Retrial for Sentencing of Jodi Arias - 2/13 thru 2/18 - Break

I understand. Just seems while we are waiting people are reading things in to earlier photos that even she wasn't thinking of at the time.

Don't forget, this was during the time that TA had not only recently not chased after her after she "broke up" with him but he was also already dating Lisa and had asked the Freeman's along to act as chaperone, in what I think was an honest attempt to get her to back off. I think the seeds of revenge were already planted.

Was there evidence he paid for the trips? I thought she had to pay for her own share?

IIRC the Huntington Beach trip was won by Jodi at a PPL event. They met several friends there.

I *think* the 'all rights reserved' is from Yahoo/Flickr meaning the photo owner reserves all rights to the pic hosted on its site.

Do her journal entries about any trips coincide with any of the photo dates?

I wish we had all the writing in order and dates on the pictures. I do not think any of us would be surprised to learn she lied some more.

I agree, what really makes it not fit for me, is that for that trip to SLC, they'd apparently flown there(DF allegedly drove them to the airport)... then a few weeks later, with barely anything else written in her journals, they're suddenly at the Sacred Grove, etc?

Oh and then I find some entries in Vol.7,P.17-19 that seems to give the lie to all of that... so unless they had flown there for a 2-3 day holiday after some conference which she seems to be taking notes of most of her 17th journal entry(after a nod to Father's Day and her lil bro's birthday) and gives a quick mention of a conference call on the 20th, I don't see how else this could have been accomplished the way she described it because magically on the 25th they are now in Huntington Beach with the Udi's and Medford's spending time on boogie boards and the beach and staying at the Hyatt with plans to go to Disneyland "again" the next day... so which is it? Did they fly to Niagara, Sacred Grove, etc for two days and then back to Cali, or is was it all just part her dream journal written into all the rest of her ramblings? Now I'm confused again....

Jodi wrote in her journal that Travis wanted her to not hang on him and that he wanted to be alone. So she sat on a bench, kinda down because she expected a marriage proposal. I wonder if the ring came up missing after that trip.

If you go back and look at Travis and Jodi at a PPL event she is wearing a black lace dress that is cut down a very low, and a lot her breasts are exposed.

Yes and no. She did absolutely fool people but I think it's more whom she fooled than her prowess as a psychopath. I think it's likely that those she fooled would have a hard time believing any petite, young, relatively attractive female capable of such deviance. It can be really difficult, and for some impossible, to come to terms with someone so inhuman.

Jodi used what she could to manipulate. She would have deliberately come across as sweet, innocent, humble, pious to the Hughes...and flip into the naughty girl routine, as needed, with potential love interests. She'd be the type to offer to do your grocery shopping for a year or drive you to church in another state - not because she wanted to - but because she could appear helpful. She needed to be needed and irreplaceable. That was her way of hooking people into her reality.

What she lacks though is sophistication. Any psychopath can maintain their facade for short amounts of time. Under scrutiny though, it all begins to fall apart. There's just no better example of this than her 18 days on the stand.

As far as Travis being different...you hit the nail on the head. I've said many times one only leaves a psychopath at their own peril. Normally, the relationship pattern of a psychopath follows 'Idealize. Devalue. Discard.'. You are never luckier than when they choose to discard you. When they don't, and you get tired of being their door mat and do leave, hell itself is unleashed.

What they can no longer control, they seek to destroy.

Note she also tries to manipulate her exes. Sending emails, late night phone calls, buying groceries, dropping in. All ways to continue to manipulate them and keep them from forgetting how "important" she is. She would stalk them if they moved on, even to the point that these men would move as far as possible to escape her. Sure, she was letting go but she was still trying to manipulate them.

I will never understand why she borrowed gas cans from Darryl. Seems worth the $30 she would need to spend (12.97 @ Walmart) to buy them and not have someone who can be called to testify against you if you do get caught. Maybe she really thought he and Matt would lie to LE for her.
I think Matt is lucky he was gone when Jodi drove an hour and a half to "talk to Bianca". IMO she probably brought a knife along with her on that trip

Like the profiler said..Ted Bundy was only arrested once. He thinks Jodi may have tried something similar in her past and she had most likely thought about doing this before

I think that was the June 2007 trip and if that pic creeps you out... how about this one which I'm thinking(unless I have the trips mixed up) is what made TA pretend to drive away without her, just before that argument with her packback full of toiletries. He certainly isn't looking very happy imo.

First day of retrial, there is only one juror question for Melendez, and it's about the Helio/sex tape.... "Was the (call) recorded to an application on the laptop?" M: I don't know.

JM asked M if he had examined the Helio. Answer- no.

ETA. Hmm. JM also asked Flores whether the Helio was examined. No

I wonder if the jury remembers the trial kicking off one day 1 with porn on the computer and the Helio being brought up? I didn't.

Day 1 ended with Nurmi and JM arguing about the Helio at sidebar. JM stipulates authenticity of sex recording, but not that the Helio was stolen.

Day 2 begins with Nurmi telling JSS he wants a mistrial because JM has questioned the authenticity of the sex tape. Nurmi told JM the State was apprised when the defense came in possession of the Helio in 2010. State's fault if it didn't choose to examine the Helio. Nurmi tells JSS if JM keeps it up the DT will ask that JM be called as a witness (I remember that part).

Thanks for this, explains a lot for me. I am sure she emailed and texted from other phones pretending to be Travis. Maybe JM had so much on her already he did not think he need more.

I cannot understand for the life of me why the defense is fighting so hard to insist that Travis had child porn on his computer, after they fought so hard in the original trial to insist it was NOT on the computer, but on paper images instead.

Why the sudden change?

Also, I have been taking a much needed break from the "JA show," but I have been thinking. :thinking: We know that JA loves to talk...
We've seen/heard her ramble on and on while she was on the stand. We've read her LONG emails and journal "book" entries. Can any of you imagine what it must have been like to be with her in person?? OMG

I don't find her especially attractive, but then again I'm closer in age to JA's witnesses than Juan's. I have no doubt she could be charming, at least until you got to know her, but I've never seen such empty-looking eyes in my life. Her affect is totally creepy.

I think she pictured herself being Kamala (Famke Janssen) in the STNG "The Perfect Mate" episode - molding herself as needed for the man she wanted. It was all a fantasy world for her. Unfortunately for Travis it ended up as a tragedy.

Nothing drew me to this case other than it happened to be the one Court TV/HLN picked up on. I've always been kind of a political junkie and these trials are the same thing in a way. It's interesting to watch the personalities involved and play armchair analyst.

Thanks for the reply. Although I'm female, I have no problems pointing out or noticing attractive women. My hubby and I both think she's rather dull and fake looking while she is blonde and all of those early pictures of her you can tell she's just trying TOO hard to be something or someone else. And now in court, we find it sickening how they are trying to make her look all meek and innocent. Oldest trick in the book and I think it's backfired. If every orfice you have is in pictures for the whole court room and world to see, no point in trying to show up with the church look. It just insults the jury's intelligence.

I used to have fleeting instances of feeling slightly sorry for the pathetic creature. And some of the early photos, I saw the appeal that Travis may have saw.
But as soon as I remember what she did to Travis and what she continues to do to him and his family in the courtroom, those fleeting moments have long since gone out the window.

She caused it all by herself. By her overbearing and jealous actions when she was with Travis, she ruined everything all by herself. She cannot turn around now and try to blame anything on him when her own actions caused all her trouble.

And then to top it off with murder and revenge, it is just too much.
Her real "ugliness" (both inside + outside) is coming through now and is on full display for all to see in the courtroom.

For what JA? Just because it didnt work out between you 2? How many millions of people each year have breakups and some rough breakups, and we dont see the type of destruction you have caused.

Re your question, I wasn't even thinking that there seemed to be no pics of the HB and Disneyland trips.... I guess I'm still thinking that there may be some buried in those hundreds of thousands of files that were testified to by the DT "experts" and although I don't remember off-hand, possibly even the PT techs.

Yes they insult everyone's intelligence. Most people man or woman would walk away. That's why we have divorce options. They so called according to JA dated 5 months. She is so intent on proving a point she is beyond ridiculous. JA was wanting what

to her explain leaving at 18 and moving in a dirty trailer with the grandparents of Bobby. She made it sound like she was doing them a favor. I just wonder what she was going to get or did get out of Gus besides a helio.

Perfectly said. What a waste of 18 days listening to her on the witness stand. Brought it all home for the universe well except for a handful of her supporters. JA IS DONE creating evil on the outside. Now she will go to prison and meet some real experts in her field. Lol
