Didn't he find out on April 15 that he qualified? Per his journal?

no. First mention of Cancun is on May 14, he received confirmation he was eligible on May 15.

ITA! Show some proof. Could the court order a court appointed doctor to examine JA's mental state? Or a doctor to x-ray her finger? Is this within the court's authority? I hate how every false claim made by the DT or their experts is just left hanging 'out there' by the court. JM challenges some of those claims but doesn't the court have ultimate authority?
In order to claim her finger was broken, it would seem that the court would require an x-ray, not just bending it. Heck Jodi is double-jointed, I can make my finger look like that, and if a tendon is severed, she did it when she stabbed him. Ryan Burns even reported seeing bandages on her fingers.

BOOYA!

Are we getting that special thread?

Yes. Lambchop already opened the thread. I just posted what I have for the May 26th showdown. Any and all edits welcome. :)

IMO the book was something else for the DT to use against the Hughes if they testified. My point is that the Hughes could have been the asset to Juan that Deanna was but some of their actions prevented that. I don't doubt their love or regret, I just wish news of a book hand't been released before the end of this trial.

They already knew they wouldn't be called though.

I also think it has to do with the awful emails they wrote Travis telling him he was the abusive sociopath for not committing to marry Jodi. Why would Juan want to introduce those, and if he didn't but still called them, perhaps the Defense would point them out. Those emails really make Travis look bad.

They didn't call him a sociopath. He called himself one.

If Jodi won't do an allocution, doesn't Jaun get to bring up all kinds of stuff about her partial secret testimony? Snips of video in court, her interviews with msm etc...?

Set me straight AZL. (ha ha) It's not stricken from the record.

That's a rumor but not the case with everyone. The killer in Arizona that was sentenced in May, and should have received the DP but got LWOP instead is already in general population with a job. Forgot her name. Someone else remember?

DeVault: she killed her husband with a hammer. She and Jodi were BFF's at Estrella. DeMarte testified for the prosecution in the Devault case.

"Jodi Arias isn't a movie star, but she's getting fan mail at the Maricopa County Estrella Jail for women as if she were a leading lady in a star-studded film.

"She does get probably more letters than anyone else does. She gets hate mail, love mail, you name it, she gets it," said Sgt. Brandon Jones with the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office.

Inmates can only accept postcards. All other mail, except for legal documents, is returned to sender.

Jones said at one point Arias’ cell was so packed with mail that jailers asked her to get rid of some of it because it was becoming a hazard.

Shortly after the request Jones said Arias released 250 pieces of mail."

Not to get all semantical on you but I mean she thought she was right in that her caution was founded because Jodi had not waived her right testify and was refusing to do so, not that she thought she was right in that Jodi had a right to request the media be removed.

I thought that was different but you got me all confused now lol

I thought it was the law that it was up to the judge to determine and provide within the court services what conditions a witness will testify under(the witness can try to lobby through their attorney/s for "better" conditions which JA was doing) but if the witness still refuses, then by their refusal haven't they automatically waived their right to testify? I believe it's got something to do with the right to declare the 5th or some such thing... though after she'd already testified so thoroughly in the guilt phase, I really don't see how she could pull that rabbit out now.

oh Lordy, you're right! Mega brain spazz on my part. Sorry! Have spent way too much time in the weeds typing and compiling the past few days.

I think JSS has a tough job. I also think she has allowed the DT to go over and over witnesses too much, and JM could have objected and said that questions the DT have asked have already been asked and answered. I am however heartened to see her describe CMJA as manipulative. That shows me that she isn't being duped and that she wouldn't be afraid to give LWOP if needs be. I still am not 100% sure of the motivation behind removing the cameras and sealing the court, I'm English and so I still don't get the US court system at times. The length of the whole trial has basically astounded me, it would never go on for this long in the UK. Of course, we don't have the death penalty here, but even so, it's been 7 years since Travis was killed and CMJA was arrested just over a month after his death. Anyhoo, I think JSS is trying to make sure that there is nothing that can be used in a successful appeal by the DT. Similarly to JM I think JSS is happy to give CMJA and the DT enough rope to hang themselves. Like I say, I don't really get why she closed the court room, as even I, as a UK citizen, was pretty sure it would be overturned by the COA. I certainly wouldn't want JSS's job. I'm pretty sure she is as sick of CMJA as we all are now. I think the DT stringing out their part of the penalty phase for so long may well work against them with the jury tbh.

Actually, Hope4More, someone above corrected me and says you're right, I'm wrong. It has something to do with the date TA found out he qualified (April) and the date he found out he would actually go (May)? The bottom line is there was no confirmation until May? There is other evidence he didn't tell Jodi until May?

When did he have to have the name of his guest in to PPL for the tickets?

Yeah, didn't you laugh out loud when you read that? If I were the judge, I would have told her to bring in the "thousands and thousands and thousands of letters" so I could read them. Lol! I wish JA would say that to the jury during her allocution. The courtroom observers would crack up. JSS would never get control of her courtroom after that. Jodi's such a liar!!

Yeppers, I LOL as well about the amount of mail, but more so when she said two officers were so concerned they went to her unit to warn her. Just like the peeps who went to where she was working to tell her Matt was cheating oh yeah and then it happened again with Mr. Alexander.

This convicted murderer makes me sic, she needs to be put down I sure hope the jury comes back with the death penalty.

Mahalo everyone for your posts and all the tweets sorry my TY button is acting up so mahalo for all the info.

I agree with you but want to point out that the United States doesn't have a federal law about the death penalty now. Some states allow it and some states do not. My state does not allow it.

It was April 15
Travis Journal

4/15/08: The good news is I got an email today saying that I qualified for the Cancun trip. I’m very very excited about that. Prepaid has allowed me to have a lot of fun. I’m very fortunate.

April 29 he asked MiMi

4/29/08: The other news is my date w/ Mimi this last Saturday didn’t happen because she was sick. I decided to turn lemons into lemonade and I went and got her an herbal remedy [illegible] ingredients, in a wicker basket with raffia and left it on her porch. She texted me 10 minutes later saying thanks but please don’t be so nice to me. I asked why not she basically said never mind. So I just laid it down. I told her via text I like you, but I don’t know if you like me. So I need to know, so I know if I should ask you out again. I never heard back from her. At church however she came up to me and asked if I got her text. I said no. She said well we need to have a chat. That night we did. She told me she was interested but wasn’t sure how interested. So she wanted to schedule the date again. So time will tell. That’s good news in my opinion. The better news is I asked her to go to Cancun w/me today and she said yes. So barring that she gets work off we are off to Cancun!!! Life is good! Everything is falling into place. Having said that I will close for now. I’m happy.

Ahhh yes. I should have remembered that. I couldn't actually name the states which don't have the death penalty.

I can't either, really. I have to look it up! :) But sometimes people from other countries don't understand that here it is decided according to state. :seeya:
