic. I guess this pin is an important one for her to be displaying front and center. Wonder what it is. Maybe I'll ask WAT to do some investigating. :D

Scratch that: on enlarging the *what appears to be the mystery pin* is just a design in her scarf. (my glasses are on my head not my face)

It is very interesting to me because Sexual Offender Perpetrator Treatment is a very specialized tract of her profession. I did not find any supporting information about how she earned this achievement. I found her article to be very supportive of releasing "abusive" sexual perps because she didn't feel that warehousing them in prison was helpful to reducing their crimes and furthered that they become more abusive as a result of the incarceration "of higher education". If so, then Jodi's 6 years behind bars only serves to make her more of a murderer, no?

This "sex expert" who's card states "The Clinic for Sexualities" testifying on the dynamics of Travis and Jodi's relationship (but let's not get distracted about the sex), however the one thing she did testify that in her expertise she did not find that Travis was a pedophile.

This doctor does not have any bonafide credentials, any professional in their field of expertise would be proud and eager to speak of their qualifications and background. She had to concede that Travis was not a pedophile although she made some inferences therein, speaks from both sides of her mouth, good witness for the prosecution. :)

Question from juror: I once rolled over a rock and saw all kinds of slimy, slivery, creepy crawly things. I promised myself I would never turn over another rock. Can you tell us again where you work?

This is from the October 31 hearing where the media asked the judge for a stay of secret testimony.

Thanks Meebee. I couldnt open it to read it for some reason.

The last part above the link seems to indicate the stay was denied however didnt they grant the stay? I was afraid this is something new.

This is part that confused me:

"IT IS ORDERED denying the Media’s Motion by News Organizations to Stay Closed

Exactly, but one computer hard drive is not the tell all of a persons life, she is the only person out of Travis' entire life and circle of many friends that can attest to this BS. Not a betting gal, but I am willing to wager my home/kids, lol, that if Travis' computer had any 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 it would be during the time he met and knew the killer. In addition, DT well knows there is no pedophila or abuse, tactic here is to obsfucate and delay the inevitable, Nurmi'$ gravy train is soon coming to an end.

Judge Stephens did deny the stay which is why the media took it to the court of appeals where Stephens was overturned. This minute entry reflects Stephens' decision.

Bringing this over from the previous thread.....

If the Bishop in the ward that covers the Area of the Estrella Jail, or CMJA's previous Bishop in Mesa are on their toes, they or their counselors should have paid CMJA a visit soon after her conviction and told her excommunication procedures had started, were in process, or had been completed. Usually, a person's excommunication is announced in Priesthood meetings (all male Priesthood holders of the ward an individual is going to).
There are 2 types of Priesthood (Aaronic and Melchizedek), both are broken into offices or quorums of 5 and 4, respectively. The Priesthood is conferred upon a male member at the age of 12, based on their personal moral worthiness and church participation. It is a covenant with God.Instead of going into all the "in's and out's", TA was not highly "visible", politically active, connected, or prominent enough to draw the attention of the Bishop in his ward. CMJA probably thought she could "blackmail" TA, but at the end of the day, everything she may have had on him was nothing "scandalous", nor would it have put the Church as a whole in a bad light. None of it would have become public knowledge.

CMJA was probably convinced that TA was a big fish in a little pond. NOT so. TA wasn't even a "blip" on the LDS radar, he was just a 30 year old LDS member, no more, no less.

I know "scandal" when it comes to Mormonism, my family and extended family have had very public, not so public, and/or total lack of LDS sanctions for "transgressions". It's all about "Damage Control" and "Church First".

Thank you so much for answering Bernina!

I agree with you that JA probably thought Travis was a big fish in a little pond. I think Jodi thought she could blackmail Travis with proof of their sexual escapades (audio/video/pics) by trying to force further sanctions on him by the church. If he was already working toward obtaining his temple recommend for having sex or fornication with Deanna, and Jodi outed him with further evidence that he hadn't given up that behavior but was purported to be "repentant" - this might have some further sanctions on him with the church.

You stated no one would know if he were excommunciated but also stated usually excommincation is "announced" in Priesthood meetings - then all of the male members of his singles ward would know. Travis' friends already knew he had lost temple recommend - I imagine that if that wasn't announced in Priesthood meeting - Travis had to tell his friends because he could not go do temple work with them. He couldn't attend temple weddings of his friends, so people would know (although not masses). To Jodi this wouldn't matter, she would be the one who would accept him unconditionally (giving her an edge over good Mormon wife prospects?)

I'm not sure that the Church would seek to excommunicate him, but I do believe he was fearful of being outed by Jodi for continuing sexual behaviors with her while already in trouble for same with Deanna. JMO but I think this could be the very thing that he felt was most evil of Jodi - to out him. To force him to lose his faith and make sure that no other good upstanding LDS girl would want to marry him knowing they would have to wait for him (years?) to be able to earn the priviledge of temple recommend. If excommunicated - he would have to start over, be rebaptised, and go through steps to achieve Priesthood holder (not sure if he could skip Aaronic and go to Melchizedek due to age and morality issues) and then obtain his temple recommend.

To be fair, Jodi was a regular LDS member but Travis was a member and still had retained his Priesthood status (which is a step up IIRC).

This entire retrial has been all about what Jodi wants put out to the pubic. She wanted the allegations of pedophile, allegations of 🤬🤬🤬🤬, and I think she got Dr MF to say that Travis should have known better about the Law of Chastity as she was just a "convert" and he was a (nearly) lifetime church member/Priesthood holder/former temple recommend holder. Jodi held "Proof" that Travis again broke his "covenent with God". She has always had this underlying theme of sex and religion while trying to point out the hypocracy of Travis' ways but takes no responsiblity for her own behaviors!

Again, thank you so very much. I really do appreciate your voice here!

The #jodiarias trial is about to take a turn towards the truth, thanks to the very bright Dr. Janene DeMarte. Every member of the jury in original trial that opined said they found her very credible.

I remember her testimony well from the first trial. She is going to be a breath of fresh air.

She comes across as a very intelligent and confident and strong person. She really knows her materials and I can't wait until she gets her chance on the stand.

The jury will be glad to see her as well. Juan needs people like her to vouche for the correct analysis of Jodis obsessive relationship with Travis.

Nurmi will no doubt try to twist things around, however she can handle anything he tries to throw at her. She will speak the truth and show the truth to the jury.

IMO, I think after Juan's cross the other day the jury's eyes have been opened to the whole DT shenanigans and now the jury will be able to recognize the real truth when they hear it from Janene. We will most likely see a lot of affirmation head nodding from the jury when she gets on the stand.

Maybe we will get lucky and get some good questions too from the jury that can help us to see that the jury understands the real truth.

I just checked Jodi's twitter to see what, if anything they had to say about yesterday and they commented only that the prosecutor spent the first 9 minutes of his time talking about Jodi's kitty cat (they used a different word that starts with a P but I don't think it's allowed here. So that's all THEY got out of yesterday hahahaha

@ericksonvision: Just saw the Court of Appeals order vacating Judge Stephens' order to hold "secret" testimony. Score one for the First Amendment! #JodiArias

@ericksonvision: The Court of Appeals ruling also heavily implies that, yes, #JodiArias was the "secret" witness we weren't allowed to see.

@ericksonvision: I love the smell of the Constitution in the morning, it smells like victory.

Whoa! So the public (including the media) have every right to be in that courtroom, regardless of who is testifying?

I just really wish the trial would get back to TA's murder and focus on the sentencing-- does she have remorse or not. Why should the jury spare her life?

What's happening is just kabuki theatre.

We've had some wonderful words of late to help describe this trial - koan, cailleach, Greek tragedy, opera, and now kabuki theatre. I love these!!!
