I don't even understand that ha

The way I read it as it says coverage can be play with a 30 min delay after each trial day the it goes on to say no video til after a verdict

Perhaps I am just having a slow day

She's saying a 30 minute delay will not diminish the "harm" done by airing the trial. She kind of has a point. That's not a compromise, really. The media still gets its way just on a slight delay.

I'm ok with this. ANYTHING to prevent appeals. I just hope they don't say she didn't get a fair trial the first time around because of the cameras.

does this mean the judge will also order no interviews by Ms Arias.

Y'know, I watched the whole trial on Youtube last year. I can't stand cable infotainment and sensationalism--especially HLN.

I think they will use media coverage in their appeals and use the judge now agreeing with them that harm could be done by live (or even delayed) coverage as proof she didn't get a fair guilt phase trial. But to the best of my understanding, appeals lie with errors of law, and it was fully within the law to allow live camera feeds during the initial trial, so although it'll probably be used as one of her grounds for appeal, I doubt it'll be successful, imo.

Geevee, thank you for sharing your photobucket. I referenced it quite a bit during the trial & had forgotten about it. Very useful information! Thanks again.
So, no live coverage? Too bad, but it'll do. One week & counting to jury selection. About time...

You're so welcome salberg, I'm very much looking forward to the completion of this whole affair in hopes the original pictures will be released and we can see exactly what's on all of them instead of the projector shown/copies taken from video that we have now. I'd actually like to see the real originals before clarification/deblurring/etc. by LE, but that's probably too much to hope for. lol

I look at it as watching a show on a network and having to wait a week between episodes vs. watching a streaming show on Netflix (Orange is the New Black) and binge watching a whole season at once. I will definitely be binge watching. I wonder what it will be like to watch after knowing the outcome. This ruling is disappointing, but if it helps move things along and get justice for once and all, then I'm for it.

I agree, that's exactly what they're going for. I hope you're right, it doesn't sound very appealable. She got the fairest of fair trials if you ask me.

I binge watched most of it until I caught up to real time, so I did not know the verdict before it aired. You make a good point...It might be strange to watch this penalty retrial after knowing the outcome ahead of time.

Given that there will be live tweets from the courtroom, things could be worse. The only problem with tweets is that they can sometimes be inaccurate since they tend to be reactionary and done very fast.

Please let me never be interested in another trial presided over by this judge....

Since we have several twitter accounts feeding us, we should be able to get at the facts. Most of us are visual creatures though and for us, there is no substitute for camera coverage. A number of Websleuths have posted good arguments about such coverage and how harmless it is. I certainly agree with them.

BBM - I always found WAT and TrialDiaries to be the most consistent in their tweeting as far as reality goes, lol. Whenever Jean Casarez was reporting, I often wondered if she was actually watching the same trial as me. Of course, our very own katiecoolady was such a great source too, and hopefully will be this time around.

We are lucky to have the tweets, and they have started for this hearing.

I don't believe katiecoolady will be there - as she has too much going on... at least that is what she posted either on this thread or on the Sidebar one.

We had a few people re-tweeting here last time - we should "assign" some of our members to tweet each of the people from the courtroom tweeting - so maybe we don't have double or even triple postings of the "same" thing. Per YESorNO's post from the Sidebar:

Yes- everyone will be Tweeting (Jen from Trial Diaries, WAT, Troy Hayden, Michael Keifer, and who knows who else)

So that would be at least 3 people - I don't know about Michael Keifer's tweets...

What do you all think?

:seeya:

Thanks, janx

This shouldn't be too long a hearing, I think.

The Queen is very upset with me right now because I'm not paying attention to her (she hates when I'm at the computer).
