I have always thought the gas in the cans were for more than just sneaking through AZ, undetected. I think little Miss may have planned to burn the house down, but thought better of it because of Napoleon or she didn't have time, or because of the room mates. I honestly think she had some type of fire in mind on her murder trip. That was a lot of gasoline.
I never even thought of that. I wouldn't put it past her. Maybe her clean-up was so sloppy because she didn't think it would be necessary and so hadn't planned it ahead of time. Burn house, destroy evidence. (From my understanding, though, successful arson is actually harder than it sounds.) If this was the plan, she probably thought: gas, match, buh-bye. But then why kill Travis? Why not just incapacitate him? (What a horrible thought. It reminds me of her weird comments to Det. Flores about how, if she were a murderer, which she's totally not, she'd be a "humane" murderer.) Maybe the slit throat and the gunshot were her "Plan B" once she decided against arson? Maybe she was planning to shoot the dog? She didn't kill Napoleon, as we know, but she wasn't especially concerned about his well-being. She left him at the mercy of the guys in Travis' house for crying out loud. They hardly seem like "housemates." They didn't pay much attention to Travis, how could she assume they'd pay attention to his dog? They must have given him some water, maybe poured some kibble in a dish. I have never left an animal without also leaving insanely detailed instructions with a qualified pet sitter. Well, I don't mind leaving cats alone for a day or so, but any longer than that? Sitter. Dogs don't do well alone, so mine get play-dates if I'm gone all day and a sitter if I'm gone overnight -- and they sure as
hell never get chained up in the back yard. Jodi could have left Napoleon in a worse situation, or dead, but to just leave him for the "housemates" to either take care of or not
pisses me off. This may have been among the least of her crimes, but still. Just one more reason to hate her.
We'll never know why she did what she did the way she did it. We do know that she loves all the speculation. She's the only person who knows what happened, she'll never tell, and no one would believe her if she did. She really needs to just go away, the sooner the better.
